New ride... place your bets!

That may be reading a bit too deep...:)
Given the new launch system to be used at Knott's they could easily get 400'.  Now, at that speed you have to wonder if it will have the twists due to the g-forces.  My vote is dual racing vertial spikes to 400'.  Likely using MF cars, not inverts.  See the Intamin site for one built that had only vertical spikes.  That kind of speed (100+) would be nuts!

(looking at www.cedarpoint.com)

I notice that while the new banner notes that the park is closed for the season, Millennium Force is still running (in the other banner)..... :)

I'm waiting to see the new promo video for the ride (I hope).  I've seen the MF one so many times that I'd like somthing new :-D

After looking at the site this weekend, the column anchor points on the smaller footers, presumibly the launch/station are way too close for an invert.  JPIV probably has it right: Project2002 isn't inverted.

Even though this goes against all of the previous posts after looking at the construction site I am thinking it looks more like a Thrust Air.

If the new ride is an impulse like at sfwoa with only one tower wouldn't that require only one large footer. The construction site has two large footers right next to each other, almost as if there is going to be a down tower as well. Each footer looks to be approxmately the same size.

In addition there is what appears to be a round fitting that will be set into the cement. If you look at Power Tower and the currently operational Thrust Air 2000 each tower has a round pipe running through the tower. This could be a fitting that the pipe will attach to.

Rooster I'd refer you to this link that somoeone posted on page 28 of this thread http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery747.htm?Picture=7
If you notice the supports form an upside down v thus needing 2 sets of footers one for the straight section of the support and one forthe angled section.
Well, in that banner, it says "watch this space for 02'"....I think the announcement is in a couple of days......
well any brainless one knows that cp is getting an impulse. but the banner at cedarpoint.com hints at new fun..........i'm guessing that saying just an impulse is an understatement. How about around the base of the mf drop or on mf island?

:):)again just a half brained guess by me :):)

It's been said to have 450 degrees of rotation and people say that that isn't enough to increase the height very much.  Well, if this breaks the speed record, then maybe you have a higher climb up the tower vetically before you start your rotation...
Anyone wanna guess what park got rid of the lion and got snoopy? and some new text? i'll give ya one guess. here i'll give you a hint  www.miadventure.com

looks like no more lion ( o darn )

You sure about that... looks a whole lot like this to me.

Over on Coasterbuzz, Jeff just posted this message:

"Oh ye of little faith...
Come on guys, does anyone actually not think it's an Impulse at this point? After they announce it (not this week), will anyone start to trust me? Is this site known for posting rumors as news? I don't think so.

I know all kinds of people will cry about this ride, but let's put some things in perspective here. Can anyone really build a ride the magnitude of Millennium Force every year? Does it not make sense to balance the collection with things for people of all interests and ages? Do you think this revised Impulse is likely to be the only thing they're building? "

Jeff, does that last line hint that there is potentially another coaster coming to CP in 2002 or were you just saying that they will build other things in future years?/P>

I don't think it necessarily means another coaster, just something else.  While two for 2002 would be incredible, he's probably talking about flat rides or maybe even the rumoured sit-down restaurant on the site of Dodgem II (which would be incredible in its own right).

There are so many rumors to keep track of and the only thing that's a certainty at this point is the impulse IMO.

I dunno, I am thinking that maybe CP is on a mission for Jeff to try to steer us in the wrong direction, so the announcement is a surprise. Just a guess Jeff :)

If it turned out to not be an impulse, it would be the best kept secret ever.  It's not like Jeff is just telling everyone that it will be an impulse, he is showing us that the work that is already there makes it pretty obvious that it will be an impulse.  If it's not an impulse, I would be the first to congratulate CP and Jeff for tricking us.  But there's just too much proof that that's not gonna be the case.

VertiGo flights: 4
MF: 30

If you read just a leeetle too much into the banner at http://www.cedarpoint.com you'll realize the style of the banner is a HUGE clue in itself.  Its whimsical rhyming nature reveals the way it shall be themed...

CP management was split down the middle between The Cat in the Hat Loses his Freekin' Mind and The Berenstain Bears' Revenge according to my sources.

Wooohooo So far it looks as if I was right on guessing the coaster over 3 months ago.  Is it too soon to pat myself on the back yet?  LOL  And the info I got was from just a seasonal employee..what were the chance of that happening?

If it is an impulse. How is it going to be a newer version of a existing ride?
