New ride... place your bets!

Bring everyone up to Cleveland and stick the conference in the IX center. Then set up some full size ride demos... It used to be a tank factory! Pleanty of room! ;)

I would love it if they brought the convention to Columbus, except you wouldn't see me anywhere near there on Sat if it happened to fall on the same weekend of the game.  I would probably be in the shoe, or at a giant party that would probably be held in the french field house.  I don't think it would create much of a problem having it that weekend, especiall if it were on an odd year when the game moves north

My kids have played volleyball in the convention center. Trust me, that building isn't even remotely large enough to house IAAPA.

Vekoma has developed an impulse type coaster they call Hammerhead Stall where the cars turn at the top of the spikes to always have the apssengers face downwards. (correct me if I'm wrong).  It could still be possible that CP has bought one to help Vekoma, or they could still have bought an intamin impulse.  So there is competition to let CP hold off the announcement till later this month or December.
What "competition" is letting CP not make the announcement? Why would this matter, and why would they buy a coaster to "help" Vekoma (unless you're saying that Vekoma gave them a highly discounted rate because of their problems or something.)

Vekoma prototypes = BAD NEWS!

I don't think CP will ever swing that way!

I guess my post is a little confusing.  I was just pointing out that there is another prototype besides the intamin impulse.  So it might be possible that CP is holding on to their announcment in case a park has bought a Vekoma version...

The impulse is a prototype? I thought Six Flags had several..what kind of impulse is this?

I think they meant a Vekoma Impulse would be a prototype, not an Intamin.

You think the I-X Former Tank Factory is big? Then you've never seen the entire Orange County Convention Center stuffed to the gills with the IAAPA show. I mean, IAAPA is BIG. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way across the park from Blue Streak to Mean Streak, but that's just peanuts to IAAPA. Listen, the last time the show was held in Orlando, there were more than nine miles of aisles among the booths.....!

I'm not sure about the overall truth about this, but isn't there several levels below the main level of the I-X center that is larger in space than the main level?  I'm too young to know much about the I-X center so I might have read the wrong info. So correct me if I'm wrong.  But, if there are than it would be possible to have nine miles or so among the different levels

Gotta love that airtime on Blue Streak...
Ah Ha, A Vekoma Hammerhead has been purchased, or at least it sounds like it...

What do you think.

possibly true if cp knows about it then they are probably waiting to announce number 15 so that vekoma doenst modify their hammerhead coaster.. Just a thought.

There are more levels below the main level.  I did a trade show in one of the lower levels last year.  Not sure how much total space is available in the basement.

Mr. Kinzel dropped a few hints in the 11AM conference call, but came no where near talking about new ride specifics.

He mentioned what seasonpass just quoted as well as something to the effect of:

'We feel we have capital expenditures in place for next year that will really benefit the California and Ohio markets.' (read: Knott's and CP)

Not an exact quote, but close.

The conference call was actually quite interesting to listen to.  It's cool how it's an open forum format so investors and the like can call in and direct questions directly to Mr. Big.

That vekoma hammerhead looks pretty swweeett to me . I bet its a killer ride, hope some park around here picks up on this.
With Vekoma's current cash problems.. I wouldn't count on it...
