Some paint will most likely be worn off just where you attach your rigging. There will be touch-up done on pretty much every piece of steel on the site once all the steel has been set.
I've watched several coasters built and I've never seen that. They use straps to lift them....I doubt there is any damage to the paint. I think that is sand in the pics.

I stand Corrected. It seems the track is actually part of the break run, not the station.
Notice the inclined angle of the track.

In that same photo though, if you look to the left of the base of the red crane you can make out the white supports and a blue line, which is the track from the picture on facebook. So this new portion of track will be the brake run leading to the station track already put in place. Great catch on the incline

What are the red cranes for? It looks like the yellow one is doing all the work.
Are you referring to the red tower crane to the left of the brake run?
As far as I know there is only one red crane. It's boom is folded in half. It it much taller and will be used when the smaller crane can no longer reach. When the work is closer to the ground, I'm sure it's a lot easier to use the smaller crane.

^Yes The red crane has a boom well over 200', however it cannot move from it's current location so it will be used to set the taller portions of the ride. The yellow crane currently being used has a much shorter boom, but has the capability of moving throughout the job site and can easily access the shorter portions of track.
Well that is at least three pieces in two days. Hopefully the track will be complete soon! I LOVE the colors and think that this will be the best looking coaster in the park. Track goes up fast. Any footers being installed on the "left" side of the park, near the pavillions?

Is this how winter is going to go? A play-by-play of every track piece as it goes up? Now if a dude gets caught peeing behind a building on the Web cam, then we have something to talk about.

yeah, then it will be, OMG the lift hill, then OMG the roll over, OMG the drop, OMG the immelman, OMG the camelback, etc. Play by play is better than obsessing over trees being cut down lol

I agree that the discoloring in the picture is sand (you can see it on the station track as well) but I wouldn't completely rule straps out in some other cases. It's rare, sure, but I paint stuff where I work and I've seen my fair share of scratches and scrapes from moving the items with straps. Of course they use a completely different type of paint on the steel track and supports so I'm sure there's not as many.
I think the main cause of the scratches we do see is a result of how they're handled during transit. Especially when taking them off the flatbeds and to the site itself. Of course the construction site is a flurry of machinery and workers with tools. So there's bound to be some bumps and bruises from that as well.
Maverick is a prime example of just how scratched a coaster can get on the work site. They really beat the crap out of those supports.

Fixed that for you ;)
So, will Clermont Steel just ship the track when needed or do you think we'll see a lot of track come at once?
