Uh, because they work all day, maybe?
On a more serious note, what they are adding now is a strut that goes from the back column that attaches to the last catwalk in the middle. The piece on the catwalk can be seen here to the left of and behind the odd piece. It is the only center catwalk piece with this flanged stub. It also has a stub sticking straight up for another strut up to the odd piece.

Sustained winds about 4 miles from Cedar Point are at @ 6 mph, gusting to 18 mph. Of course, that's away from the lake, so my guess is it's pretty windy there, but not *too* terrifically windy. Then again, it's probably much windier 350+ feet in the air.

As the sun has just set on another day in Sandusky, Ohio, watching it hit the horizon brings up an interesting observation. It met the horizon midway between the first two hills on MF as seen from the beach cam at exactly 5:00 pm. Just three weeks ago, on Nov. 13, The sun set on the horizon at about 5:10 pm and at a point just a little to the left of the middle of MF's second hill. While the days will continue to shorten for a bit, in just over two weeks, the sun will start it's trek northward again, the days will get longer and spring will be here shortly. The arrival of spring means Opening Day is not far behind. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

Right on jdubya! Winter solstice is near, and after that, the days get longer.....summer gets closer.....and soon we'll be on that coaster, and all the others of course. The webcams are great!

I like winter better anyway. More time to go skiing. Summer has its place in time, and that's six months away.

I hope I'm not just behind the times. I scanned through the posts and didn't see anything saying this so I figured I'd throw it out. The Webcam looking straight up the launch (at CP's website) appears to show the tower possibly arching to a peak. The left side now has a support with an extreme curve towards the center... Could this be the top of the tower?
