Passholder Preview Night

They are not cancelling passholder events. They are just evolving.

This year they're evolving a lot from what they were for Valravn, and that's very good.

How’s many people have passes I wonder. Hundreds? Thousands?

Yo, I don't know. How's many does you think?

The thunderstorm one is an interesting point though as if your day gets rained out but the other days are sunny. I would be pretty disappointed if that happened, along with many other people... I would hope that they would have a solution, but I’m not expecting it.

They don't need to create a solution due to the ever-present *Rides may not be available due to weather or maintenance conditions disclaimer that is agreed to when purchasing a ticket or season pass.

That being said, could you imagine the furor if there was constant rain or storms on the day of Coastermania? I don't see CP scheduling an alternative date for abbreviated or cancelled ERT if they're already offering a T-shirt, meal, and other events.

Additionally, it’s a free event. Why would they owe anyone anything if the weather was crappy one of the days? They may have something up their sleeves if the weather is bad but I definitely wouldnt count on it. Everyone who is able to go to the Passholder Preview... is a passholder. Believe it or not, you’ll have the rest of the season to ride. Yeah it would suck, but the risk of crappy weather is present all season long.

Even the food is free. Everyone there should feel like this;

Just an FYI for fellow dockholders, I picked up my marina platinum pass this afternoon. All ready to try and get passholder preview tickets. The changes they are making to access the marina parking lot are good. Its going to be much more difficult for non-boaters to gain access to the marina lot. It was great to take a walk around the marina today and just check out the park.

Good to hear. It’s about time people understand the Marina lot is the Marina Lot, not the Valravn Lot. Soak City Lot is the Soak City Lot, not the free premium parking lot. And the Breakers Lot is the hotel parking, not the Magnum Lot.

If you want to park closer than the main lot, Reserve a room, rent a slip, or fork over some cash like the rest of us do.

Awesome, thanks Steve for the info! 😀🍻👍

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Are the docks even put together yet? Also with the parking gate pass, this brings our number of RFID cards to 3? or 2? Should be one that works to access parking and the dock.

I really wish they would let you get into your dock early, April 27th is pretty late for the first day boats can be brought in. Right now I am not even looking at being dropped in until May 8th, but that is an issue with Craft Marine along with CP Marina's strict opening policy.

The old access cards will no longer work. One card will work the parking lot gate, the pier gate and now the bathhouses. The pier gates will be locked all season long unlike in the past. We will also not have to memorize a 4 digit code every month to get into the bathrooms. The newly issued card will access all of them. That is a nice upgrade. We will get 3 new cards. 2 for the dockholders and one for our guests.

They are supposed to start working the docks this week. There was some ice damage that I could see. Several of the center divider poles on some of the docks were damaged with the rise and fall of the water level with the ice. Overall, the docks looked in pretty good shape.

I 100% agree I wish CP would allow boats in earlier. April 15th isnt too much to ask. Most all marnia's start accepting boats by then. I store at Craft and am tentatively scheduled to go in on the 27th or the 30th at the latest assuming the weather is good. Its crazy the mad rush to get boats into the CP marina before the park opens. There just isnt enough time between when the CP marina starts taking boats and when the park opens to get everyone in who wants to get in.

Hopefully one day. I'd be happy with Wi-Fi in the marina since they have it everywhere else .

Thanks for the update Steve. That is good to hear that there is only going to be one access card, much easier than multiple to keep track of; I just hope I remember them all the time. Last year I forgot to take one with me and of course came back after 9, with a craky wife and kid. Had to hop the fence to let them in, felt that landing for a few days.

I would love for them to accept boats earlier in April, but not sure how receptive they are to change. Last year was our first season.

Also, wifi ... I have yet to be at a marina that has acceptable wifi. I would think at least with the park they have experience implementing such a large system, but boats tend to make for some interesting signal bounces.

We've always used the back parking lot. The 9:30 policy they have now really was an issue for us. Nobody says it's premium parking... especially now that the back lot has its own preferred parking section. It's just a better option for the back of the park. And its been that way for years.

But yeah, the marina lot is the marina lot and my family almost never used it except perhaps to turn around or stop for a few minutes (somebody waiting to pick us up at the marina entrance.) We don't actually park there, and I wasn't aware you even could get away with parking there if you didn't use the marina.

No one should get away with parking in the marina lot unless you are in the marina or going to a restaurant. Hopefully the new gate and access card will make it very difficult for unauthorized people to park there.
