News: Cedar Point blog shows footers at WWL site - Part II

This whole "we know more than you know" thing is getting annoying. And as someone mentioned over on another site whose name will not be mentioned because I will get in trouble, they're taking away publicity from Skyhawk with all this Project 2007 stuff.

I think I'll leave it up to the professionals (yeah, the guys with degrees who are getting paid to market the park) to decide how they'll do it. I think they know best how to market Skyhawk and Proj2007.

Secondly, you won't get in trouble for mentioning another sites name (at least I doubt it) but putting your sites address with promotional language in your sig will get you in trouble. Just a friendly heads up.

I like the fact that some people are in the know and I'm not.

I like looking at the footers and wondering what it might be, knowing that someone is laughing at me.

Yes, everyone will learn to ride the train very quickly starting opening day. Our ridership on the R.R. will increase this year thats for sure! :)

Going on the lines of T&T, 'something is afoot' only 4 feet from the moved railroad track. So as I always have said, ''Get over and ride the train!'' ;)

The train was the easy one, it's the other half that possibly limits the options (2 mega loopers interaction on MF island, 2 flyers, and 4 D). Time will tell.

Ho man these next two days are going to crawl...

I counted about 19 footers in the pond alone. Its nice to finally get documentation about this, seeing as how the reports have varied so greatly.

Again, I have to point out that a 4D seems unlikely, though this could be my own wishful thinking. Two reasons for this thought are these:

1. Marketability - With CP seeming to consider family-oriented attractions so important to park success, it would seem that installing a 4D would be counter-productive to that cause. A 4D coaster is arguably much more intense than a Raptor-esque or floorless invert coaster. On the flip side, CP has installed Skyhawk which is quite family-friendly and Maxair, which is quasi-family-friendly, so this reasoning might be moot.
2. Insider Comments - I'll again (probably the 7th or 8th time now) mention Jeff's comments regarding the new ride. He said (and this is not verbatim), "we'll all be happy". Earlier on in completely unrelated discussion, Jeff made his opinion of 4D coasters pretty clear. He seemed to feel that the ride experience on X was an overall disappointing one. One of the reasons for this was the capacity, if I'm not mistaken. (Of course, correct me if I'm wrong on this, Jeff.) Having installed Maxair* and Skyhawk with hourly capacities of 800 (compared to 1800 for Raptor), it would be wise to install something that can move people through the lines rapidly.

So, while logistically a 4D seems unlikely, the comments in the OnPoint! blog certainly could indicate otherwise. There's always hope, though. ;)

As for dueling coasters, I'd have to say that also seems unlikely, given the quantity of footers. If it were a dueling configuration, it would seem that there should be more footers than shown in the pictures. From what I've seen, the quantity seems inline with a typical B&M Raptor or Mantis style setup.

Time will tell, I suppose. I just want to ride Skyhawk! :)

*Estimate: 50 riders per 2.5 minute cycle + 1.5 minute for load/unload = 750 riders/hour. Simply adjusted result to match Skyhawk.

This may not mean anything, but has anyone noticed how 4 out of the 6 posts by T&T regarding Project 2007 have been made on the 3rd of the month? 2/3, 3/3, 4/3, & 5/3.

I've looked through my crystal balls, and they predict a floorless.

I am going to avoid looking at your crystal balls.

But, I am thinking that the 2/2 comment is sounding more like 2 attractions going in at once.

I am still convinced a water attraction of some type (be it a water coaster/aquatrax or super flume) will be one of them. The other may, in fact, be a coaster.

That would explain a lot of things for me. It would explain Jeff's comments that "we will all be happy." That would explain the early construction.

I had an idea a while back that a coaster and wet ride could interact with each other making it a fun experience for everyone in the family. That side of the park would suddenly have new life. Maybe that is it.

But, I also believe something else may be in the works right now that is going to knock everyone's socks off...and it has nothing to do with the new attraction(s).

We're getting an automatic sock knocker-offer?

I now think it includes a water/coaster hybrid, along with a revamp of the whole area. There is some major crap going on back there.

Having seen the pictures of the footers in the pond, an aqua trax along with a larger coaster (2 coasters together) may very well be what the crystal ball says.

Tom, I'm not good at posting links but try to go to this link and tell me if the footers you saw in the pond could resemble the picture.

They are round footers in the lagoon. So, yes, they do resemble those footers seen in the photo you linked.

So far, I haven't seen anything that contradicts what my thoughts on Project 2007 are, other than to say that it wouldn't surprise me if it was a Flyer/Floorless and Water Coaster instead of a Flyer and a Floorless. I still think that's a possibility, though a Water Coaster really makes a lot of sense as well. This most recent blog also alludes to both of the things I said: two coasters, and a new trail/midway. I really think that is what it hinted at with the "path always taken is not always the best" comment. The path between the WWL site and the Antique Cars has always been taken, but it's not as good as a path that goes back and connects to the back of Frontier Town, or even the Mean Streak area. It will very interesting to see how this all plays out....

As far as enjoying this year, and Skyhawk, I certainly plan on it. I knew Skyhawk would be great from having ridden Screamin' Swings before, and while I'll certainly look at the old WWL site while I'm there, I'll have much more enjoyable things to do most of the day. It's not long now!

Take this with a bucket full of salt, but someone over at CBuzz reported that "Red Intimin Track" has arrived at Cedar Point.

Last week on the Skyhawk cam, I saw a crane in that area hoisting a red "tube". On the next image it was gone, but I couldn't tell for sure what it was. This would be interesting. I can't believe after the issues with the 3 Intamins that CP would go back to them for a fourth.
