I say it will most likely be a coaster.
1. Construction this early. The theming theory isn't working for my since Kinzel stated they won't make a big deal of theming anymore.
2. Without a coaster in 2007, it will have been 5 years without.
3. I assume that they expected to be passed in the coaster count by six flags, and planned accordingly. Don't give me the "they don't care about records" crap, everyone here knows they like considering themselves the roller coaster capital of the world.
I would also not be surprised if multiple attractions came in 2007, including a water ride. I do say that in whatever plans for 07 they have, a roller coaster is included. There are to many signs to say not. Adding family and multi level rides does not mean nothing else can be built.
I don't think it's that they do or don't care about records, it's more about caring about records that you can MARKET. I don't think anyone cares if you have the tallest and fastest slide in the world. ;)
If CP can do something really special with a type of ride, which they've become famous for, then I think they're set. I'm not concerned about traditional stats like height, speed, or inversion records so much as I am concerned with it being an enjoyable ride, and CP has never let me down. I have all the faith in the world that whatever they are building for next year will make all of us happy people except for those who are always going to want more.

That's what I was getting at. All the enthusiast hype it's getting from people who have either an idea or know what it is...cough! cough! mr scott, cough! cough! :) *** Edited 5/2/2006 2:26:08 AM UTC by TTD 120mph***

In my guess, Ill say its going to be a dive coaster. We have all herd rumors of the horseshoe / half moon layout of footers in the swan pond, so look at this....http://rcdb.com/ig2662.htm?picture=39
Again, this is just a guess....this could be just a simple thing like a turnaround.
From our very own Jeff over at CoasterBuzz:
It's not a dive machine.

Well, considering Mantis has the same design element (U-turn at the top of the lift) it really tells nothing. If anything it might be a bigger hint at a B&M but gives no clue as to what type.
Goodbye MrScott
John
That's kind of what I was thinking, though looking at other B&M's, its hard to tell - they're supports are all over the place. It'll be much easier to decipher once we have some pictures and quantitative info, such as general size of the U and what-not.
Brandon
...or you could have listened to what I've been saying the past 3 months about it not being a dive machine.
Does anyone else who has read these two threads feel like their time would be better spent slamming their head against a wall? Seriously, it started out ok, with a few off the wall ideas, but now it's something ridiculous every other post.

Actually, its the same few ridiculous things, along with a couple relatively feasible things, repeated over and over and over and over and over and...
I guess thats why Jeff has given up on us. :(

It isn't going to be a high turnaround unless there is a footer in the center of the U like on Raptor's helix. Also, Why does it have to be a high turnaround? Although that would be awesome with it towering over, I would imagine it to be a small turn out of a station like this: www.rcdb.com/ig296.htm?picture=9. That seem much more reasonable.

ok, i think its safe to say that nobody knows what is going to happen here. all we know is they got rid of a classic ride that many people enjoyed. They moved the tracks for the train and they have a couple footers. untill opening day no body is going to see anything and untillmore obvious things start showing up we wont know what this thing is at all. we cant base things on holes and piles of dirst. no one knows why this bulldozer thing was buried in hole, no one knows if the thunder canyon que line has been moved. waht im saying is that we need to have patients. cuz if we dont, then we will only eat ourselves alive!!!!!!
The hospital needs patients, we need patience. ;) But only for a few more days until we see what's going on!
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Cedar Point is a beautiful park, especially in Frontier Town. People want to see the water and trees not a wall. I'm for anything that will add to the atmosphere to the park.
Let me give you an example of what I'm talking about:
http://www.hohpe.com/Gregor/Travel/2001/Orlando/splash_mountain.jpg
It's artificial and built with steel framing, yet the finished product is beautiful. That would definately add to the atmosphere, as well as character to Frontier Town.
There's a lot of concrete in and around the TTD area that is ugly, which was once occupied by trees and water. But that doesn't stop you from riding the coaster.

But remember...
Cedar Point<>Theming ;)
EDIT: It didn't like my not equal to symbol... :(
