Parks don't put in two hypercoasters. Leviathan is the world's first B&M Giga. Purchasing a hyper would be very expensive for something they already have. The money should be wisely spent on something Cedar Point doesn't have in their coaster lineup, such as a B&M Flying Coaster, Floorless, Dive Machine, a good woodie, a Boomerang of some sort, or a Polercoaster that would break the record for the world's tallest coaster.
When Millennium Force and Maverick combine it becomes Millennium Horse.

Canada's Wonderland put in two really really big coasters that don't have inversions, built by the same company.
Parks determine what coasters they're going to add based on a wide variety of data -- not by checking coaster types off a checklist.
As a father, here is my wish list:
- a true family roller coaster in the place of Mine Ride. While I enjoy the classic ride, it does not provide the thrills sought after by a 48" and up rider. This ride needs new vehicles to accommodate smaller guests, or needs to be completely removed and replaced with a Cedar Point version of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. I was reminded of how fun this ride is just last night when my family took a spin--- it's fantastic especially with its 40" height requirement.
- Disney and Dollywood do something brilliant that would be very cost effective and easy--- they have playgrounds/kids areas near every big attraction. It's not hard to find something to do with smaller guests near most rides, however a playground area similar to the ones found at Disney would be great near Millennium Force. This area seems to often have a large number of people sitting and waiting for older family members to get off the ride.
That's all.
I worked at CP last year and have several friends who currently work there. Word around the block is that we are going to be seeing a Dark Ride going in place of the Main Midway Arcade and a B&M Giga coaster similar to Leviathan but taller and faster.
But then again…that's just unconfirmed rumors. However, I definitely see it as a likely possibility.
I can believe the dark ride possibility. Ouimet likes dark rides. Not surprising coming from a Disney background. Knotts has had two of their dark rides refurbished by Garner Holt in the past year and a half, and it has been alluded that Cedar Point will once again have one. Garner Holt is made up of former WED engineers ( they are doing contract work for the Mouse). I've seen their work at Knotts and it's first rate.

Please. They're both big coasters of the exact same style, regardless of some arbitrary multiples of 100 in height. Again, there are two wood coasters, two carousels, three car rides.
And by the way, Canada's Wonderland won't be the only Cedar Fair park to have two B&M speed coasters either...

Remember, CP also has Magnum. Whether they add a "second" Millie depends more on will it draw more customers, are lines at the existing coasters too long (thus discouraging attendance), etc. CP has 11 large steel coasters (plus 2 woodies). I'm not sure that they need a 12th. Or that they feel that they need a 12th.

Thus high lighting the problem--a "family" "thrill" ride. Lots of thrills = 48" height requirement.

I wonder what the return on investment is for the arcades nowadays. As much as I love all the retro machines in the Coliseum, they took out the Gemini arcade and I'm not really sure where else you could put it. I'm also not really sure you could put a dark ride in the Coliseum without removing the ballroom upstairs, unless their intent is to do just that.
Arcades don't rake in the cash that they did prior to the introduction of console and PC games, but they are capable of making money if you keep the inventory up to date. As far as using the Coliseum Arcade for a dark ride, as I recall the ceiling is fairly high, the building has fire sprinklers and has more than adequate fire exits as it exists now. There shouldn't be any reason for doing anything to the ballroom.Does OPS still have their offices in that building? If so that may have to be moved.
Out of sheer curiosity, someone please walk me through the logic that would preclude a park with an existing 200 foot or 300 foot coaster to make the decision not to install another one.
I want to see inside your brain.

They don't need another one?
If an existing park can handle X number of people per day (say 40,000) and they are only drawing Y people (say 30,000) an additional "200 foot or 300 foot coaster" would have to draw people who are not satisfied by the existing "200 foot or 300 foot coaster" collection to make sense.
CP has a 400 ft coaster (TTD), a 300 ft coaster (Millie), and a pair of 200 foot coasters (Maggie & WT). If people do not go to CP with those coasters, I'd love to see the logic that would compel people to assume that THIS "200 foot or 300 foot coaster" will draw people who do not go to CP despite the existing lineup of "200 foot or 300 foot coaster."
Now, if CP were near capacity ON A REGULAR BASIS and people felt that they were not getting fair value and stopped coming altogether (as opposed to going on Halloweekend Fridays instead of Halloweekend Saturdays), then there might be logic to add more to the "200 foot or 300 foot coaster" collection.
You have seen the inside of my brain. God save us all :)

Please tell me, with a straight face, that you just suggested that Cedar Point would "wisely spend" their money on a Boomerang.

Well, I'm sure it would be a Floorless, Flying, Wooden Dive Machine Boomerang. Or maybe a Boomerang Aquatrax. :)

Cedar point will not be getting a dive coaster. Still wondering about mantis turning into a floor less coaster. A flying or GCI woodie is possible. I think a polar coaster is what they need. Since space spiral is gone they could use a new observation deck.

ALL of the trees next to the beach have been removed
Nothing more than opening up the view. As far as I know, those trees and brush grew wild. It's not like it was established landscape. I always considered it unsightly and I think it looks a lot better now.
I think they'll make a RMC Hybrid for Mean Streak.

You're working on the assumption that people who are not coaster enthusiasts assign significant, well, significance to the height of coasters. Maverick broke no height records but has proved to be popular.
Not only that, some people are working under the assumption that Tony is going to announce a new big coaster.
