Wicked Twister- next on the chopping block?

Going back to my thought to move the dodgems so there will be room for the inside Roller Coaster over the arcade. Many of my friends and I say get rid of the arcade. We don't see many people there anymore. CEDAR POINT is
to be Known to be the ROLLER COASTER CAPITAL of the WORLD!!

Do you need an aspirin or something?

Move Dodgems, which isn't exactly close to the Coliseum, to somehow make room for an indoor coaster over but not in the arcade, which, according to many of your friends, who presumably don't spend much time there, doesn't have many people in it?

Here, Mr Cedar Point. Noggin has got you a nice box of wine. Relax a while.

I'm glad he isn't the REAL Mr. Cedar Point.

Box... now that's classy! Going for Mrs. Cedar Point?

All the best wine comes in boxes. It says so right on the box. :-)

What is with the people wanting to tear down the two coasters (twister and corkscrew) that have the smallest footprint and are wedged into places that virtually nothing else could fit into?

Don't tear them down..... combine them! Wicked Corkscrew, the ride them after drinking box of wine.

I wouldn't say that WT is terribly irreplaceable in that space. You could build something on the beach and along the queue of GK and back that would have more capacity.

But Corkscrew is pretty irreplaceable from a footprint standpoint. You could do something, but why if you don't need to?

The question, I feel, should always be: how does this better serve our guests while giving the best return on our investment?

Would replacing Corkscrew, an iconic coaster with a tiny footprint and decent capacity, bring more revenue and better serve guests? I'm really not sure and that's why I'm not being paid like Rob Decker or Jason McClure.

Well, Corkscrew's footprint, plus the area where those buildings are could combine for a sizable area. All it would take is some shuffling around of the facilities.

Dinosaurs, Cedars, Picnic Pavillions, Corporate Office... there are other places to look at that do nothing for capacity without removing a coaster.

The Magic Conch also said no to this as well ;)

Kiddie Kingdom is a collection of crap you could ride at any travelling carnival. Even if they redid it as a kid's area, I'd love to see something with a cohesive theme and not rides you could get at the corner parking lot all summer.

(Also, CP just bought two $12,000 Space Invader games for the arcade so they seem pretty happy to keep putting money into it.)

Which does not matter at all to the kids KK is targeted toward.

It wouldn't particularly bother me if the arcade went away, but, DON'T TOUCH THE COLISEUM! It's on the National Register of Historic Places.

I think we've had this conversation somewhere. And my answer is the same. Kiddie Kingdom still has vintage Allan Herschell kiddie rides from the 50's and 60's. And a decent collection of Hamptons.
So,... no.

The Coliseum might need a new paint job. And use that ballroom. Even if it can't support a a dark ride on its upper floors as some have suggested, they should do something with that space. It's a shame it's never used - I've never been up there except during a Winter Chill Out.

It'd be interesting to see a coaster around the Coliseum too. Perhaps they could use part of the back of the current arcade as a queue room (it would probably take up no more than a third of the arcade) and put the station next to the Colliseum, built to look like a part of it. After the queue, you would climb up along the outside of the Coliseum and the coaster would load/unload in the station (I say stairs on the outside so the occasionally-used ballroom doesn't have to be modified.) The station could be over the basketball game (RIP Chaos) and the coaster could be constructed over the midway to an extent.

Before you say that's impossible to wind a coaster so close to other rides and over midways, please look up Gröna Lund.

I agree with "use the Ballroom". I also believe it should be preserved. It probably needs cleaned up, but, it really is a beautiful and unique space I would not want to see altered. In the 70s, we had weekly employee dances up there. This was back in the day of 3.2% beer at 18 in Ohio and we sold LOTS of PBR up there!
