I was just about to mention this when i saw your post. Do you really think they would have track being shipped already?
I also heard that CP may have a 4 coaster contract with Intamin and they make a aquatrax coaster.
Its not unrealistic to think they're getting track - especially if there are multiple attractions being constructed.
No contract.
Brandon
YES!! LOL! We had a "contract" mention on the same page as news that track was showing up.
*kicks feet up and calls it a day*
I'm gonna buy into this for now..
This could be part of their marketing strategy to have track show up early. Hopefully it's track they know they can use. It would suck to find out a footer is off it's mark and have to fab up a new piece.
I highly doubt they are tailoring their schedule to enhance marketing. Nobody (besides us - a VERY limited number of people) knows or cares about track arriving.
Brandon
It could be an aquatrax coaster...

If so, how do you think cp will theme it? We all know the attempts on theming they have had in the past.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Even if they are only building one coaster it isn't extremely odd for them to get track so early. There are so many things that can effect construction time. Maybe they are anticipating a lot of track, a complex circuit, poor weather, a lot of testing for new parts, etc etc... If they spend the better part of this season constructing it they will probably have a more efficient ride on their hands and the GP will have something to gawk at.
Maybe it will even open before the season is over, who knows.
Maybe it will even open before the season is over, who knows.
Now that would be something.
Hopefully we'll get some photographic confirmation soon. Hey, maybe Walt and/or Jeff already have pics and they're just waiting until Saturday to post them. HINT HINT :)
Brandon
Delivering one or two pieces of track would not exactly be tailoring to their marketing plan. But enough to drag people out to look. Think of all the ACE members and other coaster clubs. The news in Cleveland/Toledo certainly picked up on footers being poured..
It's just a thought..
IF this was going to be a highly themed coaster (such as a mountain) it would make sense that they would want to do a lot of work before the winter freeze. If it is going to be more than one attraction then perhaps they just can't get it done between October and May.
Who knows?

does anyone know how long "stealth" (or now BORG Assimilator) took to build? didn't they built it as a prototype coaster which took quite a while to complete?
maybe that is why CP is building something so far in advance? they don't want another TTD nightmare on their hands?
I don't know what it was, but as I headed to the park this morning, there was a large fenced in area in the field next to the Breakers Express with a crane in it. When I left this afternoon, there was something that was quite large in the fenced area as well; it was covered by a blue tarp. Since I was driving though, I couldn't get a good look at it. Just before I left I also saw a flat-bed truck pull into the Soak City parking lot. Something may have been delivered. :)
Edit: Oh, and Robin Innes mentioned several times that they'd say something about it later in the season. *** Edited 5/4/2006 7:51:35 PM UTC by DBCP***

Jeff has, "connections." ;)
I forgot to mention... There are three signs on lamp posts in Frontiertown, near Snake River Falls and the construction. There might be more, but the three I saw read:
1. "Back up, Bronco! This here's a construction zone!"
2. "We're goin' in a whole new direction!"
3. "Here we go again!"
Whether these are significant or not, I don't know, but the 2nd one might be.
