Things that need to go...

Actually Magnum XL CP hasn;t had the most rides for a couple seasons now. I bleive Six Flags New England or a Six Flags park around there has about 72 or so rides. CP only has 67 now. With the most being 68.

I think rather than remove DT, they need to add the theming back in, I used to love walking through just the queue of that ride because of all the stuff going on in there, now it's almost a straight shot through to the back stairs with those retarded painted on "3-d" images of a loading bay on the wall. I think restore it, like adding back the robot giving you your flight instructions and the conveyor up above. It was always interesting to see the number of stuffed animals in the bins as they circulated around.

Despite everyone who wants a 5000 foot tall 340 mph coaster, DT is great for kids who want something more grown-up than GJr and Woodstock but aren't ready for Raptor or MF or TTD.

From what I've read on here, everyone's favorite part of the light show is the fireworks, and being on whatever favorite ride when the fireworks go off. Well, why not do a fireworks only show. Yes it'll cost more than a lazer show, but it won't suck nearly as much. And it wouldn't have to last very long, even a 10 minute show would be worth it. Would it get boring to employees, probably, but for the guests who are there for their one trip a year it would be great. Besides that screen is an eyesore and it blocked one of the most beautiful rides in the park, the Giant Wheel, at least until the Wheel got moved for MF.

Anyway, enough ranting....back to work

Chris, I think it's SF Great Adventure that claims to have more rides than anywhere. The problem is that on any given day, a good number of them aren't operating! ;)

Good comeback. Most of their rides are being fixed or shut-down for the day. And don't forget that so far Six Flags has had I believe 1 or 2 deaths in the past decade and Cedar Fair 0.(except for some minor injuries, but nothing bad at all.) I remember reading it in a magazine.
Hey what about the Demon Drop being removed. When ever I ride it the line starts at the stairs by the station. Has anyone seen the line full? Now that we have Power Tower a bigger free fall ride, no one rides it. What do you people think about the Demon Drop?
JuggaLotus's avatar
PT isn't a true freefall, you are pushed downwards if I remember correctly....besides demon drop is a fun ride, I always hit it a couple times when I visit....its fun dropping down and landing on your back and doing the flip at the end to get back upright.....its even more fun placing a coin on your knee and trying to catch it before you hit the bottom, if it doesn't smack you in the lip when you roll onto your back

John

The Demon Drop is a great ride. The airtime is a lot more forceful than Power Tower. I also like to play a game with myself to see if I can find my car in the parking lot before it drops.

I have to disagree. I feel more of a floating feeling when I ride Power Tower compared to Demon Drop. Especially if you ride the drop tower side. That side provides so much airtime. Ride the Launching tower and you really get airtime.

I wish they would just remove the enclosure and turn DT back in to AR. I always loved the openess of the ride near the lake. It also looked a lot nicer than the big ugly box.

Life is too short...go ride a coaster!!

Back from a long hiatus! Surgery takes a lot out of a person, would reccomend it to anyone ;)! Anyways, on to my responses to the initial post, and then my thoughts...

1: Disaster Transport is one of the best rides at the park. Even better than CC Mine Ride in my opinion. And I have to give a LOT of respect to the crew to keeping such awesome intervals, it ain't easy! It may be cheesy, but it's one heck of a ride. I think I amazed Jamie from ESD by riding it about 10 times on ride night! I know I've ridden DT close to 500 times last season, more than any other ride!

2: Take out Wicked Twister? Okay, that's just insane. Awesome ride, and one that get's the kids or timid coaster riders ready for TTD. I don't see taking something out that isn't broken...

3: Take out WWL and lose the only water ride that children under 46" (someone correct me, but is Thunder Canyon 46 or 48??) can go on? You don't know how many times I would watch to see a small child come of with the biggest smile!

It seems that people, well OLDER posters, seem to want to rip out the smaller, tamer rides to put something in for themselves. Hey, I work at Cedar Point, a FAMILY park, or at least it was when I did my training last week.

If ANYTHING were to go anytime soon, my bets would be on the remainder of 'Tiques triangle. I'll miss hooking the Swucks (Hmm, people could NEVER tell if they were swans or ducks...), it was some good upper body exercise (not to mention screaming at people over the PA to sit down or stay out of the fountain!). I don't see them keeping Wave Swinger or the 'Tiques if they were to get rid of anything, which I doubt will happen anytime SOON.

I would have to agree with Gomez on his last paragraph, well said. I think the lights are TTD are spectacular. It's pretty neat to be 20 minutes from the park at night and be able to see Dragster all lit up from that far of a distance. I also agree that White Water Landing should stay, like said before it's a great ride when you want to get a little wet on those hott days. And during the summer that line does get long, and I think it is still a very popular ride.

Whoever said Demon Drop should be removed is nuts. That ride is a classic, and it takes up a very little footprint, so there is no point in removing it. Besides, it gives a lot better drop than the "Down" side of Power Tower.
If they remove anything from Demon Drop it should be a few extra cars, GL only has like 3 that actually are in working order and can be used on the ride. Send some love!

I LOVE the disaster transport. It is the perfect place to hide if it rains. I'd ride it all day. I hope they never remove it. The building itself is kinda ugly though. It looks just like an old storage building. My first time at the park I didn't know that it was a coaster.
Yeah if they removed Disaster Transport, It wouldn't be the same. It's fun going in there when the rest of the park is riding everything else and you can come over and ride DT and only wait like maybe 10 mins. That's the nice part about this ride. One thing they should remove is Cedar Creek Mine Ride. What I would like to see done is take out the old style of Cedar Creek Mine Ride and make it a floorless coaster. Totally clear that land, and build a nice floorless coaster, but add Cedar Creeks Old theming. I think that would be cool.

The only problem is the number 16. I don't think CP will get rid of any of it's 16 coasters. It's a part of marketing. But I agree if any coaster could be removed the Mine ride would be it. It has to be the worst ride with the saftey bar being the same for all FOUR guests. When they push it down , the big guy, like me, gets crushed.
I have to defend my lights suggestion...

Gomez said: The lights for TTD look great as they are. You can't see them really unless you're on the ride anyway.

Fat Chris said: I would have to agree with Gomez on his last paragraph, well said. I think the lights are TTD are spectacular. It's pretty neat to be 20 minutes from the park at night and be able to see Dragster all lit up from that far of a distance.

I must agree the TTD lights are extremely spectacular, and the tower looks great even when driving on route 2. I've even seen the tower, on 250 coming from Milan at night.

However, ever walk past Monster, and WW walking towards the front of the park, at night. If you look in the wrong direction mainly towards TTD, you will probably need sunglasses. Well, maybe they are not that bright.

Coming from a ride host point of view. From WW controls to the exit, we could just barely see the shadow of the person trying to clear the ride. I made several complaints to my supervisors last season about those lights. Most of which were agreed with.

My suggesstion for the lights were to attach them to the tower itself. Ala Power Tower. You would still get a Bright TTD Tower, maybe even brighter. The lights on the ground glosest to the tower can stay. As I mentioned before, CP is trying to light a tower not land an airplane.

So my suggestion, would allow othe people to not be blinded, secondly, it would create almos tthe exact same effect having the lights in parts of the tower pointed up.

You will still be able to see the tower from miles away. I don't think an idea like this will ever be done. I'm not going to lose sleep over it either, it's just an idea with concernes behind it, mainly at Witches' Wheel.

Which area does it blind you in?

The obvious answer to the DT, "problem," is to build a new facade to cover the offending one- adding a bunch of false-fronts, neon stripes and whirly-gigs to keep the eyes busy and compliment DT's surroundings would be a heckofalot cheaper than tearing a decent ride/warehouse down.
I like the theming because it looks really artistic like and the writing on the wall looks really neat.
