ejh1701, I agree with you. I think if we're going to call it a tailgate party then it should be held out in the parking lot just like at a Steelers game ( or Browns game ) lol. Anyway, you are right about people seeing us there. What does everyone else think? All opinions welcomed.
I really could care less where it was at, either in the parking lot or in a shelter. Of course there are some pros and cons to either location.
Pro to a shelter:
1. Things can be set up and left for the entire day, if you get tired and want to rest, head out to the shelter and talk with some other enthusiasts while resting.
2. Easier to have something setup all day so people can stop in whenever they want, instead of just before the park opens (I know some people on here are going to be in line as soon as possible so they can get in the park and to the rides first!)
3. Easier to get a reserved place, and easier to get people from the park to stop in and say hi at.
Con to a shelter:
1. Not necessarily in a location that is easily viewable, though some of those shelters are pretty viewable from the front gate.
2. Crowded, there will probably be a lot of people using the shelters on opening day, but if we get there early enough we should be able to stake out a big enough section
Pros of tailgating:
1. Easy to see location, if we can get up front.
2. Just pack everything in the cars when the gates open, no need to worry about leaving everything out.
3. Not as crowded during tailgate (except the other people parking)
Cons of tailgating:
1. Once the gates open, then not able to meet up at a central location during breaks and just chat during the day.
2. Not being able to leave everything up.
3. Getting parking spots near the front of the parking lot.
4. Chances are close to nill, that anyone from the park will have a chance to come out and say hi, especially if we are farther out in the lot.
5. Traffic around the tailgate party, many people parking and moving around, it can be quite hazardous, especially with parents with small kids.
I am sure there are others but that is what I came up with now.

I think you'll have problems if you try to do it in the parking lot. I'd be shocked if Traffic would even let you do it. You'll be much better off in the shelter.

Yeah, Walt is probably right we should probably do it in the shelter.
Arms down, head back, and hold on.....
I don't know why traffic wouldn't let us, throughout the season I go out to my car and eat lunch. Whats the difference between eating lunch in the parking lot or eating "breakfast"?

I think that the shelter would be great. We can park as close as we can to the shelter. (Some of the closest spaces were blocked off last year because of the pyrotechnics (Sp?) for fireworks).
Besides were going to have to use CP's grills. We cannot cook 50 hot dogs on pepsi's grill.

There is a difference between a car full and a bus full. If all of you really show up at the same time to eat and talk, that will be a good sized crowd chillin in a parking row. If traffic didn’t say anything to you, I am sure CPPD would have something to say. That is the whole point of the picnic shelters, for use by groups.
That's right. People eat in the parking lot all the time. But if there is going to be a couple of dozen people, you're going to have trouble out there.
I have a very busy morning on Opening Day, but I might try to stop by for just a moment if my schedule allows.

Ill be there opening day, we booked a suete at hotel breakers for the weekend.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
If no one has volunteered to bring chips me and Matt can take care of those, as well as the condiments for the hot dogs, mustard, ketshup ect.
That would be great PunkyPiko. I don't think anyone else said anything about bringing condiments. As I said previously we are bringing chili for the hot dogs.
I might be there. I haven't seen anyone from this site up there so it would be cool to meet up with some of you guys.

Imagine your favorite tv show. You've been through it all. The ups, the downs, the crazy coincidences and then bang! They tell you what it's all about. Would you be happy? Does it make sense? How come it all ended in a church? - Joker
