I doubt CP will get a TOP spin, just because of what we've been hearing a lot of. I'm hoping for a Floorless Coaster, but what's been rumored throughout this thread is we'll get a B&M Flier. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
I agree with the top spins being lackluster. I think Tomb Raider:The Ride at PKI is a borefest.
I've only been on 1 topspin, the one at GL, and it definitely left a lot to be disired..
All I want is a coaster. Who needs to have SFMM manage to get ahead in the coaster race. Save the flat rides, you cant have to many coasters.
I agree. CP has probably about nine or ten flat rides already. How many different ways to get dizzy do you need? Of course, I'm kind of biased because I don't like that type of ride anyway. I'd rather have a flier, but I'll take just about any coaster over a flat ride.
But wouldn't a top spin make CP more of a "family oriented park"?
It really wouldn't make it a more "family oriented park" because who rides top spins?...The same types of people who ride rollercoasters. Well there might be an exception here or there but you get my point.
Yeah, I agree. The only way something would make CP more family oriented is if it was a very gentle ride, example a double or triple ferris wheel. Something just about anyone can ride, suitable for the whole family. CP is still very family friendly, but another ride in that category would be nice.

Question... Do you get wet on Rip Tide?

If your in the very front row...barely. A speckle here and there.
Yeah, CP does have some flat rides, but how many are truly quality or in the caliber of something like Delirium at PKI? Zero.
I've rode both Delirium and Tomb Raider countless times. They are very thrilling, but I would prefer another roller coaster.
I may prefer another coaster myself, but if they build a new thrill ride, I will be there. When is it going to be enough coasters at CP? You have all kinds of ride experiences and there's nothing revolutionary out there right now. I would prefer that they wait and put in something that is not necessarily a record breaker, but fun nonetheless. Besides, records are not all that important. Outside of the coaster community, who cares?
I'd rather have a ride like Delirium than a flying coaster. If I had to pick one type of coaster that is hugely overrated it is the flier. I've been on X Flight at GL and Superman:Ultimate Escape at SFGAM and I didn't like either one. I know it will never happen, but I'd sure love a 4D coaster in our neck of the woods.

How could you not like X-Flight? That coaster rocks. Maybe it's because you thought it was too short. I think your right though when it comes to Fliers. What I would prefer for Cedar Point to do is build a Floorless. Lets face it, when SFMM builds something cool, Cedar Point comes right back and builds something even better. A floorless would be good because you could possibly match something just as good as what SFMM has with SCREAM. And yes I'm crazy about Floorless coasters. My favorite kind though is the Giga. Anyway I think that would fit good especially if it's rumored to go where everyone thinks it will go which is where the Antique cars are.

Record breakers ARE important, it gives marketing advantages, and makes marketing the ride easier.

I agree with you on the fliers. They're over-rated. I would much rather see a ride like Delirium or a floorless coaster. 4D have some kinks to be worked out, even though X is an excellent ride.
Apparently, Thunderhead did not need to break any records to get rave reviews or recognition by the coaster community. And, it still brought in the people to ride it. *** Edited 9/10/2004 1:33:37 PM UTC by DragsterRaptor***

You're wrong... you get soaked, not sure which Riptide you've been on 'cause there are only 2 rows (back to back) and each has their own set of head-on sprayers. Although you do get more wet in the center section. Just rode twice this past weekend at KBF... walked off drenched. I'd be disappointed if CP adds this one next year... I wouldn't even call it a thrill ride, it's tantamount to Chaos.
Yea sorry bout that. By the looks of that pic it seems almost identical to PKI's Tomb Raider, which you dont get soaked on.
