Because I've been on enough coasters to know that neither is a significant factor in building a fun ride. See: Talon, The Legend, Apollo's Chariot, Exterminator, etc.

How can you not want taller and faster.
Yeah, selling the park at a loss equal to five or six times the cost of this one ride would make perfect sense.

Could this be a reason why SF sold Geauga Lake/Sea World? To help pay for this thing?
As for the rest of you... get over it. I doubt very much that the park's executives are huddled in the corner of the rest room in the fetal position crying their eyes out or worried that it makes them look less manly. The existence of a bigger ride does not make anything at Cedar Point less fun. This kind of stupidity is what gives CP fanboys a bad name.

Walt, nearly every post in a messageboard is pointless. There's no bickering going on, just a bunch of disappointed fans having a knee jerk reaction and a few other people trying to keep CP fans on this site from looking like poor sports about it. You can stifle it if you want, I guess. *** Edited 9/30/2004 4:12:12 PM UTC by Anon***

That may be true at some message boards, but not here. If you look around other amusement park web sites, I think you'll find the quality of discussion here is much better. We run a tight ship, keeping things on target - and 99% of our members appreciate that. Stick around for awhile and you'll see we don't stifle for the sake of stifling.
OK, so vocally disagreeing with members of this website is "bickering." Got it. Nice usage of circular logic.

Oh yes, I'm sure this is the exception.
I dunno, I guess when I think of discussion boards, I think of people discussing things and getting into arguments and things, disagreeing and interacting, not moderators who come in and threaten to close down an account or stop an on-topic discussion.

I occasionally visit an amusement park messageboard, and that was where I learned of the new ride. I surfed over here just to see what fans of my favorite park were saying, and it was garbage like that. Yeah, I registered just to try to make fans of CP not look like a bunch of asses who will say totally idiotic statements to try to discredit the ride because it's at Six Flags. It's funny you decided to warn me for promoting a little objectivity over rabid fanboyism.

Interesting conversation is being able to present an argument to a forum without being warned by a moderator about bickering when you're not even trolling.
We run a tight ship
If by that you mean "not vocally disagree with posts that are rabidly pro-CP," then I guess so. My experience here is limited to two days worth, but having already been warned, that's the impression that I got. Good conversations aren't run on "Tight ships." In an internet forum (and I've been surfing and writing them for about 10 years now) that says it runs a "tight ship" usually means it's over-moderated. To each their own, but don't confuse policing conversations with good moderation.
Stick around for awhile
No thanks, I feel like I've wasted enough time here. I like to have two-sided conversations that you apparently label as bickering, and I suppose I shouldn't have expected that from a Cedar Point fansite's forums. I'll head back over to the CP fans on the more objective forums, thanks.
We don't care if people disagree or discuss. When they get stupid toward each other, we step in and put a stop to it. If you don't like that, as I said, move along.

Just to point out some flaws in this rumor. TTD has trouble making it over 420 ft. with 122 mph. What makes you think 128 will make it over 456 ft.? To add onto that 129 ft. hill at the end. MF has a hill similar to that and it flys over it at 93 mph, are they really going to send you over that hill at 128 mph? That's suicide!
Dragster is listed at 120 but clocks as high as 127. I'm sure this one will have so "play room" as well compared to the listed speed.

It is somewhat sad that we are loosing the title but I will still travel 16 hours to go to the point.
Something I have thought about, are we going to be able to go much faster without some type of eye protection?

It WILL have better customer service, have a more pleasing atmosphere, more family areas, cleaner, better landscaped, and rides that run! They are not going to be spending over 40 million on this park and do nothing about ride maintenance, They have the bait, they just need the "switch" for people who prefer CP, DP or HP.
Let's just wait and see what happens. I'm not a total CP freak but SF has done nothing to impress me, EVER. If all that happens good for them. I'd hate to see SF go out of business and all of us lose the coasters they have. SF does have a bad track record and this is their oppertunity to change that. BUT until that happens, I dont believe a word you said.
SF Has really surprised me with these new plans! I honestly thought this would be a parking lot coaster, with nothing else around it! They surprised me with the tiger exhibit where it is placed and what it will look like, they surprised me with the kid's section, water fountains, landscaping, and just the overall look of the entire project! I also have heard directly from Six flags (got some ties to SF) that they are doing a LOT more next year to improve the maintenance, and overall guest experience, so we'll see!
So, why in the world would Cedar Point clone Medusa to attract more guests!?

Oh, and you guys are making fun of us getting the same layout as TTD pretty much... If you get a floorless, I would be willing to bet it will have pretty much the same layout as Medusa!SF Has really surprised me with these new plans! Uhh have you see Hydra? Its nothing like medusa. If CP would get a floorless it would be more like that then the boring layout Medusa has.
Anyway, As for the CP fanboys/Sf haters. You guys need some help. The ride will be great, The launch is more intense and that extra hill probably will pack alot more airtime. GET OVER IT. Did you think TTD would stand as the tallest forever? Ofcourse somebody would have taken the record. So lets put the jelousy away and be happy that we're getting close to topping 500'.
BTW, Kingda ka wont have that straight away the TTD has after the launch. TTD loses 5-10 Mph during that straight away before it hits the tower. This ride gets straight to the point as soon as it leaves the sled.

With CP being on a peninsula and all, and specific foot prints that coasters can actually be built on, is it possible for them to even build a clone of any kind?
To me, every coaster almost has to be custom made.
