I think the correct quote was "No, I think we are talking at the latest Memorial Day."
-Adam G- The OG Dragster nut
Yes. To paraphrase, it was said that the delay we are experiencing is a "matter of days"...then he went on to say that the quip about Memorial Day. I believe it was an on-site interview. I'll try to dig it up.

I didn't mean for my post to seem like a direct quote....I was paraphrasing and shouldn't have used the quotations.

The 30-story WindSeeker will swing 64 riders in a circle more than 300 feet in the air. It reaches a top speed of 30 mph, with the swings flaring out at a 45-degree angle over Lake Erie. The $5 million ride is manufactured by the Dutch-based Mondial.
During a conference call Thursday morning with financial analysts who follow the company, Cedar Fair CEO and president Dick Kinzel confirmed the ride's opening will be delayed. But the delay will likely be a matter of days, not weeks, Kinzel said."I think we're talking, at the latest, Memorial Day," he said.

Using words or phrases such as "I think" and "likely" is akin to giving an estimate, and therefore not "lying".
Unless, of course, you're talking to enthusiasts. In which case what he said apparently translates to:
I personally guarantee that these rides will be fully operational and open to the general public no later than Memorial Day. In the event this promised date is not met, I shall immediately and publicly renounce my position as CEO, and personally apologize to each enthusiast for the monumental amount of grief they've experienced as a result of my "lying". Following that, I shall commit seppuku on the Main Midway.

So, Kinzel said "I think we're talking, at the latest, Memorial Day.
And the reporter said, "The delay will likely be a matter of days, not weeks".

It's OK. He just wasn't thinking correctly. 1/5 of the season gone.

And yet, people continue to show up at the park, strangely. It's almost as if the delay isn't even remotely a big deal.
Brandon
Which it's not, to me personally anyway, although I guess it would seem that way. :)

I don't see it as a big deal to park guests or to CP (or the other CF parks with a WhenSeeker)....the real loser in this, IMO, is Mondial. You build a prototype ride, you beat out a competitor for a build contract on not 1, but 4 of them, but due to what appears to be a downfall in testing of said prototype ride, you can't get the rides open to park guests. I'm betting the 5 million price tag didn't include and extra month or more of testing and modifications. Gotta wonder if the guys over at Funtime are laughing right about now.....
Nick
Likely not, because they still don't get a check for 5 million (or whatever) per installation.

Let's just give the man props for saying "he thinks"!

Okay, I would like to do some math here, bare with me.
I have a dollar... and 1/5th of a dollar is 20 cents, right?
So what I would like to do is give you the 20 cents and I'll take the other 80 cents. How does that sound?
For those who dont get it, We still have 80% of the season.. who cares that it isnt open yet? It will, and that is all that matters.
Are you guys, that are complaining, telling me because it didnt open when the CEO said he "thought" it would, you're not going to ride it?
I'll answer that one for you. NO!

I don't remember seeing this mentioned anywhere. But the lighting is just right on the webcam that it appears as though they've loaded the ride with water dummies.

That doesn't mean too much, if KI is any indication. They have had water dummies sitting in their swings for quite a while now.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
Monty jasper told a group of us at Coastermania that they will be the second one to open, ahead of Kings Island.
Monty Jasper told me he works at cedar point!
By the way , this is the second time in different threads you posted Monty jasper and coastermania.
Did I name drop too?

That's interesting, as it seems that KI was originally ahead of CP's with the modifications coming down from CW...until it came to putting on the dampers (not to mention they were about two weeks ahead in general). I wonder why that gap happened, and what kind of situations they were working on that preempted installing them? It certainly seems that the Adena crew at CP has been working a little harder than whoever is doing the construction at KI (and from the CP webcams, it looks like they keep a cleaner work area compared to what I saw at KI).
