I just don't see it going into the maverick area. Thats a very open plot of land which would make it difficult to make and effective haunt.
Looking at bing maps birds eye it looks like there is a section of space perfect for a haunt between MF and Frontier Trail and you can add in the over bank section where that picture could have been taken at.

That picture certainly looks like Dragster to me, but there is one place on Maverick where the shadow would fit. That is by the airtime hill right by the train tracks where the caboose is.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
That really looks to be a shadow cast by triangular track so I doubt it's Dragster. I think it's the shadow casting. Here's my guess.

That's the same general area I was thinking as well...the ground and track seemed awfully Mavericky to me.
That was my thinking as well Adam. The shadow looks like triangular track, which would pretty much mean Maverick. Add in the fact that the tree shadows appear to be pine trees, given that they aren't bare this time of year, and that makes the Maverick area even more likely. Looking at the bird's eye map, there don't appear to be any pine trees like that around Millennium's overbank.

CPGMJohn: Bob Miller and John Taylor were out marking the path of the "new" Terror Island. Any idea where they were walking?
hmmm Bob Miller is my uncle. I rarely ever talk to him but I shall find out!
One of the best parts of Terror Island was the way that area held the fog, with this now possibly being right on the water, there goes that effect. There were times i could not even see my hand in front of my face. That "was" the best Haunt in the park! Thanks Dinosaurs!

It wasn't so much the water that held the fog in, it was more of the natural barrier that the trees made with the path winding through. CarnEvil's old location had ares in it where the fog would just stick and that was because of the Extreme Stadium and trees in the planters that held it down.
In the Bayou we generally had much thicker fog away from the water then what you would see when the water was 2 feet off the path. It also comes down to how high the foggers are turned on and how many are in a given area. I'm sure wherever the zone is relocated to it will still have great fog in it.
11 years.
That would require Antique Cars to either be closed early, or completely through the season if a new path had to be constructed.
That being said, I'm a little iffy on how a Maverick infield haunt will work but it'll be interesting none the less. Also I just thought of something else. With it going in the Maverick infield, wouldn't the name Terror Island seem a bit out of place now? I mean, it's not really on an "Island" anymore.
I'm thinking some Cowboys vs Pirates would be delightfully ridiculous. :)

Actually there's plenty of room back there behind the old carousel building and by Thunder Canyon, even a few vehicle access roads. I am curious about how they are going to do the entrance and exit though, not too many places where it runs right up to the midway.
And with the amount of rock work, both from Maverick and Thunder Canyon, I think it will look sweet! Though I agree the name doesn't fit as well, it doesn't really matter. People will just see Island in the name and think, "That's cool" then forget about it. Suspension of belief is a large part of Haunted Attractions.

Cut Throat Island at Dorney was on the middle of a midway and they still used the island name.
Given that the picture posted to Twitter clearly showed a shadow of an Intamin track, it won't be in the Antique Cars area.

How can it be a better island feel then when you had to walk over a bridge onto an island?
11 years.
Maybe they'll build a little moat and put a bridge over it for the entrance, so it feels like you're going on an island....
It's too bad Mean Streak's Infield is full of roller coaster parts or trains because that would be an ideal location as well. Have the path inter wind with Maverick and Mean Streak and you have a good path going for a replacement for Terror Island.
That shadow, it looks like it's under Maverick :) This will be a really neat area for terror (insert name here) i think.
I would call it "Tortuga" for the new name. A lot of the scenes from pirates of the caribbean were kinda "old west" like.
Yep it's Maverick. The shadow from the picture even matches :)
