Windseeker construction cam up!

Here it is Not much to see yet but in the next few weeks and months we should start to see it going up! I'm more exited about seeing it build than actually riding it lol

I would imagine that most of the work is just going to be clearing out Ocean Motion and re-doing the landscaping. I don't expect the tower to be too difficult to put up.

I imagine there would be a heck of a lot of concrete needed for it's footer. Plus all the utility work/rework that will be done. Getting the concrete done before the ground freezes is always ideal. Once the concrete work is done, most everything else can be done in any weather. Obviously you don't want to be working 300' up in high winds though.

Too bad the cam is not mounted higher up. It's not really in a great spot. One of the corners of the arena would have been good, or top of the building on the left. Oh well, beggars can't be choosers! I'm just glad not to have to see STR cam anymore... that was lame.

Like someone said earlier, I think the camera will be pointed dead center at all the action once this thing starts to go up. On a side note, I think I just saw some queue rails go by on the back of a truck! Interesting stuff, if I do say so myself. :)

@cedarpoint You should nudge the Dragster Cam a little to the left so we can see #WindSeeker change the famous Cedar Point skyline. ;-)

@dougary we are looking at nudging the cam, problem is we need to find a really tall ladder :)

Ocean Motion has been dismantled as of 3:30 pm

The towers have, there still a lot of the ride left... most of it actually. the towers simply hold the boat up.. all the motors, drive wheels, and base controll booth all remain but it wont take long.

Today they also removed the Cp ticket booth (AKA) Twister gate, I seriously hope they are replacing it in the area. When staying on point it is an advantage to use both gates on each end of the boardwalk, depending on which area of the park you want to enjoy.

As I mentioned early on, I think the gate will be moved adjacent to the Coral Courtyard.

You can actually see the lake now. Windseeker is really going to open up that area real nicely.

This cam is starting to give serious competition to another favorite activity of mine, watching paint dry.

I have a feeling that we wont see anything happen with this web shot till january,but your right,this shot is like watching paint dry.

Keep in mind that Ocean Motion also needs to have it's foundation dug and poured before it can go vertical again. I wouldn't doubt it if that is what is going on at the moment. I would also would not be surprised if the same contracting company are constructing both rides (I would put my money on Adena doing both). That would mean that when they have finished the excavation for OM they will move the equipment over to Windseeker.

I would suspect a 300' tall swing ride would require a deeper foundation, and therefore one requiring more time, to dig, pour, and cure out. This being the case, to me it only seems logical that the foundation for WS would come before OM. On the other hand, we may never know.

It would not be surprising if OM work was not started until late Feb or even March.

If CP didn't want us to see what is going on at the Windseeker site, why not just take down the camera for awhile instead of spending the money putting up a Christmas tree? Interesting.
