The fast pass system PART 2

Most of us can figure that a Tues/Wed/Thurs is a lot better than Saturday. Maybe some of us have used up our vacation days for our midweek trips to CP and are now forced to go on the weekends.
Just a thought and Jeff, that was encouraging news to hear.

Shreechowl & CP_Bound you show in your posts the exact reason CP is trying TTR as a way to handle the crowds. According to your posts the wait on 6/20 for MF was 1 3/4 hours, on 6/21 1 1/2 hours. IT IS ONLY JUNE. Trust me, if this is the crowd level now and you feel it is crowded then don't go near the park in July or August.
As I have already stated let's give CP a chance to perfect this system. They know "our" feelings and will be the first to change to keep EVERYONE happy. I have faith and I beleive in letting the "amusement park experts" take care of this. This isn't a game to them it is business. No, I don't beleive the almighty dollar was behind this move to the TTR. People were still spending thier money in the park even after waiting in line for MF.
CP really is trying to make it EASY for peole to enjoy the WHOLE park.
Again, I hope this system is either trashed or running perfectly in a couple of weeks. My employer has a large company event at CP and as one of the event planners I don't want members of our group confused/inconvenienced by the TTR.
The Ticket to ride system has already scared off non-addicts. This week my cousin and several friends spent two days at CP and didn't like the system at all. Now she is telling me that they will go to either Michigan's Adventure or Six Flags Ohio next year. Nearly everyone I've talked to doesn't like it at all. CP needs to make some adjustments.

Also, I think they should only use the system the fist year a coaster open and only from mid-June through August.

GO WOLVERINES!
I agree that it wasn't the money issue. Tickets cost what, $38? So CP admits over 3 million guests? That would come out to about 114 million dollars in admissions alone. More than enough to pay for the coaster and all operations.
Also, if this system was for crowd controll, it makes no sence to me because everything else will be more crowded, all the rides, all the shopes and all the restaurants. It seems to me to keep the park crowds more "controlled" they need to let there be lines for MF.

JT you've got my vote about leaving the lines alone for MF:)

Then apparently those CP people are just dense. If they actually *do* pay attention to user feedback and *still* insist on using the system, then they really aren't worth the salary they receive, are they?
Again, you have to keep in mind that the group that posts here is an extremely small part of CP's customers. I really do believe that most people do approve of the system, and if they do, expect the system to stay(not to say it may not be changed and perfected). Just because we don't like it, doesn't mean that everyone else in that 30,000 daily crowd doesn't
I have a question. I'm coming from Mpls. near the end of August - a thursday thru sunday. (two of those days for the drive!) I planned on going to Cedar Point on Friday and Soak City on Saturday. Is it worth it? Reading all the posts I'm getting the feeling that one day at Cedar Point is not going to be enought for me. I want to ride all the coasters. I'll gladly stand in line for any length of time, but by doing so will I get to ride all the coasters? I could care less about the other rides, I want to hit all the coasters.

If having this Ticket to Ride system in place assures me at least one ride on MF (since I will be there AS SOON AS THE PARK OPENS), I will be happy. I can say that I rode Millennium Force. I go home happy and will make the 12 hour drive to the Point worth it.

Am I crazy in hoping that I'll get to ride them all at least once? I've never been there before and don't even know if it's possible. Should I bag the Soak City idea and just do 2 days at CP? My friends that are going with me will want to only ride MF once (they aren't freaks like me) so I wont be disappointed if I only get to ride once.

But if I don't get to ride it once because there are people who abuse the system for their own good, I'll be very pi$$ed. I can completely understand being a season pass holder and not getting to ride it as often as you want, but what about the people like me who travel MILES to specifically get a chance to ride the WORLD's best coaster and don't get to because people like you need to get your "fix"????

I go both ways on the Ticket to Ride idea - I just really think that people need to give it a chance and let the bugs be worked out. Let them do if for as long as they need to this year and then decide next year what they are really going to do.

August 25-26 - Cedar Point
The previous post makes a point that I have been meaning to bring up. It has been my experience that most non-enthusiasts are happy to ride each coaster once and then go home. Maybe you can get them on twice if it is a really good ride. I know because I am always trying to get my friends to ride with me that 3rd, 4th, or 5th time in the same day. For these kind of people, the TTR system is great (assuming there is short wait for the ticket and then a short wait during your time block). You get your one ride in with a minimal wait. These are also the people that would see a 2+ hour line, get pissed, and decide not to ride. Since these customers make up the largests percentage of CPs guests, this is who they are trying to please.
Brattykid, Cedar Point requires atleast two days to comfortably ride all the rides there. Soak City isn't all that great anyway. So, take CP both days, seriously.

we just got an e-mail from the CP question dept about some TTR questions my boyfriend sent them...they now say that today, the 30th, and tomorrow the 1st will be like this..until 11AM the queue will be open to all....the first scheduled TTR is 11AM and the last scheduled TTR is 4PM!! then the queue opens to the public again. this is only for these two days...didn't say anything past that, but STILL, this is marginally better. not much, but VERY VERY slightly...
still think it sucks. will be watching the news all weekend to see if there are any small-scale riots on the Midway outside of MF...that's about all i can think of that could happen to make them actually ditch this system. hope it doesn't happen, but sometimes exteme situations are required to open people's eyes.
and i agree with Scooter on the Big Business thing, and i think that's what bothers me so much about this...to me, CP never FELT like BIG BUSINESS...it felt more like small business, like a family-owned park that was open and friendly and treated you like family when you were there...now we are being treated like free-loading relatives trying to get a share of someone's 20 million dollar lottery winnings...that's why i don't really like SixFlags or Disney parks..never get that feeling.

and Magnum Fan, please tell your non-addict friends to voice their opinions directly to CP about their TTR experience and how they do not wish to come back..every negative GP comment the get is a vote in our favor of NO TTR!!!

ride early, ride often!!!
Only using TTR from 11 to 5 (I assume they meant the last block was 4 to 5) sounds reasonable. On a busy day when the park is open to 11pm, that gives you 6 hours of TTR time and 7 hours of regular queue time. If you don’t like TTR, ride once in the morning and then as much as you want after 5.

new MF photos
actually, i just re-read the e-mail, and the last scheduled time is 3 pm, not 4...so the queue will re-opwn at 4, not 5...maybe sooner if we are lucky and all of the TTR people show up earlier!!

Servo, your saying you hope theres a riot around Millennium Force so they can discard the TTR system??????
Old Timer Tim, I realize it is only June, but my point was the line for MF was pretty much normal and all the other lines were higher then any other day I have been at the park this year. As a matter of fact I was totally astonished that the line for the Corkscrew was out into the midway on a Tuesday. Then I remembered alot of Kids had just completed school and that was why it was so crowded.

So it would seem to me that people are riding the other rides and that excuse is not valid in my book.

Things on MF were fine, they are screwing it up with this TTR thing. From all the horror stories I am reading here I seriously do not want to go back untill they either--

1) get rid of TTR, or
2) Make the TTR efficient

The first being the prefered option.

"go to either Michigan's Adventure or Six Flags Ohio next year"

I've never been to the Michigan park, so I can't compare. But TTR or no TTR, why anyone would want to go to Six Flags Ohio over Cedar Point is beyond me. Our trip to SFO on Sunday versus our trip to Cedar Point this afternoon: night and day. Wow.

I've been out of the country for the past two weeks so I am sorry if this has been brought up. On the DIG (Disneyland Information Guide) a wonderful article about Fast Pass the URL is http://members.aol.com/mousepla/alex/
As I think about it, the worst thing I can accuse CP management of is "sometimes over cautious." They are anything but stupid. All you have to do is visit any other large park and it will become very clear how good the CP people are at their jobs. I don't think the ticket system is very good but I am confident that the managers are trying something that they believe is worth a try. I am highly confident that it will either be made to work for the huge majority of people or it will be dumped.
Obviously Cedar Point has their eyes open, servo. They seem to want to do something about the negative response that the fast pass system generated. Cedar Point is now perfecting the system, so we better get used to it.
