This will definitely increase the excitement factor for Saturday. Although I was fairly excited anyway.
My author website: mgrantroberts.com.
Be sure to get TONS of pictures for those of us who couldn't make it. If you're allowed to that is. Let's see how that skyline has changed. :)
Yup... Looks like I was wrong about the booth in the back. That sure did look just like the control booth that KI already has built.
Cant wait for Saturday now for sure! :)
Beeeeehhhhhhh!!!!!
What set it off (for me personally) that it wasn't the control booth was how far from the ride's base it was, and that it didn't have a slanted top like KI's. I'm gonna guess that it'll be the same in CP's case. I'd have to say the slanted roof will actually be a viewing window for the ops to look up at the tower/riders.

I think they'll raise the ride a bit, then start swinging, or they will swing just not out to full length so it'll be fine having the booth that close. I'm sure seeing it in operation will explain more.
As for the slanted roof, that would kind-of suck. Your neck would have to hurt looking skyward during that minute long ride about 40-50 times an hour haha. Another reason I'm happy to be on Corkscrew :P

Power Tower is the same where you have to stare upwards all day basically. And since you work in the same area as PT you might get lucky enough to work it for a few days

I do believe that the second piece to go up is in the middle of the group of 5 in a row as seen from cam 1 and the final piece is the one seen in cam 2.
Based on the color scheme of KI's version of the ride, the piece seen in WS cam #2 is the next piece (which will be followed by a bunch of those white pieces, and finally another set of blue/yellow and blue pieces). I doubt they'd be staging the final piece so close this early.

I think you are mistaken . Cam 1 shows the bottoms of each section, the tops each have a platform inside on which the internal bolts can be installed and inspected. this picture shows a great view of what i think is #2. http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fbid=10150143326836463&set=a.319129566462.158310.10625691462&theater
Photo 95 on CP facebook page.
Apologies for faulty link but that's the picture that shows the sections best.
All 8 pieces are on site (including the base piece already put in place). Hopefully they will start today and finish next week.
This construction crew is the laziest. All they have done since 7 am is move 2 pieces around to make room for the last 2 pieces that were dropped off this morning. Then someone peeled off the tarp from the cement pour on Wednesday. Now they are just standing around.

Ah, I think I agree with you. In pic 95, the dark blue-light blue-yellow piece (3rd from the right in said image) seems to be the next piece, based on the color scheme. That would mean the piece seen in WS cam #2 is, as you suggested, the final piece (with the white-light blue-yellow piece installed immediately prior).

I sure as hell hope this post just represents your failed attempt at sarcasm. Because I know you know better than to pass judgement on something you know nothing about based on a few images from a web cam.

I'm guessing we will see some action today, as they seem to be done shuffling that last part to arrive, and yet the crane looms overhead still. Additionally there finally seems to be a fair amount of activity around the bases of those 3 closest to the camera #1, especially the one in the middle of the five.Although, i guess they do need that other crane before they can lift those, if they are going to lift in a similar fashion to #1 , correct?
I am keeping a hopeful eye on Kings Island as well. That camera has really great views of the pulley section of the ride prior to its installation. I am curious if what appears to be a 4 wire system gets brought into the pipe and directed into 2 pairs.
The more I think about it, an open channel would not be allowed for climbing that high, so each of the two open sides of platform would then, I assume be used for wires and climbing is done floor to floor through the little hatch shown in pic 94.
If you rotate picture 94 and zoom in you can really get a feel for the top of each section. Might that hatch even have a lift track?
Might be worthwhile to note that the Dragster cam is now in view of the Windseeker area.

I missed the live placement of the first section, but did it not involve the use of a second crane to hold the lower side until the piece was airborne?
I guess i forgot about putting on all the side assemblies, my hopes for todays erection are dwindling... so to speak.
BTW, whoever of you is doing the nice time lapse videos on you tube, thanks Very cool stuff.
The first section did use a second crane, hopefully it is down working on Ocean Motion. As for adding to the tower, I don't believe anything will happen till tomorrow or Monday. Just yesterday the crew workers put the cement leveling compound under the base, it will need time to dry. At Ki it took 2-3 days before constuction began again.
