TTD RECORD OFFICALLY TO BE BROKEN!!!!!

I just want to say, I just timed the animation and the actual time from launch to brakes is only 20 seconds!!! You get a 50 sec ride from station to just about re-entering the station. Also, the speed alone won't make it over the hill, its just not possible. Once again we have six flags and all of there confusing lies and BS. Not to mention the rides they don't take care of.

And I like six flags creativeness to create an "original" design of a coaster. All they did is take dragster, dropped the theme to a Jungle theme, make it taller and a wee bit faster and add a small hill.

Can't wait to hear about it crash during testing!!! *** Edited 9/29/2004 6:34:42 PM UTC by Y2J2003Y2J***

Good question...
All records are meant to be broken. It was bound to happen. I guess six flags doesn't think the bad pr for breakdowns is to much of a risk. I wonder if six flags took the money from G lake to put in a down payment for this project ?

It can only mean something good at CP in the future. And I'm sure the world will be watching!

Does anybody know why this launch system generates 7,400 HP as Dragster's generates 10,000 HP?
I was just wondering that on a video i just watched, Sandor Kernacs said "We had to design a high capitity ride consisting of 6 dragster cars which had to be launched in every thirty seconds with a horspower around uhhh 10,000, and uhh substancial horspwer can only be achiever with a highly sufistcated uhh, Hydraulic Launch system" & this new "Kingda KA" is faster with less launch space, & less horspower, maby a mis calculation, or Sandor was gettin high before the video,
one thing, dont you think they have worked all the buggs out from ttd. i think they now know how to set up a ride with out as much down time. when i first heard the speed i was thinking there no way it going to make it over. i mean ttd gose 124 some times and dose not make it over. but is 07 when um i for get his name is leave or is that 06
Could this be a reason why SF sold Geauga Lake/Sea World? To help pay for this thing?

With Bill Gates being a major shareholder, I wouldn't be suprised. He does not like to lose.

I don't think it's horsepower that matters. When it comes to accelaration, torque plays a major roll in getting something going.

I still think TTD is a much better ride. With KK, those OTSR's will obstuct your view BIG time. On TTD, you have great views, I doubt you'll get a good view on this one. This also opens up a huge opportunity for CP to once again build something bigger. Cedar Point started the height and speed race back in 1989 with Magnum XL-200. I highly doubt CP will let SF get away with this. If you look at CP's history of building big coasters, they seem to go 100ft. each time.

Gemini - 125 ft.
Magnum XL-200 - 205 ft.
Millennium Force - 310 ft.
Top Thrill Dragster - 420 ft.
Can they break 500 ft.?

This seems to be the pattern of CP, this is like the Cold War of Amusement Parks. CP's owners are probably laughing right now at SF's feable attempts to beat them.

Isn't the Top Thrill Dragster record in the GBOW 124 mph.

No, it's 120 mph.

I don't understand the 50 seconds thing... it looks more like 25 or something.

Read the facts for TTD. A train is supposed to launch every 30 seconds, well TTD is 17 seconds long, round that to 20 for KK's extra length and height, then add 30 and 20 and you get 50 seconds.
07 I bet you'll get the first over 500' but in 08' we'll regain the record :D I have a feeling that will be the configuration, you get first in height class, and we get world records? LOL! For those who doubt this coaster's physics, it wasn't SF's physics team working on it, it was Intamin, so I am sure it is right!
You won't be saying that when it derails...

As for CP, I sure as hell hope they don't try to build something bigger. Please, let's just stop going there and build something fun. Y'all remember fun rides, right? Look at Dorney's Talon and now Hydra. Fun, not record breaking.

FORGET THAT. Record breaking is fun. Get a nice fun ride (flyer or floorless) for 05, then slap em in the face in 07. Thats how it should be. How can you not want taller and faster. A nice 500 foot millenium force type ride would sure hit the spot.

Also, OTS sounds ALOT less thrilling.

Kudos Six Flags! Awesome originality! I mean, thats so awesome! Where in the world would you get an idea to make a coaster that launches, goes vertical, crosses a tophat, and goes into a spiral!

That last part was a joke, the only reason they put that extra hill in there is so people wouldn't call it an exact clone. It's still a clone...just not...exact? Oh, and is it just me, or does 128 mph seem slow to get up? I mean, TTD doesn't zip over the top very often...

I really don't know how to put this so-

if the radar gun on TTD was showing the accurate speed of the trains or close the last time that I was there,(quite a while ago) which was hitting 128 mph +/- 1 mph for a few launches, and if SF is correct when saying KK is going to be launching with a speed near/around 128 mph, this means TTD could be tying KK for the fastest speed if not faster on certain days at certain times. Of course all of the conditions which the two opperate, the different wheights, and so on have effects with the speed...

just thought I'd bring this up before the "TTD is faster"-"No KK is faster" comotion starts.:)

From everyone on the CP&LE, RIP Mayor Scott...~

Well I don't think that an aditional 36 feet, 8 mph, and an extra hill will be enough to get me to SF instead of CP.
Well I can many new things going wrong for this ride when it opens. The efficiency wll be horrible WHEN it runs. I have a hard time believing that it will make it over a 456 ft hill if thats how far it relly is from track level. This could be just a huge hype for something that makes it seem taller. Sounds like th usual stupid SF move to me.

The 456 ft might be the height from ground level, not from launch level. If they were launching from 30, 40 feet off the ground I could see 128 mph making it over the top. But if that's how they're getting the height record, we might as well call this ride Kingda Moonsault Scramble.

What will they come up with next!?
