STR Still Opening This Weekend?

The blog has been quite. Is STR still on schedule to open Saturday?

**IF** it is ,, they sure aren't saying anything about it or hyping it Like they should, (waiting for the webcam also).............Waiting

Boy, I hope it is. I will be kind of pissed off if it is not even ready by this Saturday.

I think if they already have the height requirement it will be open this Saturday...

It's been over 80 degrees the last 5 days, sure could have used the ride. Hopefully it won't miss anymore.

I see no reason to expect that it won't open as (re)scheduled. I'd think they would have let people know by now if it were to be delayed again.

But I also thought they would be hyping it strongly this week (the opening that is), especially with an important holiday weekend coming up. I thought for sure we would see a blog update this morning or yesterday. Is media day definitely on for Saturday?

I agree. The hype machine got derailed by the delay. It's doesn't appear to be chugging along much now.

It was reported at the time that the canceled media preview would not be rescheduled. I haven't heard anything to the contrary.

The only thing I have seen mentioned was this comment by Crazy Horse on Tuesday. But, that's just hearsay.

Just got this e-mail from the Red Cross auction representitive:

Thank you for your patience as we await Cedar Point’s announcement about the inauguration of Shoot the Rapids. We are told an announcement will be made by Friday morning.

Bidding was closed at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning. You can view the top 30 bids by going to our web site. It looks like we can seat everyone with a bid of $90 and up.

If the ride is a “go,” please make sure we have a phone number where we can reach you quickly on Friday. This is especially important if you plan to be on the road. We need to tell you when and where to report.

If the ride must be postponed, we will inform you. We will not reopen bidding and will simply postpone the ride for those who are already successful bidders.

It was a big name supervisor that told me that.

So I'm assuming then it will be ready by Saturday?

I think it is safe to say yes it will open.

I hope it opens up tomorrow since tomorrow is the first day of the Memorial Day weekend. I'll be up there for sure tomorrow so I can let yall know about whats happening when I get back.

If it's open tomorrow, it would probably be a media event. I am not aware of them ever opening the ride to the public prior to the auction riders riding. That is scheduled for Saturday.

I just got my call from the Red Cross this morning. Shoot the Rapids will not be ready tomorrow. We're in a holding pattern at this point. I'm not sure if he was speculating or not. But, he said they couldn't get the boats to work.

For a minute there I thought I was in a Six Flags forum...

That is hilarious. In a tragic sort of way.

I wonder what the discount is as a result of this delay...

Maybe they got STR out of the Intamin bargain bin.

I don't think they did originally, but with all these Intamin-responsible delays, it's a safe bet they are now! I just wonder how much.
