News: CP blog shows photos from WWL site

My favorite pasrt about WWL was the revolving station. :)

It was the little waterfall...but that is an ancient memory.

When was MF announced? I remember being very young and seeing a sign with a picture of Magnum the season before it was built. Were any other rides announced before the previous season ended? Anyone have pics of that Magnum sign?

Shawn, the Boneville guys go inside every winter. Besides, if they were eliminating Boneville, that would point to elimination of the train, and that certainly isn't happening if they just moved the tracks.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

Now a roller coaster with some part through water would be great! I still think it will be over 500 feet and a starting launch of 25mph (like I heard).

just a thought out of the blue, make the old station into a merry-go round themed too WWL

True, but what if Boneville were to be moved or rearranged?

Or maybe they just kept the station up to drive us all crazy and immediately demolished it after the photo was taken...........hmmmm.

Yes, they would meticulously remove parts from inside the station and keep the integrity of the building while no-holds-barred demolishing the rest of the ride...

...just to "drive you crazy." </sarcasm>

Well... that is running out and saying "look, we're doing somthing for 2007!"

I'm amazed so many people are getting so excited about CP constructing a new parking lot.

Think about it - what better way to drive traffic to the back of the park then having an entrance right there?

You heard it here first: 2007 will be the year of the Mean Streak revival campaign, and this new parking lot will be the centerpiece.

I just hope they put some trees between the rows in the lot to restore that area's previous beauty.

CP fan since 68.

What if the WWL station is not the station for the new ride, but they just incorporate the track in the station. The WWL station would be a nice place for an end run turn or even helix, and it would be a different element being under a cover. I guess I just can't get RCT out of my system.

You know, I was thinking the same thing. I was also thinking that a loading station wouldn't necessairly have to follow the curve that WWL did. Why wouldn't they be able to put a straight section from one end to the other for "traditional" station loading? This thing is getting more and more interesting.

WWL's station would be useful as a themed quene for the new ride if not used as an integral part of the ride such as a station platform.

I think maverick has potential for integration with such buildings. Imagine having a scene with a dummy maverick glide in and appear to bust into a building then a huge fireball.

Here is a video of a real maverick in action:

I wouldnt see how that fits into Frontier Town?

I too am very upset at the useless slaughter of the trees. It seems that over the years the shade/tree/lush environment has been taken away- starting in the front of the park, and then moving back as Mantis was built, followed by Dragster. Millennium seems to be the only ride that Cedar Point was successful in building around the trees.

I don't understand why CP can't see the importance the element of landscaping is to their rides, and learn to work around it, taking out as little vegetation as possible. The trees that were around the train tracks have been there for 100's of years- most of the trees in frontier town/trail have been there before Cedar Point was. 20 years won't get you what was already there.

Also- boneville is irrelevant to this new attraction as the skeleton scenes don't appear until the second stretch of the train ride--- just clearing that up to some who seem to have forgotten.

I think we should convert the entire peninsula into an arboretum.

Haven't you heard? The rides are the landscaping! ;)

I agree with you completely. Its one thing to take a few trees out here-and-there to make a project a bit easier. Its completely different to raze 5+ acres to help the financial bottom-line.

I have one question I could never get answered, is the platform revolvingor was the stationrevolving??? :)

Technically, both - though on very different axes. ;)
