Horray! Part 2

Trip Count 2003: 13 2004: 24 2005: 22 2006: 25 2007: 25

So an early topic summary:

Febuary 22 - T&T revealed the tracks for the railroad were moved over; speculation begins.
March 3 - Something is a-foot! A picture of a couple footers is revealed on the blog; speculation skyrockets.
April 3 - The Proejct 2007 envelope which reveals... nothing.

Now when people have been going to get their season passes, they took a drive to the back of the park and there appears to be a couple things to see, but nothing too ground-breaking. In essence, however, there is nothing solid revealed that anyone can base a solid judgement on, only more speculation. Cedar Point opens 11 days from today, so more people will be able to go back to the park to see what's going on.

Be sure to take a trip to CP this year if your gas-guzzler can handle it and see for yourself!

Maybe I might be able to keep up on this version of it. ;)

There have been various reports that the Swan Boat lagoon has grown in size. If, in fact, that is true then I think it leads one to believe that something water related will be tied into this project.

If that is not true then I really don't have a clue.

I have said before that I think it will be a water type coaster. A great deal of hints point in that direction. First of all, they removed the only flum ride. Seccondly, they kept the WWL station and now the rumor that the other lagon may have been expanded. It is a very different concept and still very possible.

Maybe it will be some new type of coaster like a floorless or sitdown that goes in the water, like a water coaster.

I'm still hoping for a new modern flume for 2007. :)

What about a coaster with a water feature like Shiekra? Can't the same feature be put on something like a floorless? At BGA (aka BGT), there is an area by Sheikra's which i believe is called the splash zone. It is a fun area where a family to take a break and let the kids have fun with the water splashed up by the passing trains. I think the swan boat pond could be converted to a pond like the one seen here.

I think that would satisfy the people who want another water ride as well as the people who want a new coaster.

Or what if they do something like with Silver Bullet? http://rcdb.com/ig2536.htm?picture=53

So what if they're just increasing it to fit the element that'll go over it?

Just a thought.... *** Edited 4/25/2006 10:53:44 PM UTC by TTD 120mph***

Where hints are concerned, CP333, you missed one.

--Dave Althoff, Jr.

Sheikra doesn't actually splash the water. It goes through a "canyon" and jets spray water to give the impression that the train was causing the splash.

It is still a neat effect and it is fun for non-riders...but the train doesn't actually go through the water.

Not saying you are wrong or anything about the train causing the splashdown, But Technically there are the two tubes if you will on the underside of each train, and those dip down into the water and the speed of the train forces the water through the tubes which cause the "rooster tails" behind SheiKra...So you could say that the train actually does cause them persay...but the riders dont really get wet.

And I think it would be a great element to add back there, although Since its already been done you would have your certain fanboys complaining its a clone ;)

^^Exactly. What I am refering to is the area where people can get wet by the passing trains "rooster tail. It on a path that goes under the track seen here.

I was there this past summer on a hot day and the kids were having a blast getting sprayed by the passing trains. It is the same idea of Snake River Falls when you used to be able to just go on the bridge and get splashed. Just a fun interactive area.

I agree with you Alexandersco 100% that is a fantastic Idea in my opinion. Im not a water ride person but definently think a b&m with that water element similar to sheikra and silver bullet would be really cool.

However good investigating by RideMan and other obvious details like they took out a water ride, they havn't built a water ride in a while, and that is a water ride area of the park point to some sort of new water ride.

A lot of signs point to a new Water Ride. Which I am sure will be awesome and all. But I am really hoping for a coaster. It does not need to be 1 billion feet tall or set any records... I just really want to see a new no-gimmick, traditional roller coaster.

Steel or Wood, Inversions or new.. I just want a coaster.

Imagine a flyer that rolls riders onto their backs facing the sky as it dips into a element similar to Sheikra spraying water using the same tube design only located in the front train to soak riders.

I stand corrected. Those are tubes on the train. I guess I didn't get a good look at them when I was there. I wonder what kind of maintenance that requires. That has to be a pretty significant amount of force being applied to those tubes every time they hit the water.

Cedar Fair CEO and president Dick Kinzel said originally the park was considering a new water ride for the 2005 season, and that would have been in Frontierland. Kinzel said the park typically likes to keep water rides in one section so guests aren't walking around the park wet.

I still hold with my (much) earlier thought that they will use the WWL station and water pumps and install a water ride. Not something like a B&M that will "pretend" to go through water, or simply fly over water...but will splash down in water.
