I think that most of this "anger" doesn't necessarily come from the fact that the ride is not opening, but more so because we have been kept so out of the loop. The blog has been really silent about things this week, which leads me to believe that the park knew the ride was not going to open this weekend for some time.I think most people are disappointed because we are constantly being thrown around. First it was opening weekend, then May 29th, and now who knows. Announcements continue to be made at the last second which is just getting annoying.
CP: just be honest with us and keep us updated on the ride's progress, don't wait until the last minute for updates.
People survived before when the parks could care less if you were an updated about a new ride during the off season. The only updates you would get is if the media decided to do a off season update not the parks. People are taking the blog and other social media the park uses for granted people should be lucky they even do this in the first place. But no they always want more.. There is no pleasing the enthusiast community.

Jugg what's to agree with? Something completely personal, like whether or not to be upset a ride is opening on time? We have watched ride after ride from Intamin have issues, we are watching the birth of another maintenance whore, and we can't be upset?
How do you know it is going to be a maintenance whore? The ride is not completed yet, you can't say it won't run well when complete. Once it opens it may be a very low maintenance ride water ride for all anyone on the forum knows.
I can't believe all the drama, anger and hate here. We have a great holiday weekend coming up, be happy. Me, I'm going to enjoy a little Cedar Point, a little Put-In-Bay and enjoy being with friends and family to enjoy the things that are open (and have a few drinks in the process).
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Or they could just put snipers in the trees along the frontier trail.
Ah, but you forget: they're removing all the trees. ;)

word!
I'm halfway through my first bottle and I have not even been on Magnum yet.
*Well now the 2011 ride has been announced.... >.>
Edit: This by far is not Cedar Points fault... They are a victim too..
(*meaning STR for those that didn't get it/person below XD )
I wasn't talking about off season construction updates. The blog does an excellent with those updates. I was just saying it would be nice if the park would keep us updated on the ride's opening status more than a day in advance.

Whoever runs the Cedar Point Facebook needs to just let the cat out of the bag and stop deleting posts of people saying the ride is not opening tomorrow.
Because maybe the ride is going to open tommarow. Cedar point has not said that it was not going to open tommarow yet. Perhaps the red cross event got pushed back for some unknown reason.
What I am trying to say is, maybe there is no cat to let out.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
^Exactly. What bothers me (a bit) is that if the ride does open this week or even next weekend, that auction ride will probably end up being next Saturday and cut into CoasterMania! a bit. If the auction ride is Saturday morning next week, I will probably have to decide between that and the Mini-Golf Tournament.

I made it to the beginning of page 5 of this thread before I remembered why I don't look at Pointbuzz very often anymore.
So what the damn thing isn't opening tomorrow? There's a lot more important things in life. There's also 60 something other rides opening tomorrow like they did today. Go enjoy them.
Hopefully I'll make my first trip to the park next week. This will be the first May in probably 8 years I haven't made it. Go figure.
on CP Facebook they responded to someones comment on whether or not STR would open tomorrow and they stated that they will have a update later today ..... So calm down EvilChameleon09, just wait. I know its hard, maybe take a nap?
This just makes me long for White Water Landing or the Zoom Flume at Morey's Piers. I still think this is the most disapPOINTing ride in recent CP history. If CP wanted to build a flume ride, why wouldn't they try to go for someting like the Zoom Flume and make it the longest, or enclose it to make it part dark-ride? Instead we get a mediocre layout with a generic theme. I'm not angry, just sad that CP has fallen this far. Do people remember when rides actually opened on Opening Day, or when we could actually expect something extraordinary from CP? The worst part of this whole mess is that the ride is not innovative in any sense of the word and yet they still can't get it up and running.
From CP's Facebook "has an official update on Shoot the Rapids. The ride will not open this weekend as planned. Our preopening procedures are taking longer than expected, but we anticipate it will open soon. We apologize for the delay, and we'll let you know as soon as it's open."
I am really pissed at the people who run that Facebook, be it Tony, or whoever. If someone posts something negative, whoosh, it's gone. Learn how to run it properly guys.

- coming from someone that has never worked in a PR dept
If you work for a PR dept your job is to basically talk about the good things so it brings people in. so with pissed of enthusiast clogging up there FB they will delete them.
From CP's Facebook " Inappropriate & irrelevant content, including photos, solicitation of events & other pages, etc. will be removed."
They have been able to keep people coming through the gates for 141 seasons without STR i think they will survive a few more days / weeks.
