The fast pass system PART 2

I may be wrong, but I don't think CP cares about losing any season ticket holders. To them the number is only a drop in the bucket. Someone in management has their mind made up and it's going to be "their way or the highway" IMO. Still don't know why they are trying to fix something that is not broken.

But if I had to guess, I would probably say that a lot of negative input had something to do with the TTR time change from 8:00PM back to 4:00PM.

maybe...we will never know for sure...but it still comes down to this...Who decided there was a problem that needed fixing and why is it so dang important? they had a major hit and coaster coup on their hands and they blew it big-time...that is my whole problem with this. there was NO PROBLEM in the first place. if people want to wait, let them. the first-come, first-serve, wait-your-turn way is the most fair way for ANY ride, be it MF, Raptor, Mantis or Frog-Hopper. i am willing to go back to CP, but i am not willing to do what they tell me to and ride MF when they decide it is convienent for me to do so. only I know when it is convienent for me to ride and i refuse to use TTR. i will take my chances in the early morning and late evening, which are my preferred MF ride times anyhow. i just do not like being told what to do or when to ride or what to ride by anyone. that is what this is all about for me...the idea of being told what to do and when to do it. i think others here would agree with that principle. if they feel they absolutely MUST do this, fine. but i will complian about it until i am blue in the face and i will find every way possible to avoid it. what's going to happen when they shorten the park hours after Labor Day?? will they dump the system or just make more "adjustments"?

ride early, ride often!!!
I have to say that I did not bother reading all these posts above and in the former thread. I just got back from CP and I just wanted to express my limited support for the new system. While I was a little annoyed at first when I showed up for my first ride on the big one and all the tickets were gone (It was after five). We all decided to just come back at eight. I still got to ride three times from 8 till 10 (barely getting back in line at about 9:55). I won't say more about the ride experience because enough has been said about this amazing coaster, except that my first ride ever on it was in the front row (what luck!). I think this system needs a little massaging, which cp will not doubt do, but I also think its better than waiting 3 hours for a 2 minute ride. It maybe good for the weekends but it isn't necessary on the weekdays. I also think they may want to give out more passes per hour. It seems silly that they built all those queues and no one is in them.
All I can ask is...are you people nuts???
I dont understand how ANY person can support this pass system. That is not the way it is meant to be and never was. They build queue lines for a REASON.
You stand, you wait. This whole concept of getting a pass to ride a ride you already originally paid for when you entered the park is crazy.I DONT CARE if the lines are 5 hours long. You anticipate that ahead of time knowing its a NEW coaster, possibly the best in the WORLD,and you wait for it.Hey...did we really enjoy our parents telling us what we could do growing up?Well are we going to support these people telling us when we can ride?WE PATRONIZE THEIR PARK..they dont patronize ours.We can make it or break it.If enough people complain about it,theyll do something about it.The guest relations manager told me that the system is getting OVERWHELMING support from the people who have used it.So that means we (the ones who disapprove of it)arent doing enough to make it clear how messed up this thing is.Lets stop all this BSing and get with the program and let yourself be heard.Complaining on here isnt doing a damn thing.
Gemini... Last time I was at SFGAm the restrooms were pretty clean. But if SFO's bathrooms are that bad, bring some Clorox wipes!
I wonder if CP is like Simon and Garfunkel as they said in their song: "All eyes ingest 'till the man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest."
Are they having lots of good responces because they want to hear good responces, or because it is actually good? Also, is the overwhelming responce from the riders or non-riders who don't have to wait as long for the riders?

"the Force of the new Millennium is being felt by those who choose to seek it.
I was at the Point on July 2nd and I didn't mind the pass. I didn't actually get a ticket since I lined up at 9:15 am and was on at 10:30am (the coaster was down for about 10 minutes around 10am). I only ride coasters once anyways so I didn't need to test the pass. I would hate it if I was a person that liked to ride the ride many times but since the queues are open before 11am and after 4pm people like me probably wouldn't mind. I also like that so many people are in either the ticket line or the queue since the longest wait was for the Raptor (45 minutes) all day. The magnum, mean streak, mantis were all 20 minutes or less. I agree that the TTR might not be the best system but I think something is needed. Many people want to experience the whole park and not just one ride so anything that reduces a possible 3-4 hour wait(in peak season) is needed. My friends and I could only go for one day since it is a 10 hour car trip. One more thing that might upset people, I don't think this ride deserves the queue it gets. The first two hills (not counting banked hill) are great but the rest sucks. I think that the Magnum is a better coaster since it thrills you the entire time.
My testimony:

I came to CP from California (visiting my hometown of Toledo) last week, staying overnight. We did an evening visit on Monday and I got in one ride getting in line at 9:15 - car 5, row 1, night ride: Perfect - absolutely the best coaster experience of my life.

On the next day, Tuesday, we were looking forward to another perfect experience. But it was not to be...

We wandered over to the MF line at 10:30 am to get our tickets for later. But they weren't giving out tickets - the ride was down. The line to wait to get tickets extended - unbelievably - into Frontier Town, over the bridge. We said f**k it and decided to come back later and see if there were any. Well, naturally, by the time the ride opened and they finished processing the line of patient people who had waited several hours on the Trail, there were no more tickets. And, lo and behold, my family (including my parents in their 60's and my kids in their sub-5's) wanted to leave around 6, well before the free line reopened. So no more MF until my next summer vacation in Toledo, in who knows how many more years.

I was royally pissed at CP. If they had just let the line be open instead of sticking with the stupid system, I could have had my second ride in the afternoon. Instead, screwed.

That's my testimony.

CP fan since 68.
Maybe its just me, but I was at the point on Friday and Sunday and got four rides, along with additional rides on Mantis and Raptor thanks to the TTR. I thought it went pretty well. I do understand the concerns of others who aren't spending a whole day there, but for me it seemed alright.
I will be posting my account of my trip maybe tomorrow. I've just got this itching to play RCT since I got home tonight :-)
TTR or no TTR, Cedar Point is the best place in the world.

Jeremy

i think it's a little of column A and a little of column B. of course they're GOING to say they have overwhelming support...who wants to admit they are wrong??? maybe to them, 2 positves out of 10 responses is overwhelming. maybe they are just ignoring any negative responses and maybe they are going to just keep this system no matter what anyone says. looks like we are fighting a losing battle here guys. if over 300 posts about this, many negative letters, phone calls and complaints coming in 24/7 for over a week haven't worked, we are not going to get this eliminated. although i still hate the principle behind this and i still feel there was no problem to begin with, we need to realize that TTR is here to stay. CP obviously sees it as the way of the future and maybe "changing the look of the park" means large holding pens all over the place where you wait for your TTR #'s to come up for each ride in the place. my promise to all concerned here is this...i will avoid TTR at all costs. if that means getting to the park at 6AM to be first in the open queue, so be it. if it means not riding MF or anything else with a TTR program, so be it. but i just woke up from a CP dream and i know that the place is too much in my blood and my soul for me to just stay away. the hurt over this travesty is still fresh, but the hurt of not being there is far greater. we still have today (busiest day of the year?) for TTR to crash and burn, but even if it does, it is probably not going anywhere anytime soon. if WE couldn't change their minds, NO ONE can. the best we could do was the shortened TTR hours. let's call it a small victory and take what we can get. just because it exists don't mean i gotta like it or use it!! DOWN WITH TTR!!

...or maybe they are getting 2 negative responses for every 10 positive responses.

You have to understand that this is still a test. It is not finalized yet. They ARE listening to us along with all the people in the GP. I can guarentee they are not ignoring negative responses -- that is not Cedar Point.
Is the fast pass system only for MF?

It seems to me that many people feel that CP established TTR simply to aggravate customers, and that even if every single patron was against it, they would keep it because they don't care about patrons enjoying themselves or ever coming back to the park. Think about that for a second - it in no way makes any sense. CP is in the business of pleasing as many customers as it can, so it can take their money and continue to operate. I have not yet experienced TTR and on first thought I am no fan, and yet I know if it stays in place there can only be one reason for that - it is meeting with an overall positive response.

Word on the street is that they have an 85% approval rate of those surveyed, but from what some people are telling me, those are people who got on with the system. Of course those people like it!

That said, as long as it is limited to the midday hours, I don't have a problem with it. Just let me know that when I get there at 5 p.m. on a Friday that I can get in line and ride.

I like the 11 to 4 idea better than the 11 to 8 or whatever. I had no problem with TTR.

Want to know more about MF? Go to
www.millenniumfpics.homestead.com
Well All I want to know is can I do the ENTIRE park in one 13hour visit?Even with this TTr?I plan to be in the queue line at 9 am waiting to ride.Even if I can only ride it once, still is it possible? Also for any of you who are interested,I have the MILLENNIUM FORCE Track layout for RCT.I have to know how to u/l it though.
Jeff, you hit the nail on the head...of course the people who get a ride with TTR are going to like it!! there is your 85% right there. if everyone who DIDN'T get a ride with TTR went and complained, that number would go much lower...
so anyone know what happened over the big holiday with it??

Hey now..I voted it thumbs down overall with a 2 out of a possible 5 rating..Like I said I gave the guy a whole list of ideas from this site and he ended up writing on the back of his sheet..He told me he would submit mine to "the higher CP gods"..I just laughed and said sure you will..Who knows what became of it...

I'm leaving for Haiti tomorrow for 9 days. Don't expect that they have any coasters there, huh?
