Wicked Twister- next on the chopping block?

Yes, what DJ said on the like vs. wait question. On the auto restraints, it wouldn't be electric on Corkscrew. It would most likely be a mechanical system like on Magnum. Those systems don't need precise parking, there is some leeway. As to actually doing it, why? The pedals work fine and reduce maintenance as that is one less thing to break.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Stepping on pedals as the train enters the station to unlock the restraint. Each car has one, so there is a certain timing to being able to step on them as the train enters.

In 2017, this is probably considered an unsafe practice and is probably not done like it was 25+ years ago.

When I started working at GL we took pride in how fast you could unlock the train at Double Loop. By the end we weren't allowed to run to unlock them anymore as it was deemed "unsafe." Ops would still do it, but if management or auditors were around you took your time, walking to each car and unlock it. Really took the fun of working Double Loop away.

I really hope that doesn't happen! If it does I'll miss him so much.

Bunch of Maverick haters I see lol kidding but for real. Maverick is the best ride in the park =) haha I would also be sad if WT was removed. I think CGA would just build new. No need to remove a coaster.

New to the topic, but i have to say that i don't really care about WT. I wouldn't bat an eye if they removed it for something better. However, if they removed it and nothing replaced it, I'd be a bit angry.

RMC streak or bust!

I highly doubt WT is going anywhere, and even if they did remove it, it wouldn't be going to a different park. I believe reading somewhere that Matt Quimet said something along the lines of "If a ride isn't good enough for one of our parks, then it won't be good enough at a different park of ours." My guess is Snake River Falls is next on the chopping block.

Id like to see the stadium go, its an unnecessary relic. Especially if wt goes then they have a nice little area to work with.

As for Wicked Twister, in the Frontier Town museum yesterday I sat & watched the ride video's they show. The one for WT was quite old, after the launch you can see the iconic building for Disaster Transport "12E". Also, at the top the extra support braces are not present. WT has become a bit ho-hum for me these days, probably due to frequency of rides, but for new riders it is probably thrilling.

The video for Top-Thrill Dragster, on the down-hill roll there is a lagoon along the right side, I forget if that connected up to the water under Iron Dragon back in the day.

^^ See, I'm thinking the opposite direction. I think the park needs to add more unique shows.

^I do think they need more Unique shows too, but it the squeeze worth the juice? Not sure how much it would cost to create a brand new (indoor?) performance space.

Getting rid of all the classic kiddie rides is probably a non-starter for the park. These are a childs first rides that they go on without a parent and are a big step for most kids. All rides in Planet Snoopy for kids less than 36" require a parent/supervision, trust me I have been on all of them. The little flat rides are prefect for kids just getting some independence and gives a parent a break from riding everything with them (and banging your knees).

Now moving these to where the stadium currently sits would be a great move as it would bring together all the kids rids, and by placing them along the beach would evoke a classic boardwalk amusment park vibe. There could be some good oppertunities there for shops/food stands.

That alone would give a good amount of space, and moving Dodgems, Giant Wheel, and Troikia would give even more without the need to remove/move WT. Hell without even removing those they could drop Flying Ace from KI right into the space.

I second that on seeing the stadium next to WT go. It would be neat if CP placed a new Wildcat-like coaster in that spot (very appropriate spot since it's near the kids area).

The stadium has the most popular show in the park. I don't think that makes the stadium a "relic", even if the stadium's age is a factor. They have not yet replaced the former IMAX/Good Times theater, which makes me think they would really not want to lose another venue without a replacement.

I dont think the stadium is going anywhere in the short term. All Wheels Extreme is the best attended show so what do you do with it? Ive watched it a couple of times this season and its been big crowds both times.

I wonder if AWE's extended run has anything to do with their higher attendance? It's one of (if not the only) show that runs through Labor Day. Or are you talking average per show? I've seen it once in 2014. Fun show, I would take my son to see it if he asked, but not a must-see for me.

It did, they filled it all in to build TTD and from what I recall there used to be a boat ride on that piece of water

You have to go back to before Iron Dragon for when the entire lagoon was open for passage. When ID and then later Mantis was built some land was filled in that closed it off from being a loop. It stayed that way up until TTD was built when the remainder of the north side was filled in. If you look at Google Maps now you can see a small "pond" wedged between Iron Dragon and TTD which is the remainder of the old lagoon that passed through there.

^Oh yeah, that must be the pond where when on Iron Dragon you look down at the blue/green stagnant water that has a couple of ball caps floating in it. But seriously, the earliest visit for me to CP I can kind of recall was in the early 1970's and I am sure I rode the Paddleboat Cruise & Frontier Lift in that area. Miss them both.

You really think they would get rid of the stadium next to WT, which would mean getting rid of the park's most popular show All Wheels Extreme, To build another "WILD" CAT? Lmao!

It surprises me how people are ridiculously oblivious to the fact that Cedar Point has shows, and pretty damn good ones too.

Don't forget, they got rid of the terrible "Wild" Cat for Luminosity. :)

Are you suggesting they cannot build another venue somewhere else?

Brandon

If they do get rid of the stadium. I say move the Skyhawk or the Dodgems around that place. I heard is that they are demolishing the the Mine Ride for a New Roller Coaster.
