^^ High Noon is a time when duels would be planned to take place in the Old West.
Or it could just mean as being precisely at noon haha.
Anybody else find the choice of date (Tuesday) to be interesting? It's the first non-operating day of the park. Wonder if that is significant?

To be exact, he said High Noon. It may just be me, but it sounds a little like something a pirate would say... Could be a small hint referring to the PR building.
High Noon is a phrase heard often in westerns, in fact there is a western movie by the name of High Noon
The ride in this video (lower right) would be pretty cool:

I see what you did there...
Thank you for correcting me. I was thinking high tide for some reason.
So if MS is redone, it won't really be mean anymore since the roughness makes it mean. So would they rename it Nice Streak? ;)

Not sure what will be coming. My guesses are:
-RMC treatment to Mean Streak
-Mantis refurb (floorless)
-Something going in the pirate ride location
I was guessing Mantis refurb, but everyone was telling me I was crazy. I hope it still happens in the future if It doesn't happen this year.
...a makeshift carnival ride?
Like the Tilt-a-Whirl and the Scrambler and the Matterhorn? Seems to me that "makeshift" carnival rides have a place in the park's line-up.
What are CP's most popular attractions, again?
In 2013, the top five were CP&LE Railroad (1.7 million rides), Millennium Force (1.6 mil), Raptor (1.5 mil), Magnum (1.4 mil), Sky Ride (1.4 mil) and Gemini (1.3 mil). (Numbers from the park via WKYC.) Rides that move people around the park and old roller coasters.
How would a "ring-of-fire" make "a lot of people happy"?
By giving them a ride they enjoy. Same reason they keep turning up at fairs and carnivals. They make people happy.
Have you ever ridden one?
Yep.
For what it's worth Canada's Wonderland is getting rid of their stand up coaster but it's older than Mantis.

As have half of the parks with a Togo stand up. Not particularly big news. Tons of their coasters have closed due to roughness.

Rode it at the beginning of the month, needless to say its just like the other TOGO standup's, great big POS. As for me, i don't want to speculate, just will sit here and watch all of the wild ideas get thrown around. And whatever they build, they feel its what will continue to bring people to the park.

If they announce it as a multi year type deal sure, but definitely not all for 2015.
Noggin, I am not saying this isn't a fun ride. It just shouldn't count as a major new "coaster", as it just was for six flags and Elitch. Per your other remarks, this announcement actually will have an impact as to whether I go to Cedar Point. Not because I don't love the place, I DO. For me and a few friends a trip to CP involves a plane ride and a few nights/days at the park. If they throw down something serious then we are coming this summer for sure. If not it just means we will wait a year or 2. If I lived in Ohio or driving distance I would go several time a summer regardless.
Rides in the top 5:

What do you have so much trouble understanding?

Ring-of-fire rides are popular at CARNIVALS because they are inexpensive and easy to assemble. That's the whole premise of a CARNIVAL. CP adds all types of rides, including small flats (as they should), but they are a high quality park that doesn't emphasize small carnival rides as much as their star attractions. You've even ridden one (even though you are a "coaster enthusiast on a website"--I thought you were excluding us, remember?), so you probably know exactly what I mean. I've ridden one also and I definitely can't picture it in Cedar Fair's spotlight.
Also, Tilt-a-Whirl, Scrambler and Matterhorn are not "makeshift" rides. The word makeshift means "serving as a temporary substitute; sufficient for the time being." Those rides have seen more than a few opening days.
Six Flags probably got a package deal for the ring of fire, throw some theming on it, and mass release it to the parks that aren't getting anything major this year (I.e. Windseeker).

Just like Tilt-a-Whirls and Scramblers and Matterhorns. And yet Cedar Point and other amusement parks across the country include these and other flat rides in their line-ups.
If Cedar Fair ever decides to add one of these fancied up Ring of Fires rides to one of their parks, I likely won't ever ride it, but I have no problem with it being there.
So here is an idea, Tony said "at high noon" this could be absolutely nothing, but what if the whole thing with the Pirate Ride area won't come until 2016? What if the new ride will take the place of Snake River Falls? I mean, I like the ride and all, but I could see it coming down in the next couple of years. But overall, I think out of all the areas in the park that needs updating the most is the entire Blue Streak Patio/Kiddy Kingdom Area. I can still see Mantis change to Rougarou and Mean Streak to King James though.
