Dragster only had a midway side fence up didn't it? So you could still view the site by taking a ride on PWE right?
I would imagine the same for this. Fence inside the park, nothing on the RR side. People can stop and watch (and clog things up) when on the midway. But if they are on a ride, they're bound to the ride and can't stop and hold up traffic. Of course, this could also mean an additional officer along perimeter road to monitor the situation.

I don't see any reason to put up a fence or wall around that site. They won't start construction until fall anyway. They didn't wall-in the Dragster site (but they added all kinds of ugly walls after they built it).

Wouldn't they at least put up some sort of fencing, perhaps akin to what is found throughout FT? Just to keep people from straying off the walkways?
Anywho, after hearing the news regarding the RR track movement, I have a feeling that there's more being planned for the area than just new ride(s). It would seem that perhaps they'll rework the entire section, seeing as how they could fit a lot more in there, other than just rides. New attractions (shops, etc.) in addition to a new ride would certainly boost attendance back in that area.

Would you rather keep the trees and not get a new ride in 2007 or tear them down, get a new ride, a regrow them?
Something tells me no one will be complaining opening day 2007 about those missing trees.
I like ambiance as much as the next guy, but this America's rollercoast, not Ameriflora.

Maybe they are keeping the old White Water Entrance Pavillion to protect a large footer this winter. If you all remember correctly the footer that Walt took a picture of for TTD was poured in the late summer early fall and was hidden behind a wall and was rather large.
Just a thought.

Did I have to say more...? ;)

From everyone on the CP&LE, RIP Mayor Scott...~
Remember when dragster was being built, they put a wall up around the tower section of the ride. The only way to see over it was to ride gemini.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
I really like the idea of keeping WWL's station.
What a great way to commemorate its memory, and keep continuity in that piece of land. :)
Retrofit it for the station of the new ride, like:

Not that I want another launch coaster, but you get what I mean.

Well there's what you want, and then there's what you get...;)
Kevinj, the same thing was said about the trees removed during Dragster's construction, and yes, several of us are still complaining. I think they could have done a better job of restoring the vegetation to the area.
We can only hope that they get it right this time though.

The interesting thing [edit]is if a coaster were to use the WWL station[/edit], you would board the train while it's on the turn since that's the way the station's designed. Kind of like how you get off Dragster.

I have to wonder if this will be announced early like MF or will they wait untill November......or later? Also with the tracks being moved there must be something "Big" on the way. (No pun intended)

101 on Magnum and counting...
Maverick to me sounds like a water ride. And if there keeping the old WWL station then it COULD be for a water ride. If cp doesnt use the station after the next coaster there could be another water ride coming.

Or you could stand on the bench that was right next to the wall and look over...lol.
The fact that they're already posting teasers for this project more than a year before it opens is really getting me excited, they wouldn't start this early unless it was something really big.
I would be really mad if it was a water ride, because they are already building up a buzz.

CP Bound...
Good point. Im still a nerd and play RCT2 all winter long, and right before I read your post I just realized the first thing I do after a build a coaster in one of my parks.
I put in tons of trees for it to wind through. :)
I share your hope that regrowth will take place in a timely fashion, but old pictures of WWL's site make me very confident that it will indeed.
I think I need to take a look at a before and after picture of TTD's site. Quite frankly, that was before I ever started coming to this site, and while I visited the park every year, I think ive become more particular and observant about that stuff. ANy quick links to Before/After shots of TTD's site? I honestly cant even remember what it looked like.
You know the station still being there and the skeletons from boneville taking a vacation, and also now there being a lot of trees missing really begs the question! Is this a coaster or water ride. I really have to wonder if the residents from boneville will be back or not. That is a huge chunk of land that was cleared and I'm kinda upset that the trees are gone. That's part of Cedar Point history what are they thinking?!! I am however happy that they kept the station. Now does that mean the revolving moving platform is gone then leaving just the structure? This would make a lot of sence if they did because they could use that beautiful station and make it turn like Dragster does.
