Stupid Things?

However saying that none of the rides have brakes means that either she doesn't understand the concept of what a brake is, or she goes to DPS.

DPS?????????

Let's Get Weird.

DETROIT PUBLIC SCHOOLS!!

Haha, good one, John! :)

About the brakes, that's about as bad as saying that Ford built a street car, and sold it without brakes. It's just not done. What do they do, take you like Twister and go back and forth until you stop?

My school is now crowded because of all the students from DPS's!! >:-(

While I find people that say things like that funny, I don’t find the people who crowd the stations funny. While Dragsters can’t really be helped if there's no one at the entrance, I refuse to stand by and watch Millenniums station go to heck. So whenever I'm in line and the station gets crowded because there's nobody manning the flow, I'll stop at the turnstile and allow the station to clear a little bit or until whoever was at the turnstile gets back from whatever they were doing. And if anyone gives my any lip, I just tell them I was told by a ride op to stop. I like seeing an organized station.:)

That's a great line. I've always tried to come up with something I could use beside the old standby, "You won't get on the ride any faster." I don't know why I didn't think of that. If you don't mind, I'm gonna put that one to use. A lot.

Whenever the station is to my liking, I just act like I'm getting a signal from an op to come in and add to it by saying "What? Oh ok, you want me to come in now? Alright"

I might use this one if I end having to help keep the station orderly again this season.
"Stop crying, it's not going anywhere......I'm doing you a favor so shut up and be patient for once in you life!":)

Or I might use my new catchphrase "Aww, cry me a river and I'll build you a bridge to get over it.":)

You could get philosophical on their asses. "Like sands through the turnstiles, so are the rides of our lives."

Hahaha! Or maybe riddle them.

I had an older relative insist that he rode Blue Streak in 1946 and would not believe the PBS special or official park info that indicated it was a different coaster.

OT: On one episode of the old Newlywed Game show, the wife was asked to name the capital city of the state where her husband was born. When the husband returned he proudly exclaimed, New York City! The wife flipped her card and it said Detroit. Hope they didn't breed.

Just say no to trims

Uhh, yeah.

So He did not know that Albany is the capital of new york. And I wonder what she was thinking with Detroit?

I wonder how many people that posted in this thread know that NYC is not the capital? It seems to be a common misconception.

Well, whaddya know. There is a Candy Mountain.

JuggaLotus' is correct when he says that's not being nerdy enough. That falls into the other side, one of general stupidity. :) Laugh away at that. But if someone doesn't identify a coaster by its proper name, who cares?

Maybe this can be settled by someone calling it in to 1-800-tbs-funny. ;)

You really shouldn't impersonate the directions that a ride op may give. If something were to happen you could be held liable for lying.

If the crew wanted someone to control the crowd, they'd have an employee do it.

Here's a good one. Several years back, I was on Swibinchen and this lady yells at the person behind her that she didn't know it spinned and went up and down. She was on a ride. Of course it spins and lifts up and down.

^^How is that lying?? Its not like Im saying "What? You want me to come up to the front without waiting in line? OK!". I don’t actually say anything anyway, I just make hand gestures (pointing to me and shaking my head).
In any case, I have had ops gesture me to come in after stopping at the turnstiles AND I have actually been asked to stop while the op at the turnstile went to do something. I've only held up the line a few times.

What's the crime anyway? Holding up the line that's going to get held up no matter what I do?? Oh man kick me out of the park! Even if I didn’t stop, they’d all flood the line till nobody can move and start complaining about it. And I can guarantee that it would continue until some got back. No to mention that it'd resume once I entered the station.
If I see it again this year, I will hold the line until the station clears a little bit......unless I am told differently.

I'm just curious as to what exactly bad could happen by letting the station clear out a bit?

Could it become less chaotic and more organized? Oh noes!

Maybe the ride ops could actually hear each other if there's a problem...that would lead to certain disaster!

There's a possibility that people could actually see and differentiate between lines. Oh the horror!

I can't fathom a single bad thing about letting an over crowded station clear a bit, unless of course you didn't catch the sarcasm in my 3 previous reasons.

Ride on, MrScott!

TTD 120mph's avatar

Thanks for that Bryan, I was going to post something like that but then people might get the impression that I'm an ass.;) (not that you are)
But yeah what am I doing wrong? I'm really doing everyone a favor......well ok not everyone since they will flood the station once I go through the turnstiles (unless an op comes in time). All that hard work for just a few people who manage to get a proper place in line without confusion. One time I was with my sis (not a cp fan) when we were in the station and it was getting really crowded. Well I started figiting (sp?) and my sis was telling me to "calm down, its just a coaster station!". I just could stand it since she didnt let me organize the station.:(

The only situation I could thing of happening because of you holding up the line at the station would be if there was a jerk behind you that got violent. Though I can't see where you would be held liable for that. Personally, I really appreciate it when someone holds the line back. The chaotic crowded mess that the stations turn into when noone is policing the line drives me nuts. There is no reason for the stations to get that crowded. Doesn't get you on the ride any faster.

And it makes it very difficult to tell what line youre in. Sometimes I cant tell what row Im shooting for whenever Im in Dragsters station. Then to top it off, the line for front extends to a point where it merges with the other lines and then people just get crazy.
Though I have found the second and third rows on Dragster to be the least crowded on some days......why I dont know. Perhaps it's soo crowded for front that people cant tell where the second and third rows are and crowd to the nearest row that hits them when they enter the station.

-Adam G- The OG Dragster nut

You blocking an entrance which might need to be used in an emergency and you don't see a problem with that?

Again, if the park wanted someone there to control the crowd they would have an employee there.
