DBCP someone posted some pics of another ride that had some shiny track parts in the station. It was a section of track that was a couple of feet long at most that almost looked chrome. I can't remember what ride it was though. Does that describe what you saw?

Could you put that link somewhere where you dont have to sign in to view it? (putfile or something)

Look, there's one of those "WTF pieces" attached to a triangle...

I really am thinking an LSM. Those things look perfect for an LSM mount. Plus, is an LSM more reliable than than LIMs or Hydraulics? I'm sure CP would go for a more reliable system after they had some problems with the other two.

i've been hearing a lot about the launch being too steep so many are thinking it will be the brake run which it might be but my question is why are people saying that a launch has to be relatively flat? Doesn't Hulk at IOA have a launch on a steep incline?

Yes it does, i think the major debate is it's too steep for a hydraulic launch... not the magnetic launch Hulk has...and if it is a magnetic launch (LIM/LSM) then it would most probably be at a steeper angle than that hill is at... thus the brake run theory...problem?:

What does it do after the brake run? It seems to go through a tight banking curve... Leaving myself clueless

It's not that I'm afraid to die; I just don't want to be there when it happens

A hydraulic launch would have to be on flat section of track (but not necessarily parallel to the ground) because of the cable. A LIM launch, could be on straight, curved, inverted, inclined, declined, just about any kind of track. So just because a section is curving to vertical, doesn't mean it couldn't be part of a launch.

Hulk at IOA uses drive tires to launch it. I could be mistaken, but I believe that is the only coaster to implement a launch like that. Well, according to rcdb.com, there's a coaster in Japan that also has a drive tire launch.

Actually, Woodstock Express does the same thing.

just an observation but this looks relatively similar as track is slowly making it's way back level going into a brake run...

i could be way off but just a thought...also do the square connections on supports connect to all types of track or just 4 rail like on millenium in that pic?

TTD 120mph's avatar

The flat connections can also connect to flat track.

Probably anything. On 3 railed track, the support connecter thing (lol) would be sticking out more.

Maverick perhaps? I wanna RIDE ON.

Woodstock Express is a launch?? WOW!! I had no idea. :)

Woodstock Express uses a tire-drive system on its lift, the same as Hulk. WE moves at pretty much a constant rate whereas Hulk is an almost constant acceleration up the hill.

This has probably been brought up countless times, given the wealth of info around here, but it's worth a shot.

After wandering around the construction zone yesterday and looking at the signs, it hit me: What if this thing has switchbacks?

"Back up, bronco..."

"We're goin' in a whole new direction!"

The weird track that looks like a water coaster may very well be, but a prototype Intamin water coaster (with themeing?) isn't out of the question yet.

"Hold on to your spurs" might refer to the spurs of track needed to make a switchback.

"A change is a comin'" is probably self-explanatory. In any case, I think I'll hold on to my switchback assumption until August.
