New home for Terror Island

I think a good spot for terror island would be inside of meanstreaks courtyard.

The problem with that would be the entrance/exit would funnel through Mean Streak's entrance. I can't really see of a place where they could exit it without it going somewhere where it's employees only. And to make it big enough for the zone, the part of the line where the old DJ booth was would need to be taken out. Terror Island's path was fairly, about same length as the Bayou's and having that weave through out the infield would result in some taking out of the line. Unless the zone is shortened.

I can't believe I'm saying this, as (a) I enjoy family rides with my kids and (b) I always get very, very angry when the park closes any rides to lower the ride count or my perceived "family value." (I detest closing the Iron Dragon area early for the former light show.)

But, I was thinking last night...

I wonder if the Antique Cars area in Frontiertown could be converted into a walk-through for Terror Island. It's an "enclosed" area (i.e. the park could make an entrance and an exit, but not allow other admission thru the fences), it's paved with a winding path (although the park would have to remove the center rails that keep the cars on the road), and there would be plenty of places to put props and scenery.

In fact, it is an "island" in a sense. If they spent some money on the props and decorations, it could even be a pirate-themed daytime walkthrough for families (think trick-or-treat, or "pictures by pirate ships"), with Terror Island coming out at night. I'm not sure if it would become a traffic bottleneck (since Terror Island had a fairly "off-the-beaten path" entrance), but it might be workable.

Of course, count me on the list of folks that think Terror Island belongs on, and should stay on, the island. The lights don't have to be on the dinosaurs, and it's not like you can easily get off the path. But CP probably wants to keep their perceived new cash cow open during the daytime on Halloweekends, so I suppose that's a lost cause.

I'd guess that Terror Island would be pushed to the Thunder Canyon area, and then CornStalkers relocated elsewhere (or eliminated in favor of a brand new themed scare zone). It'd seem to be much easier to make cornstalk paths in a wide open area like the center of Mean Streak than putting Terror Island there.

I think removing the rails on the Antique Cars would be too much work for them but that is a good idea but I feel the back of the park already has enough Haunt attractions.

Yeah you have to think that would be a lot of rails removed for a zone and then have to be put back in. I still think that a Midway somewhere in the park will be the new home for Terror Island.

I certainly do love that idea though. The antique cars do cover a lot of ground and have a fairly nice location to work with. Not sure how much work removing those rails would be though, so I could see that being a possible deal breaker.

Hasn't MS been closed during Halloweekends in recent years?

This is exactly what Dorney did with their car ride. They used the path for a walk-through during Halloween Haunt.

Means Streaks infield could be used since the ride has been closed for that time. The exit could be placed at the northeast side of the infield where there is an track access point to get to the infield. As for it being employees only, I dont think that will matter much considered all of Blood on the Bayou had that status before this season. With that being said, I like the idea of using the antique cars idea but why not move it to one of the paths upfront such as the turnpike cars?....unless theyll be other types of construction going on there :)

Cornstalks could go through the Auntie Car Ride there, and just put the Cornstalks on the lines for Nobody could not trip on the lines. Then Terror Island could go there.

Mean Streak has only been closed for the last 2 Halloweekends because it was getting a larger than normal amount of work done to it. I'm not sure they'd want people walking around the ride while work was going on. Secondly, I doubt they will be doing this extensive amount of work every year. The areas they appeared to be working on last Fall appeared to be (IMHO) the only rough spots left on the ride. It wouldn't surprise me if it was running this Halloweekends.

I don't think that they start any heavy work on mean streak until the season is actually over with.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

They had half of the first turn, the valley of the first turn(the roughest part of the ride), and most of the second urn torn up by the time weekends ended. And as of right now Mean Streak is suppose to be open all season.

I just ask that they make the path slightly bigger and easier to see. I cant tell you how many times i fell over a fog machine in that place, but its always a good laugh when i walk straight into one of the boxes or i when fall.

It would take quite a bit of work, but there are a few "backstage" type areas they could potentially use for zones.

I still love the idea of using the Antique Car path for a zone. It's good to hear they've done it at Dorney. That tells me that removing the rails probably isn't a deal breaker for putting a zone there.

I think I typed about the Area through the A. Cars for a Scare Zone. All they could do is the Characters on one side with Cornstalks, and the people will be on the other side. I just thick that would be easier to do. I also that would make the CORNSTALKS Scare Zone. Then take they area for Terror Island in the Thunder Canyon.

I don't think it would be neccessary to take off the rail. Just keep people to one side and put a fence or something up over the rail so people can't cross.

Let's Get Weird.

That would be too small and would end up being more of a haunted house.

What Knotts does in this situation (they have several Haunt attractions built over the RR tracks of the Grand Sierra RR) is they have built low platforms that straddle the tracks. Not that big a deal, just a lot of plywood and 2x4's.

I actually think the turnpike cars would be a better location for a scare zone. It just seems like a better area IMO. Unless that rumored B&M goes there... Then my idea is basically shot down.
