Maybe Amazon? Probably would have needed to use the $4.99 overnight shipping option with the Prime membership.

Couldn't agree more; classy move giving water to campers that stayed. If they did it for them, they could have done it on a larger scale for park guest. No question things would have been less than ideal if they kept the park open. If the PR spinsters released a statement saying management had decided to close the park to close the park because it couldn't maintain the high standards it sets for itself then, I still would have screamed BS for the thousands of people who had their vacation ruined; but, I would have bought it more than they had no choice to close.
No, they couldn't have replaced 2,000,000 millions of water. Problem is, they wouldn't have needed that much. The park would be forced to operate in a reduced capacity; hotels would still have been closed, port-a-pots wouldn't have used water, and guest would be using bottled water etc... The water brought in is used only for essentials as Bill described.
DJ's idea of using Martian water is creative but ignores the fact that CP had ample drinking water on its own property (and non-drinkable water surrounding the peninsula) and other places routinely take the measures mentioned by Bill.

^^ New for 2014: $1000 Cedar Mars 20oz water bottles!Only $1000?!?!?! WHAT A DEAL!! ;)
But will they add it to the Platinum Pass Dining Plan? :)
This Isn't A Hospital--It's An Insane Asylum!
^^^Yes!!
^^Because maybe a few hundred camping, compared to several thousand people in the park plus employees.
Pointguru..just stop while you're ahead
1. They were probably forced to close, I'm almost positive they were, if not they're a bunch of smart people to realize the problem and close.
2. If hotels are closed, hey lets ride rides but lets inconvenience people who want to enjoy Breakers/Sandcastle.
3. Portapots..really..Too many ****s a day to justify those. Have you been in the bathrooms around lunch, crowded as hell. People gatta drop bombs every hour of the day in that park.
4. Bottled water for every guest there..wow, ridiculous. What about the fountain machines, food prep, etc. that all require water and is hooked up to a tap
Just..human..stahp :P

...I wonder just how many posters/members who are singing the praises of the parks brilliant decision to close, coupled with what a tremendous safety conscience idea it was to send everyone home - would have also - had CP made the call to remain open - been consistent, stepped up to the plate, and publicly ridiculed the park, boisterously exclaiming, "Nope, these clowns at Cedar Fair completely dropped the ball and totally F'd this one up ! They should have shut everything down and been a lot more worried about the consumers well being and far less concerned with their own selfish wants and how much they could pad their bank account!"In that fantastical scenario you're using to make your flimsy point, does the lack of water result in a hazardous mess?
Since that is obviously the likely outcome, I think if the park stayed open in such circumstances, many here would be complaining about the park being more concerned with profit than their guests' health.
The trolling in this thread has reached epic scale.
"Flimsy point" ?? "Hazardous mess due to lack of water" "TROLLING" ?!?! Are you kidding me, man !
Not sure where you're coming from with that, how it relates to my comment to Walt, or how your reply has anything to do with the "CP can do no wrong" comparison - but the part that apparently flew right over your head and has you bouncing all over the place searching for a way, as usual, to get cute, was whether the park stayed closed or remained open, most people were going to agree with it.
In any event, spoken like the true "fanboy" I was referring to, Brandon Old Pal !
Oh, and sorry I struck the dreaded "troll" nerve, dude ... You know, since I've been doing it since the site opened and all ... Heaven forbid I or anyone else somehow stray off the beaten, acceptable path !
I was super before Super Stew was cool !
But you're making assumptions about how a crowd would react about a scenario that didn't happen.

The point you're missing is that RV's and most campers have their own, self-contained restroom facilities, along side a fresh water holding tank that doesn't require hookup in case there isn't one. Anyone with a RV or 5th wheel would have been fine for the day/night, and without rides, it just becomes a regular camping trip.
No, I most certainly am not, John ! But even if I was, isn't that what we're supposedly here for ?? To debate and discuss (preferably minus the wise guy, smart ass crap) legit scenarios and questions ??

Oh no, we're up to 3 people who think alike! It's spreading! Seriously though stew, that's a huge stretch and just as unrealistic as some of these "ideas" floating around. So, I'll take that half jug of Uncle Jessie's finest Thank you very much. :)
You're gonna have to come to Clearfield and get it, though, man ;)
And just so there's no confusion, I'm not painting myself into a corner with "unrealistic ideas" regarding the closing. And the other thing was making an observation of what's been going on.
I was super before Super Stew was cool !
But the park didn't stay open Saturday and Sunday, it closed. So the scenario didn't happen. And since it didn't happen people didn't react to that happening. Which means you're making assumptions about how Pointbuzz would have reacted to the park staying open.
You may very well be right and the PB community would have reacted positively to the park staying open, it is simply an assumption, not based on fact.

Good news for Coasting for Kids people. They are rescheduling the event for June 22nd. Check your email for more information.
Fair enough, Juggs. But again, I responded to Walt's comment with a completely reasonable, rational, and valid point. Whether it's a "what if" scenario or not is completely irrelevant and shouldn't have to stand up to a ton of absurd scrutiny and juvenile insults.

Just because you're ignorant to the numerous complaints I do have about the park does not make them go away. I criticize the park often.
Brandon
No more "ignorant" than anyone else, son ! But thanks for noticing !!

Given that you're the only one claiming I'm an unabashed CP fanboy, I'd venture to say you're of above average ignorance.
But at least it's willful! :)

The ever present and proverbial "CP can do NOTHING wrong" mentality is ALIVE and very well represented on this site ! Has been for years.Maybe you're not reading every topic, but that couldn't be further from the truth.
Perhaps, Walt, but that's my perception of it over a decade and a half. And I don't think there's any denying that it's around ... At least with some.
I was super before Super Stew was cool !
How do those people on Survivor or the other reality series shows last up to 31 days without these services? They wouldn't have any source of clean water until they make fire, and that can take days.
I hope everyone on this blog is now contributing generously to Alyssia Milanos "Save the Children" campaign commercials where the little kids have to drink the bad water in the village because it's the only source of water they have!
