Sorry, that didn't come out as clear as I meant it to. What I meant to say was that you have new plans, obviously planted but smeared over so you can't tell what's on them, and then you have Edwards saying there are no plans for that area.
I'm sure once November rolls around we'll hear another annoucement of whats going to be the new ride/rollercoaster for 2006. For now they're just going to tell us that they don't know anything because they don't want to give anything away.
I would like to see a modern flume for the replacement. Just like this one, only more thrilling and larger:

Anyone thinking about entering the contest to be the very last, last, last, last public rider? I am just wondering if anyone else is.
Don't know if I would consider Splash Mountain to be a ultra modern flume ride. I rode it, it was cool, nothing all that great. Themeing was sweet but thats what Disney World is all about. What can cp have, I Snoopy based Splash Mountain? Think I'll pass.

What if they combinded both theming and a huge drop. It doesn't have to be exactly snoopy in a water ride. Did Iron Dragon have snoopy in it when it debuted? Did Millennium Force have Theming? Kinda because you have tunnels and the strobe lighting inside the station. Top Thrill Dragster is the only coaster Cedar Point has that has theming. I believe it still has theming in it even though the theming is off the trains. Does anyone get what I"m trying to say here?

Well, what about good ole Disaster "TARE IT DOWN!!1!1one!" Transport?
Let's face it, CP and themes don't mix.
2003 - Wicked Twister
2004 - Wicked Twister/Top Thrill Dragster
Yeah, as Kinzel himself said,"The rides are the theming".
Water is involved
R.I.P: The Mayor, Mr. Scott
I still don't understand where Iron Dragon has anything to do with Snoopy...
2003 - Wicked Twister
2004 - Wicked Twister/Top Thrill Dragster
I have a theory.
The reason they said they don't currently have any plans for that area is because they don't.... for 2006.
Just like the dodgems were removed and then a whole season passed before Dragster went up, I think we will see the same thing here. The site in 2006 will be empty (perhaps with mysterious footers again) until they start putting up the ride for an opening date in May 2007.

2007: Wicked Twister TL
2006: Disaster Transport ATL
2005: Raptor
See I can see that happening, but I doubt your going to see footers for a 500+ foot coaster. I could see footers pop up for a woodie or water coaster, but not a 500 foot coaster.
Yes I don't see a 500 foot coaster either. I was at the park this weekend for the last time of the season and took my last ride on White Water Landing this morning.....it was very sad. It is such a great family ride. I hope though that they might consider putting in a newer age flume ride. That would be neat.

True, CP hasn't had good results from theming. But does failing something once mean that you can never succeed at it in the future?
If so, someone should be coming by to take back my degree any second now... ;)
Perhaps designing a ride from its inception to include theming as a major component (using lessons from the past) could, if done correctly, prove to be a big hit - especially for a family-oriented ride.
Of course, I'm easy to please - just give me another (or the old one, at that) Pirate Ride!!!

Personally, I think that they layed down a path in this area, there is a shorter distance that could be plotted out for it, which simultaneously creates 2 very nice, large, open plots of land for "other" developments.
One (1) works out to be a long, straight path we often see in B&M floorless designs, and another (2) is a twisty, turny area that could nicely accomodate such features for a B&M Flying coaster.
But I'm just an enthusiast, what do I know? I just think it'd work out nicely for the upcoming years. Slowly start developing that area and it'll have a lasting effect on drawing people back there.
I did a little example on MSpaint: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v455/MForce2k/12.jpg
I like the idea. Makes you think outside the box. Remember how much improvement had to be made for TTD? They filled in the canal! Most of CP's canals are man made and can be easily filled in or relocated. Should be interesting to see. I personally think that WWL is a big waste of space considering its ridership.
Blue people fly sideways when it rains
A new path to alter and expand Frontier Town a little is an interesting idea. I doubt very much that two coasters will go in, but another water ride and that rumored Screamin' Swing would be very nice.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
But does failing something once mean that you can never succeed at it in the future?
No, but failing at it over and over suggests a pattern.
Disaster transport.
Caves on WWL.
Train themeing on TTD.
Calypso decoration package.
I could probably come up with more if I tried, but that's just off of the top of my head.
If you're going to build themeing, you have to be committed to keeping it up properly. CP has been willing to make the initial investment, but every time something gets even a bit expensive to maintain, it gets ripped out rather than repaired.
The theming on TTD wasn't CP's fault. It was whatever dumbass engineer decided to let the tires spin freely on an axle.
The Calypso stuff was partially removed so that staffing could be reduced to one op. With the hoods and such the op could only see half of the ride at a time. The lighting was probably another budget cut, too, though.
