@TonyClarkCP @JasonMcClureCP All these new coaster announcements today sure hope @cedarpoint is saving the best for last! #CP2015

Well if CP really is saving the best announcement for the last, what the heck could it be??

On-ride concessions. Free pretzels for the ride up the lift hill.

Yea I definitely agree...Cedar Point needs to step it up. Six Flags Magic Mountain and Six Flags in general seems to be building some innovative coasters. I hope Cedar Fair wakes up and stops doing all these general and some what boring B&M's and brings RMC hybrids, S&S 4D's and Intamin out into the spotlight.

You're saying that like the new B&Ms are bad. Most of them are pretty well-regarded. The hypers are all pretty good, the wing rider is different, and, most importantly, they're relatively reliable. B&Ms just don't have many issues. How many problems did X have when it opened? That being said, CP likes to get stuff that's proven. TTD was the first of its kind and it had its share of issues. There's probably a reason why the number of 4Ds is small and all but two are ZacSpins or the S&S version of one. As we all know, when CP does a coaster, it tends to be pretty remarkable and overdone. They're probably planning one of these newer variations that will be much taller and faster with more inversions as we speak.

this is really wild but what if RMC did come in and did mean streak but it would be so big that they would announce it this year and then it would open in 2016 as a brand new RMC. VERY unlikely but possible. just a idea probably not going to happen but who knows they thought that colossus was going to take 2 years and be so massive and huge and super long and have 4 inversions and be one train and have 2 lifts well it's not but maybe this is RMC next big project. maybe this does not happen for a couple of years but it is probably on cedar point's todo list. if it is 2015 who knows. but something will definitely happen to it in the near future. as for mantis it will probably became floorless in the next couple years. a announcement for all of this will happen sometime this fall.

So that's a no on the on-ride concessions and no free pretzels for the ascent? Well this is kind of a let down.

It would actually be funny to watch as a physics demonstration someone holding a regular open cup of pop going over TTD or Corkscrew. Nice slow mo action. (We all know what would happen, but still: cool)

remember: no matter where you go... there you are.

Well, Cedar Fair is not saving the best for last, they're saving their best for last.

Last edited by noggin,

When Elitch Garden's announced last year that their new BIG thrill ride turned out to be a looper. It was a huge let down. This ride has been around forever and is an OK carnival ride at best. Now Six flags are putting in four of them. They must be on sale? The big coasters six flags are doing look great! I just hope Cedar Point's BIG announcement isn't a Lame Looper!

It may have been a huge let down to you and to other entitled enthusiasts. To those of the general public who care, those Fireballs may actually be exciting.

And why can't Cedar Point's "BIG" announcement be a looper, lame or otherwise? Cedar Fair isn't in business to make coaster enthusiasts on a website happy, Cedar Fair is in business to make a lot of people happy. If it turns out Cedar Fair thinks a Fireball will make all those people happy, fine. If you don't like it, don't go to the park.

Your definition of "best announcement" and CF management's definition of "best announcement" may not be the same...

SFMM's Twisted Colossus looks sweet...

Assuming they'll actually run it as such, it will be the only racing coaster with inversions. Cedar Point is lagging behind. I don't like it.

Dueling dragons

SV ruins all other rides.

Six Flags is also running a pretty sweet sale on 2015 season passes for Labor Day. Comparable benefits to Cedar Fair's Platinum Passes at about a third of the price (with unlimited visits for the rest of 2014)? That'd pay for itself in one visit. Dining plans are cheaper too and they'll throw in a free drink bottle. Dang!

Maybe I should plan a family vacation to Texas next year. Haha.

Well, get used to it. CP has been lagging behind for a while now. In just the few years Ouimet has been at the helm he has transformed the park tremendously. Rides aren't the only thing that make a park great. CF's new CEO actually gets it and is diversifying his investments into other parks.

They stopped dueling in 2011 due to injuries from flying objects.

"Coaster enthusiasts on a website" aren't the only ones who ride coasters. You don't think the General Public knows the difference between a quality attraction/renovation and a makeshift carnival ride? What are CP's most popular attractions, again? The ones that are only ridden by a few enthusiasts? How would a "ring-of-fire" make "a lot of people happy"? Have you ever ridden one?

I really hope its something cool and unique, not a carnival ride like that new Joker attraction opeining up at one of the Six Flag parks. I kind of want something more like that new Justice League: Battle for Metropolis attraction. But of course, I would want it to have an original story/theme. I'm not saying it will or COULD even happen, just something I've always wanted to see be done.

Why do they call it common sense, when it's so infrequently used?
