What CedarPoint is lacking the most....

Just because it is family oriented doesn't mean there can't be a nightlife. Disney World, I think, is a fairly family oriented park and they have Pleasure Island which is a good nightlife area. Universal Orlando has City Walk which is the same type of thing as Pleasure Island. I totally agree with more nightlife to improve the resort side of the park.
Thanks for the clarification cpmilliefan. I felt like I was in Silence of the Lambs on that ride. My ears hurt for the rest of the day after I rode that "thing". I would like to try the alternative. If that kind of flier rides smooth, I think it would be a cool addition to the park.
The largest indoor waterpark in Ohio is the Great Bear Lodge (prior to that it was the City of Westerville's community center). I don't think GBL is the largest in the country and I am sure it isn't the largest in the world.

The world's largest indoor waterpark is in Japan.

The Skipper has saved somebody a whuppin'. Even Wisconsin Dells has an indoor Master Blaster in the Kalahari's latest expansion.

Move along, citizens. Nothing to see here.

I agree with Walt. The coasters are great, but I think CP needs to step it up a notch with some of the giant flat rides that are out there now. I think Chaos was the last one CP received and I don't consider that very exciting at all. Plus the RPH on that seems very low too seeing how every time I ride it, they have to check and re-check and re-re-check the harness'.

I like Chaos a lot. Chaos, Troika, Monster and Witches Wheel are my favorite flat rides on the Point. Scrambler used to be good, but they run it in a most frustrating way now. It barely makes it to top speed before the much too short cycle ends. Cycle time on that ride needs to increase by at least 50%. That said, a few more flats would be good, but I want the nightclub first!

Florida may have Disney World and Key West,
but Ohio has Cedar Point and Put-In-Bay.
It's great to live in Ohio!

I second the Scrambler observation, though the current cycle made it hands down the first "grown up" flat I took my four year old daughter on (she loved smooshing me). I also wonder whether or not something similar was done with Cedar Downs. When I was a youngin', that ride was *great*. I can't figure out if I'm just "all growed up" or it has changed, but it's on the day-at-work side of boring despite the nostalgia factor.

Hey Ripper~ I rode The flying Coaster at Elitch's last year and I hated it! I didn't like the layout at all and it really hurt me. I did right X-Flight in Ohio and I loved it! So a real flyer like X-Flight is a great ride!

I would love to see cedar point put in some flat rides that are really great, but i wouldn't count on it. Mainly because some, not all, of the ones they have don't get alot of use, i can't remember the last time I saw ocean motion full, or cedar downs. Another reason is because they aren't what draw people from arround the world, thats the coasters, but i agree a new flat ride would be great!

Arms down.....Arms down.....Arms down.......Arms down.....Arms down....Arms down...(you think they would get it the first time?!)

I hope I don't get lynched for this, but I've ridden Chaos twice, and I absolutely hate it. I would definitly rather get a new coaster than a flat ride.

CedarPoint is lacking..... A FLYING COASTER!!

No CP won't make a flying coaster. When they make a new coaster it's record breaking, and they would'nt do it with a flying coaster. I think that next they will either have some new type of design for a coaster or they will have one that breaks the inversion record, with the biggest loop or something. Something like Dragon Khan and Incredible Hulk. It would be awesome if they added a piece of land to the CP island just to put a coaster on it. To have some type of water theme to it. Something where there are not a lot of people around.

Cedar Point is lacking a flying coaster if you noticed the title isn't, what will Cedar Point build next.
Given that these all all just personal opinions ... I've been on both a flyer and a floorless and was, well, unmoved. Meh.

I do agree, however, with several of the above suggestions, namely those regarding nightlife, and a Soak City expansion. Any nightlife addition would appeal greatly to those staying on point, which has been the one of the most aggressive areas of development for CP in recent years. Their resorts run near or at capacity for the summer, and that means money. Lighthouse Point already has plans for expansion, and I can see another hotel before long ... I think then at some point a new bar/restaurant will not just be inevitable, but necessary.

As far as Soak City - gimme one of those shootin', sprayin', hanging water coasters. Never been on one, but man they look fun. It would also add to their coaster count, you know ...

I like the idea of that coaster but don't put it in Soak City. I mentioned in another thread that the concept would be great for over Thunder Canyon and the runout of Snake River Falls.

They could mount water guns on the midway for the non-riders to get in on the action and make that entire area a water war. Signs would have to go up on the midway saying "you will get wet if you come any further."

What I would love to see is something around here similar to Wild Wadi Water Park in Dubai, UAE. Their version of the 'lazy river' has exits which are chutes with water that blast you up to the top of a ride. After the ride, you end up in the river again. I like to refer to it as the laziest river. If you've never heard of it or seen it, here is a link.

Basically, I think the park needs to utilize the beach resort idea a little more. The vamped up boardwalk and improvements to Sock City would rock.

Are you saying make a portion of Frontier Trail a place where you can't guarantee guests will stay dry? I understand the concept of riders getting wet, but I don't like the idea of a water free-for-all on the midway. Water rides are fine, but keep the water fun in the water park.

It would be alright if they made a separate path that the water coaster would fly over. When guests are walking through frontier trail they could either take "Path A" that would always be dry...or they could walk through "Path B" that the coaster flys over.

That's OK - if there's enough room to do it. But I still think Soak City would benefit more from the ride than Cedar Point would.

If Soak City got the ride then I don't think it would help Cedar Point in the coaster count department as it is a separate gated park.

Put a Master Blaster in Soak City. That would cause me to want to go again.

As for the wet midway, yes, I would have a separate walkway for those people that didn't want to get wet. I just think that midway would come alive if there was some interaction between the water rides and the non-riders.

Here are some records CP can go for with certain coasters:

B&M Flyer: Make it nearly as tall as Alpengeist (195 feet), which in turn brings the speed up to 70 mph plus. Tallest and fastest flying coaster is what you would have there. They could also put in a vertical loop, dive loop, inline twist, and a helix near the end. That would rule.

B&M Floorless: I heard a hint of a nine inversion floorless at RCT Station one time. Although it won't break the overall inversion record, it would break the floorless inversion record. What I would want is a vertical loop, dive loop, sea seperant (sp?), cobra roll, zero-g-roll, and interlocking corkscrews. That also would rule.

Intamin Mega Looper: For CP's sake, I wouldn't want this because CP has enough Intamins for now. But if they do get this, it would be cool. If they go for the inversion record, at least don't do it with six inline twists in a row (assuming they go for a twelve looper). Have a wide variety of inversions, and attempt to invent an inversion if possible.

B&M Sitdown: Again, they can easily snatch the inversion record with this coaster. Put in every B&M known inversion (vertical loop, dive loop, zero-g-roll, cobra roll, inclined loop, interlocking corkscrews, batwing, etc.), and you'd have a record breaker right here while providing the smooth ride that B&M can offer.

Arrow 4D: This is highly unlikely, but they could snatch the steepest drop record (which is at 95 degrees, beyond vertical), by making it one or two degrees steeper. I'm sure Arrow could do that, but the coaster itself would have problems. We know the problems that X had and all.

Of course CP can introduce a new breed of coaster with a prototype, but that is unlikely. The flyer or the floorless is most likely for CP, as those coasters have been talked about the most for the park. If they could get both, I would want the flyer first in 2K5, then maybe the floorless in 2K6. If they can't get both, choose the flyer. Then CP can put it's name with the parks with three or more B&Ms. That ends my long post. Haha.
