Tony and Tyler have just made a post about Project 2007. They tell us they won't tell us about it...(big surprise). But to put two and two together and leave us with words of wisdom....
"If it looks good, you'll see it; if it sounds good, you'll hear it, if it's marketed right, you'll buy it; but... if it's real, you'll feel it."
^Meh, they said they like to leave hints/puns in the blog. For me, "put 2 and 2 together" made me think of dueling. Then again, that's just my first reaction. I agree about seeing things best from the train, though.
No one's gonna know for sure until they announce it. Seeing track arrive may narrow down the manufacturer. Seeing it set up might narrow down the type (4-D, flyer, etc would need "upside down" track, while floorless or sitdown would be regular). Footer placement or look means almost nothing, because supports and track can and often do extend out at angles from the footers, and the same ride can have a variety of different looking footers.
Enjoy the park in 2006. Don't forget to take a break and actually ride a few rides while you're staring at the patch of dirt and concrete.
I'm thinking that "the path always taken is not necessarily the best," likely means that the best clues will be found in places other than the main midways (ie: Train).

The track style depends on the flyer. Some (like this Vekoma) you start off laying on your back and then roll over at the top of the first drop. Others (like this B&M) are suspended coasters. Lastly, the only 4D (X) the track starts beneath you, but because of the rides configuration, just seeing it set up wouldn't tell you. HOWEVER, if the 4D is done like X, there will be an extra set of rails to go with it, so that would make it pretty obvious.

Here's my two cents:
"The path always taken is not necessarily the best."
A New midway will be created closer to perimeter road that will give another route for going back to frontier town.
"Put 2 + 2 together."
Two 200 foot dualing coasters.
For whatever it's worth, T&T have put subtle hints in their blogs before.

I recently came across some pictures of the area, although I'm not going to say where, because I don't know that the photographer had permission from the park to take such pictures.
That being said, there is definitely a 'curve' of footers in the Swan pond, and it looks as though they've also enlarged the pond. Most of them are cylindrical, although it does appear that there are a few that are cubic. Also, the Thunder Canyon queue has indeed been changed. Lastly it seems that there *might* be some form of construction going on on the trail, although that could be from anything, and I couldn't make it out from the picture.
