Very, very smart for CP to generate the buzz by doing this. I could see more people going to the park more often this year just to see what the heck is going on. While probably not a significant number of people a few extra salivating enthusiasts will help right?

I think they did great generating the hype for Dragster by letting Fox 8 Cleveland come in once a week and report it to the Cleveland area. I'm sure they'll do something similar.

The space that they moved the train tracks by doesn't seem to be a whole lot. I've heard rumblings that they did the same thing when they build Millennium Force...? Is this true, and how much did they move it by, and where?

They kept the WWL building... that's pretty cool. Let's just hope they don't put up large walls to block out all progress...

They will have fences up. And odds are there will be plastic or some other opaque covering to keep eyes out (and people out). Seeing that the station is still intact though lends hope that the WWL station will be reused for the new ride. It would be nice to integrate that historical aspect into a new ride.

Jugga I will have to agree with you. Makes you wonder!

RIP MR.SCOTT The ONLY MAYOR OF LIGHTHOUSE

Looking at the picture of the RR tracks, my heart literally sank.

Is it my imagination or have they literally cleared out all of the trees??

Nope, they only did it figuratively. ;)

I'm on the "WWL station will be part of the new ride" bus.

I sure looks like they cleared out the clump of trees between the tracks and the old Frontier Carousel building, though a few of the trees are still standing.

The WWL site is pretty much stripped of trees, which is not unlike what the site looked like when WWL was new. Given CP history, they will plant small trees and bushes. In 10 years the area will look mature again.

than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Yes, the tracks were moved outward a bit for Millennium Force, but not far.

They'll put 40 foot fences around the WWL site, except for the part facing Mean Streak's lift hill. Those will only be 15 feet high.

That way someone might ride it. If it's the only way to peek...

BTW, they're not really building anything on the WWL site, just trying to salvage MS {chuckle}

Hey, I heard a rumor that Top Thrill Dragster is sinking...

That's a pretty big area to try to hide behind a wall.

Fencing is pretty cheap though. And usually construction sites get fenced off to keep people out. Its just a question of will they do anything to obscure the view through the fence.

OMG ya I have to agree with Old CPer. I LOVE the trees during that train ride.... It bothers me to no end that they are cleared now... I know they have to clear land to do work, but hopefully they will do an aggressive planting of pines or some other foilage which won't take 20years to grow.

It doesn’t matter if they are trying to hide the area or not, they will have to put a fence up around the whole thing. Otherwise people WILL walk through it, either a bunch of enthusiasts trying to find clues or kids just taking a shortcut.

You guys are right. It bothers me too that they took all of those trees out. That is going to be a beautiful view of either a 234524ft fence or a mud pit from the train. Yes, I will ride mean streak in order to get a view of the area, and that is one of the few coasters my ball and chain will ride.

2008 visits = 38, 2009 = 19, 2010 = 11, 2011 = 14, 2012 = 10, 2013 = 14, 2014 = 14, 2015= 13, 2016 = 11, 2017 = 5, 2018 = 3

Yeah, its pretty interesting that the WWL station is still there.

Yeah i saw that post and my jaw dropped. Tottally weird, why do they have to do that kind-of stuff to us? Just makes me wonder... a lot.

Maybe they are just keeping it as a history piece? It is pretty scenic back there in them parts, with fronteir trail and all. Maybe there just keeping it as a momento.

although, it would be awsome to see them use it for a new ride. Possibly the "rollercoaster" that all the rumor has been about, called white water landing? dun dun dunnnnnn

I'm not saying there won't be a barrier. But I'd be very surprised if they tried to hide six acres behind a wall.

Uh...or they could call it Maverick...

I, too, am a bit miffed by their "tear all trees out" mentality, but it does make it easier for them to maneuver heavy machinery and cranes around when there are no obstructions. Let's just hope that they redeem themselves as far as tree planting goes because, in my opinion, they fell short with regards to restoring the vegetation around Dragster.

If they put up fences at all, they should be see through, chain link fences. Why see through? Well unless they plan on putting up an impenetrable wall all the way around (even lining the train tracks) then I see no point in letting people not see into the area while walking by. Doing the tall white wall thing this time around seems like it would be too costly for something they are just going to scrap at the end of the season.

I have a question I'd like someone to clarify. The caption to the photo with the recenty moved tracks mentions that they had previously been to the left. Now is that the camera's left, or to the left when riding the train? Where the camera is sitting, it looks like there is a decent amount of space between the train tracks and the Perimeter Road fence.

Did I mention it was going to be a fun year? :)
