But then again, they'are all just concrete clumps and bolts, right?

What I said in the 2007 Project Update Thread:
I've heard from sources that the area has been "flooded" and they believe that the ride, whatever it is, will be mostly over water. Hence them keeping the old loading/unload station? A western theme?
Possible Maverick name fits RIGHT in - in the frontier town area + old loading platform + water .... lots to think about...
Still doesn't point me in the right direction, BUT with Kinzel's last year, I think he'll leave with a BANG. Coaster. I don't believe at ALL that it will necessarily tall... (500 ft? yeah RIGHT...) just a great coaster, exciting, etc.
ANyone agree?
I've always thought this will be a water coaster, and looking at the info on Intamin's web site, an AquaTrax seems very possible.
Individual cars will fit nicely in the reused WWL station. There is only one ride like it built now, so it certainly is new and different. Also, this will easily allow CP to make it the largest of it's kind, so it fits in with what CP likes to do.
I think CP is getting a western themed AquaTrax ride, and I wouldn't be surprised if it actually will have a lot of theming on it.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
the color red for a water ride though? There must be a good deal going on for red paint....we're painting every coaster red til we run out

Hello, just joined today but have been looking around for a while. I found this interesting trip report about the only Aqua Trax coaster. Seems it has a lot of downtime/maintenance issues. Due you think Cedar Point would try this after the issues with TTD?
From the sounds of the TR, that park is an all year park. Since year-round parks don't have the benefit of an off season to the kind of work that needs to be done to keep things running. So, they have to do it by shutting down rides periodically. Some people thinks this means the ride is unreliable, but it is just the nature of having a year-round park.
Look at Disney, for only about 4 months of the year are all rides and attractions open. The rest of the year, something or other is closed for rehab.

Gee, if I took a picture of the blue tarp on top of my hurricane damaged house I wonder if it would generate as much excitement?

The tracks over by my house have been moved. I wonder if a coaster is coming.

In regard to the signs that were up, I think it's a pretty safe bet that the new ride is going to be called "Maverick." That first says "back up Bronco!". Well, a Bronco is the same as a Maverick: a wild and untamed range horse. I think that's definitely an allusion to the name of the ride being Maverick. Obviously, we're all pretty certain that at least one of the 2007 additions will be named Maverick, but this sign seems to be even more confimation.
Right away when I read both the tease about the path not taken, and the sign about "a new direction", I went back to my suggestion that there will be a new midway back there, and the current path between WWL station and Antique Cars will be removed. I really think that's what both of those are referring to.
"Here we go again" I think is pretty obvious, as it relates to CP building another coaster, and adding to their already huge collection. It could also mean they are again building a record breaker, or raising the bar for amusement parks.
I do think an Aqua Trax coaster is a strong possibility, but that it will not be the only new coaster added. Look for a new B&M Floorless or Flyer in addition to that, and I think you have the new coasters coming to CP as part of the brand new Frontier Town, in 2007.
Take care and God bless!
I honestly think we are getting a B&M flier. Looking at the footers in the pound and by looking at Superman - Ultimate Flight in Gurnee, Illinois the footers are damn near the same. I also was looking around on thrill***** there is a pic that looks like there is B&M red track under the tarp. I could be wrong but it does look about the same.
Just so you guys know, there are only so many shapes that you can make footers, a cylinder (being the strongest 3 dimensional shape) is pretty darn common. There is nothing that you will be able discern about what type of coaster it is based on the footers.

While it does appear that there is SOME track under that tarp, there is also stuff that looks nothing like track at all....and I dont think anyone has verified that it is intamin. IMO, B & M is a much more logical guess, and that could just as easily be B & M under that tarp as Intamin.
See you all Saturday!
Im walking out the door right now for Sandusky! :) The wait is over!
Actually, John, a cylinder isn't the strongest 3-dimensional shape. That title belongs to our friend, the sphere. But, I know what you meant - just giving you a hard time. :)

It certainly looks a lot like Intamin track, though I really hope its not. I want a floorless! Or a sit-down looper.
EDIT: Am I the only one for which those PointPics links NEVER EVER work? They always go to a '404' page at TPOL.

I was going to say it was one of the strongest, but then didn't, and now I remember why I was going to. For a columnar shape, the cylinder is the strongest. There, is that better? :)
