New for 2015

And I think CP's transformation will continue in 2015 with something very impressive. Just don't expect a huge roller coaster. The biggest transformation of course is Hotel Breakers. Whatever else will be new, you have to add that to the Breakers rehab. CP will probably get around 70-75 million dollars in improvements. And some of you are actually thinking CP is being neglected because Fury 325 is bigger than CP's new ride? Reality check please.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Clearly Cedar Point is being neglected. I mean, they were not just one-upped but fifteen-upped! Millie is only 310'. How will we ever get enjoyment from it again? :(

All I have to say is, if being fact checking/logical is bad, and being someone who dabbles in the crazy speculation is bad.....where is the middle ground? Like others have said, speculation is one thing, but wild speculation with no factual base is another. Don't blow the "someone peed in my cereal" horn every time your guess or idea (or someone else's) is challenged. No one on here is calling you or anyone stupid.

Moving on, there isn't going to be a coaster next year. ;)

I think that this stopped being a thread about what actually is coming in 2015 about 81 pages ago. :) It sounds like we are all equally in the dark here for the time being.

With a lack of solid information it leaves the conversation open to speculation. Not every idea that lands in this forum is going to meet everyone's criteria of plausibility. If you see a comment that sounds wild and crazy and you have some insight to offer the poster then there's certainly no harm in sharing your view. That's why we are all here. But not every idea needs to be called out on the carpet either. It's up to the original poster to convince the readers that their idea has merit. Sometimes I see posts that I can tell are just wishful thinking and are intended as such. They are purely for fun, and without a solid logical basis of support that's how most people probably interpret them.

I could not have said it better, myself. I don't usually do this, but I would definitely +1 your post. I (and most other PointBuzz users) realize when discussion turns into endless, improbable wishing, but there are so many of us who are speculating over things that are not credible either (Camp Rou, twitter misspellings, etc.) and pulling it off as "real" speculation.

Yes, I realize that there are posts about things that don't seem at all likely (and some that are, frankly, kind of ridiculous), but none of us have any real insight as to what will actually happen--so why talk down to people who are forming their opinions based on the same clues that we all have (which are scarce and nonspecific)? I don't see a sign that says "You must think inside the box this much to ride the PointBuzz."

We'll all know Cedar Point's exact plans sooner or later, so why get all worked up over it today?

At this point I wouldn't expect an announcement for 2015 until approximately a month from now. They are promoting dollar days for the upcoming Labor Day weekend, and after that is over, it will be less than 2 weeks until Halloweekends begins. It makes the most sense to wait until Halloweekends is going before talking about 2015.

Well lets talk about 2015 for a second then, I haven't thought about this for a while but just reading through the 2015 items from the PointBuzz homepage got me thinking. Of course this is where differences of opinion can come in as to what is just noise as opposed to a real hint but what the heck... here's what I've got.

We have the obvious one, it was announced by CP over the 4th of July weekend that the new thing in 2015 would be for thrill seekers and teens.

I think that the picture posted by Jason McClure about the sunrise over _____ is a hint at the location. I think something will be different if we were to take that same picture next year (other than the trees being bigger like I said in an earlier post).

The next item that I think pertains to 2015 is a lot of talk about pirates, using numerous r's in posts/tweets, Tony asking why he's talking like a pirate etc... This particular item re-inforces the picture I mentioned above as the old PR building is in that picture posted by Jason.

The same PR building shows up again in the Blog post where they took pictures for us. Of course, this could just be circumstantial, but in my mind at least the circumstantial evidence keeps leading to the PR building area.

The next clue is a tweet. Tony was asked for any type of vague hint at 2015 and he responded with "afraid of the dark". Now, this one could mean a new dark ride of course, or it could mean that the old dark ride PR building is going to be removed. Once again, something about the PR area comes up.

Based upon all of this inconsequential and circumstantial stuff... I think 2015 will be a Blue Streak Midway revamp similar to the Gemini midway project of last year. I think the PR building is going to be removed and a new flat installed in its place. This new flat is what is aimed at the teens/thrillseekers. No idea what type of flat though... I haven't speculated that far yet.

On top of this, Mantis is re-painted and re-named King James. Sorry though folks, nothing floorless here, just the same stand up trains we all know and love.

That Michael Jackson here for the comments meme would fit great right here..

What Pete mentioned is worth repeating. To a lot of people, the Breakers renovation is not being factored into improvements to the park because they either never stay there or it's not a ride of some kind. That said, what's being done to that hotel is nothing short of world-class in terms of a rehab. Unfortunately, though, it seems like it remains invisible to most people.

Promoter of fog.

Afraid of the dark...thrill ride...makes me think of Flight of Fear at Kings Island. Maybe instead of an Area 51 theme it could have something to do with ghost pirates? :) Wasn't there a picture of some lumber posted on Twitter as well?

Edit - after doing a little research I don't think the ghost pirate idea has any merit. I didn't realize CP used to have a pirate ride (sorry I thought "PR" meant something else.)

But Rougorou on the other hand...

Cedar Fair is dropping tens of millions of dollars on Breakers and the other hotels over the next several years. The company is making a long-term investment in its flagship park.

It's interesting how such a significant investment can be over-looked by some.

What I think will happen is that there's going to either be a dark ride or a new thrill ride by the blue streak midway. Maybe renovation but defiantly one of those types of rides. In my mind CP's going to add a good roller coaster in 2016-17ish because of this video:

http://youtu.be/geRHSsurWwA

(SKIP TO 26:15). And since the CP 150th anniversary in 2020 I imagine a roller coaster to come in that will change the face of roller coaster forever. Something that will make MF look like Jr. Gemini. Not kidding. Oh yeah and they get a kiddie/family coaster between 2016-2019 So they're 20th coaster can be the legendary one.

Yes I am serious about this. No joke.

Just my speculation for the major events
At CP for its next 5-6 years.

Defiantly 😆

2008 visits = 38, 2009 = 19, 2010 = 11, 2011 = 14, 2012 = 10, 2013 = 14, 2014 = 14, 2015= 13, 2016 = 11, 2017 = 5, 2018 = 3

You mean a 1000 ft S&S polercoaster? God, I hope not. Certainly isn't very original.

Here you go...
The shortened version from Wikipedia:
ROGAROU:
The stories of the creature known as a rougarou are as diverse as the spelling of its name...is a man who transforms into an animal.

Rougarou represents a variant pronunciation and spelling of the original French lou-garou.(..."Am I saying that or spelling that right?)...rougarou is a common legend across French Louisiana.

In the Cajun legends, the creature is said to prowl the SWAMPS (tweet picture) around Acadiana and Greater New Orleans, and possibly the fields or forests of the regions. The rougarou most often is described as a creature with a human body and the head of a wolf or dog, similar to the werewolf legend.(anyone afraid of the dark?)

...A common blood sucking legend says that the rougarou is under the spell for 101 days. After that time, the curse is transferred from person to person when the rougarou draws another human’s blood. During that day the creature returns to human form...

Other stories range from the rougarou being derived from witchcraft. In the latter claim, only a witch can make a rougarou—either by turning into a wolf herself, or by cursing others...

Hope that helps, you're welcome.

I wouldn't have put it so eloquently, but this is about as close to my thoughts as possible. Well, that and a small addition to the water park.

Everyone remember that when the announcement was made for the hotel improvement, the 60 million was not from the "new ride fund", it was from selling the water park. (I Forget which one). This is really important.
We are out of state guests that travel to CP and have had to stay in these hotels. They are not great currently. For the price of course. I am not one of the people that brings up price normally. Cedar point is an incredible value in the amusement park industry. But an upgrade in a room shouldn't be "oooh it has a mini fridge". Having said that we can't wait to come back and our booking a trip is waiting for the hotel and new coaster :) We are coming, but when?

The entire Breakers project really is something special and pretty darn historic in scope. I can't wait to see how it all plays out.

"Thank the Phoenicians!"

No, I don't mean a 1000ft poler coaster, maybe a re-alignment with intamin and a 400ft lift coaster kills Steel Dragon 200's length record and actually be a full circuit roller coaster, out and back.
