I know this has been posted before but I couldn't find the post.
What are the stupidest things you have heard by people at Cedar Point?
I was in line for TTD in May 2006 and this women behind me, who was a coaster enthusiest, Told me that Xcelerator at Knots was 400 feet tall and they only built TTD 20 feet higher to break the record. I wanted to slap her but I just held it in. That was probably the hardest thing I have ever had to do.
Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust, Life is to Short so RIDE WE MUST

My favorite was while I was standing near the entrance to Corkscrew. I was waiting for a couple friends who were getting off so we could ride again, and so I waited by the entrance. The ride was pretty much a walk-on, so the sign had been dialed down to read "The approximate wait from this point is 1/4 hour." Some girl, who I can only assume has been failed by the education system, walked to the entrance and mentioned to her friend "Oh look, its only a 25 minute wait."

I sometimes fight to keep myself from correct these type of people, but I'd never slap them.
The good ol' misperception of getting stuck upside down when the power goes out drives me crazy. When you tell a person that gravity is the only thing that is keeping the train going between the lift and the brake it freaks them out more.

Apparently they are missing one of the big parts of a COASTer. Either that, or they think "coast" only means the land thats near water.

Does it really matter if someone does not have a firm grasp on roller coaster statistics?

It's irony day at PointBuzz!
"No, stupid, Magnum is 205 feet, not 200!"

One of the craziest things I've heard was this past October, final weekend at CP.
I was waiting in line for Magnum, and there was a group of girls talking in front of me. One of them said she wanted to ride "that new red coaster" after she got off Magnum. I said it wasn't finished yet. The she asked if they take all the coasters down for the winter.
I just had to bite my lip to keep from laughing.
It's not that we make fun of them for not knowing the statistics of Millennium, or Dragster, or Wicked Twister but rather that it's funny to hear what they say and just laugh and keep the true info to our selves. It's not their fault, not many people really care.........
And it seems that the funniest things I hear are primarily in Dragster line. One person said that the brakes were propelling the trains. All I do is give a quiet giggle and keep to myself. Though if I hear someone in front or behind of me say something like "I wonder how it works?" or how fast or tall it is, I'll just tell them in a kind manner. In most cases they ask me more questions in which I give them a full explanation. They then leave the ride with a better understanding.:)

"if i give you 5 bucks will you let me ride it agian?"
sure the worker says then takes the 5 bucks and points them toward the ride exit and says " the line to ride again is right over there, thanks for the 5 bucks!" .....
He then gave the guy back his money while laughing along with the whole line by the exit of millie.
I have had older people get mad at me. I was on the Wildcat with my friend and when we were done I said pleasure riding with you in a polite way and they said sure.
working entrance of MF "when did they move magnum and paint it blue? *turns to friend* I told you it was sinking!"

Me? Only typical my dad saying we should ride Twisted Sister and my mom wanting to ride Magnum Force.
:)
Summer was made for a Cedar Point day~
I went to CP last summer with about 12 of my friends for my birthday. Lots hadn't been in years and others hadn't ever been. They all had the funniest names for the coasters. They'd mix them all up, combine different ones together, or just make up names. It was hysterical. Instead of making fun of them, we just laughed all day about it. Truly one of the highlights of the weekend.
^^
I'd ask Mom if she really wanted to ride Magnum Force and when she agreed I'd tell her she's only a couple years too late, but we can go to La Feria Chapultepec Magico and ride what used to be Magnum Force. When she complains about going to Mexico tell her at least it's closer than it used to be in the UK. ;)

In my lack of experience in the park, I didn't notice anyone saying anything too outrageous. However, there were a couple of girls afraid that Wicked Twister was going to collapse or something because the supports were swaying.
You people with all these things you've heard, it makes me jealous that I can't get out there more often :(
