Windseeker Testing

It goes half-way up the tower. It sits. It goes all the way up. It sits. It goes back down. Pretty lights. Dawn breaks. Half way up the tower. It sits. All the way up the tower. It sits. Back down again. Pretty lights. Dawn breaks, and the cycle repeats.

14% of the season is gone, and there is a pretty lawn ornament on the beach. Glad those lights are so darn purty at night on the webcam. Such splendor.

well said, kevin ;)

Also, i think they just park it and run off to lunch.....or dinner, snack break, whatever.......

I wonder if all them pretty lights on that lawn ornament will work in all the bad weather that happens in the Sandusky area.

When was that, exactly?

Shoot the Rapids opened on June 26th last year.

My author website: mgrantroberts.com.

Is it back open? Just wondering as I found a new video posted today. Would be odd for a person to wait this long to post a video from last week.

According to the comments in the link I posted above it was evidently open today. It has to be true it was posted on the internet *wink*

Well, we all know the "worker selling tickets" is pretty much the authority on what goes on at the park. ;)

June 26th? I remember it was late, but I did not think it was that late.

Wow. I certainly hope it's running before then. Then again, we won't be back until October, so as long as it's open by then. :)

After a Thursday trip to KI, the worker selling tickets to the Dinosaurs Alive movie (which has its entrance at the base of WS) said that not only had the gondolas crashed into one another, but the restraint dropped one of the water-filled test dummies during initial testing.

Three mechanics were working on it, raising the platform, but no rotations and the gondolas were all tied together.

That would explain why none of the four have opened thus far. You won't see me on it until never.

I'm going to go out on a pretty hefty limb, and say the employee was pulling your leg, and none of that ever happened.

They semed to be testing the blocks at a slow speed. The gondola was spinng at, Id say, 1/4 speed. There was also 2 seat covers off.....so yea.

whats with the seat covers off?

Hopefully this means by next weekend, we'll see the ride running. :) Wishful thinking.

I'll be back at the point on Fathers Day for a VIP tour with my family. I'm hoping it's up by then. But, it wouldn't ruin my day if it wasn't running. I don't want to be at the top of a 301' ride that was rushed. I'd rather they take their time and get it perfect before they open it.

I would love to see it open. I found something intresting though.. I met the TL on Shoot the Rapids and She said they haven't even be over there on the ride... She aslo said that she is working from ride to ride... so all signs point to aleast another few weeks! As most of us know to get signed off by state it has to be run by crew! I would love to see KI and CP to open soon :( But, alas i think we are still going to have to waite it out.

^The crew has no reason to be over there until the day it is ready. The State does not require the crew that will operate the ride all summer to be present while doing inspection and testing, just a representative from the park (and sometimes not even that). In most cases this will be the Maintenance Department, the crew just has to show up the day its ready to learn how to run the ride. In this situation however, I would imagine a few crew members will be the actual ones operating it for its required amount of runs only because they have the time. The Maintenance staff can't be tied down to a ride all day long just to watch it go in circles.

Actually Jeremy, I think he's right. I believe they dont need to be there until a certain point in the testing. When it's a new ride, the manufacturer always over sees testing up to a point when they turn the ride over to the park for the remainder of testing. Thats when theyre taught how to run it. I think theres an order to who gets taught first, second, third, etc. Like park management, then mechanics, then supervisors, then ops. Dont quote me on that though. :D

According to CWMania theirs is up and running again. Anyone have any clues as to what't taking CP so long?
