No 2005 Coaster?

I'd like to see them put a coaster in the lake. Corkscrew perhaps?

I wouldn't mind riding Wildcat if it's giant "box" frame was simply placed upside down in the lake. Oh, but put like a million water wings on it to make it float. It would be a great thrill, and it would teach the little ones about water safety. :D
Wouldn't that be bad on the supports though, because during the winter the water freezes and I'm sure that would affect the support structure.
Well, I'm not sure of the depth of any part of Lake Erie, and I'm not sure how it would be done exactly. If it were constructed anything like Mantis, the supports would never touch the water. Only the footers would be submersed. Then again, what do I know?

Yeah, they could rebuild a ride in the lake very few years, just like they had to rebuild the entire walkway behind Soak City.

Why the hell would they build anything in the lake? Cedar Point does not have a space problem(TM).

It was a joke Jeff. Sorry I forgot to put the :) in there. :)

Cedar Point is like a box of chocolates. You never no what you're going to get. :)

With Dorney Park getting a floorless, what do you think the chances of Cedar Point getting one are? The answer very high. This might be like what they did with Xcelerator and Top Thrill Dragster. Knott’s got Xcelerator first as a prototype to see how it went over, and then Cedar Point built TTD. Since this is the first floorless at a Cedar Fair park, they are just seeing how it does. Then they are going to build a big one at Cedar Point.

That is some logic, but the floorless coaster is a proven, reliable design. Cedar Point’s next coaster will most likely be a coaster type that has been done before, since Top Thrill Dragster had a lot of downtime this season. If the floorless does well at Dorney Park, there is no denying another Cedar Fair park will get one shortly after.

Worlds of Fun may be taking out Orient Express since it has a lot of downtime. They may replace it with an Intamin rocket coaster or a B&M inverted coaster.

Cedar Fair parks have Intamin rocket coasters and B&M inverted coasters, so both sound reasonable. I’m not sure the park would want to take out the only other coaster with interlocking loops, though. Of course anything is possible.

Snake River Falls and White Water Landing at Cedar Point will be repainted during the off season.

Does this mean they’ll get a different color scheme or will the turquoise-colored fiberglass parts of the rides be repainted so they look better after a full season or more of operating? With water running over those parts frequently, it is expected for paint to come off and to become dull.

Cedar Point will be getting a B&M flying coaster for the 2005 season. After the reliability issues with Top Thrill Dragster, Cedar Fair decided to go with a reliable design. The ride will be a custom design and possibly be the tallest and longest flying coaster in the world. The Antique Cars will be removed to make way for the ride.

It sounds plausible. If Cedar Point really wants to kick Six Flags Great America and Worlds of Adventure where it hurts, they can build a big, custom flying coaster. Both Six Flags parks compete with Cedar Point and both have flying coasters. I’m sure Cedar Point built Wicked Twister for the same reason. It’s bigger and faster than the impulses at the Six Flags parks and it has two twists. This logic can carry over to a flying coaster, which is reliable and can take guests away from the competing parks.

Well speak of the devil, they already did! Check out Spinning Dragons, the new spinning wild mouse that has been built in the park, near where Orient Express sat.

That was last year dude. Sorry for your luck. *** Edited 8/14/2004 2:13:07 AM UTC by rogue kielbasa***

"you're a naughty boy, and that's concentrated evil coming out the back of you"
TTD: 15

After seeing what PKI is doing for next year, CP better come up with something, fast. They are about to lose some of their Columbus market. Truly, CP needs more quality flats. But, if they are going to build a new coaster, let's forget tallest, fastest, onliest, you get the picutre. What ever happened to just plain fun. Look at Thunderhead...it holds no records but is one of the most fun coasters built in recent years. I say forget records and start going for more quality than quantity. I'm not saying TTD or MF or WT aren't fun, but I think they should start with a more simple approach.
Amen! :)

You know bridges up in the north, like the Mackinack Bridge in Mackinaw City, Michigan. The water completely freezes in the winter, it gets extremely cold up their in the winter. Lake Erie only averages 20 feet in depth, the deepest parts are out past Kelly's Island. So of course they could build a coaster over the water.

Well I think if they build the floorless for next season, I'm sure they won't care about the height, they'll just go for the inversion record.

Of course? Are you an engineer? Have you seen the size of the foundations of those bridges?

Apparently some of you don't remember the condition of the beach walk along Magnum in '98, after the winter washed most of it away. You further neglect to consider the agencies that would need to get involved, including, but not limited to, ODNR, the US Army Corps of Engineers, the EPA (state and federal), etc.

It's not going to happen. There's no reason to do it. Let this asinine rumor die. People have wanted to build coasters in the lake and the parking lot now for the six years this site has been around, yet managed only to build ride after ride elsewhere.

I heard the same thing yesterday, but heard they will remove White Water Landing. At this point I'm not sure what to believe. I also heard that in 2007 there will be a 500ft+ coaster. Someone who works at CP told my dad this yesterday. Both rides made by Intamin.

Who knows?

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

When is the Atom Smasher being built? Is that the 500ft+ coaster or not??? ;)
I really don't want a 500 foot coaster because we already have broken the barrier 4 times. We have 4 coasters that were the tallest and fastest at one time. Gemini(125), Magnum(205), Millennium Force(310), and currently Top Thrill Dragster(420) feet. I'd rather see the tallest floorless coaster that keeps getting rumored. Cedar Point should just build something fun. I mean where the heck you going to put a 500 foot coaster? You going to take out the picnic pavilion and make it stretch around Blue Streak? There wouldn't be much of a route for a 500 foot coaster. That's just my opinion. Cedar Point surpised us all when they built Millennium Force though, but who knows.
There's been rumors that Kinsel is gonna go out with a "bang" with something HUGE in 2007 when he retires. Some believe this means a 500 footer. That'd be interesting, but i'm more hoping it's something ''huge'' along the lines of breathtaking and amazing, and not just really tall. A 500 footer would be nice, but just not all that necessary. All I want is something that's just reliable and fun. Maybe it'll just be a giant floorless, or a giant flyer. Maybe a dueling wooden coaster. Maybe it'll be 2 coasters in one year. Who knows. I'm just not all that much for breaking the height barrier once again so quickly. Spread it out, give us something to strive for in much later years.
