New for 2015

Has anyone else noticed that the main homepage for PointBuzz has changed and more clues have been semi hinted/revealed? There are words that are faint in the background of the new 2015 banner. Also, the numbers themselves contain faint pictures in the background. 2-Blue Streak Midway, 0-Point Pavilion,1-Mean Streak, 5-Mantis. Anyone else have suspicions that there will be four projects for 2015?

No.

Having said that, Fury 325 may also just be intended to have a brief moment in the spotlight and perhaps Centurion is headed to the point to solidify its stature. 2020 will mark Cedar Point's 150 year anniversary and that's bound to be a big year. They opened the MF in 2000, the Maverick in 2007, and Gatekeeper in 2013 so they seem to add a new gravity coaster every 6 to 7 years. The 150th anniversary of CP seems like perfect timing for the biggest, baddest, coaster in the world to make its debut.

Either way it's fun to speculate. :)

You also had wicked twister in 2002 and dragster in 2003. So that's 5 coasters in about 14 years.

The more posts I read in this topic the less interested I get. This thread, except for the occasional post, is no longer 2015 related. So in joy opinion one of two things needs to happen. Either A) a new thread for talking about Cedar Point's space and Carowind's, etc, or B) (the one I prefer) Tony and Cedar Point Release some major hint/clue to get us back on topic.

Not that I don't want to read all the posts about the other topics, because they are interesting. But when I come to the 2015 topic with a large amount of new posts I expect that Cedar Point released some info and after reading it hopefully I find out there is nothing. Just my 2 cents. on this topic.

Honestly, I wouldn't doubt it. I don't see anything huge coming, just small upgrades to Mantis, A MS name change (KJ), a new Raptor entrance/tearing down PR, and an unknown thrill ride where Point Pavilion is. Just my thoughts of the possibilties I can see happening.

This is off topic but has anyone every imagined someday gatekeepers flyover being the middle of the park. Obviously this wouldn't happen anytime soon but I guess I just saw it in a dream.

Are you suggesting that they would move parking off the peninsula? I used to think that that would be a good idea before I realized how difficult it would be to use trams to move people from the parking lot off site to the park on the peninsula. I suppose that they could use a monorail or a chairlift, but I think that there is plenty of room in the park for future developments. Still, Gatekeeper in the middle of the park sounds pretty sweet to me.

Loving Maverick since 2007!

Well if they torn out the entire parking lot and reloated it off site. Then they would have to have a larger shuttle/bus syste to transport people onto the peninsula. Maybe in the future. Future as in 2050. You never know.;)

Phillies2, yes, I definitely have. In the very distant future, I can definitely see expansion into the parking lot. But clearly that isn't in the plans any time soon, or else they wouldn't have revamped the entrance plaza and added Gatekeeper.

I don't really know about parking, never really thought about, but there's been ideas before and probaley still some to be had. Ex parking garage structure. In my dream I reached gatekeeper and just said to my self, wow we finally made it to the middle of the park

Okay. Guess I'm the only one who thought what I stated earlier.

Anyway, I believes stated that idea before on this site and think in the distant it is likely. But with the Gatekeeper being just installed I think we are far out. However one thing they could do to leave the entrance where it is and still use this idea is to make a road up the center of the park so to speak where the busses drop off in the middle but it's not in the park. You still have to pay and enter through the main entrance and there are ways in the "new" front of park to cross over the road going up the center. But it's just a theory.

In the bottom corner of the point buzz banner you can see part of the word rougarou and this was one of the new ride names introduced by cedar fairs

^don't read too much from that banner. It's just a few words from this thread and others regarding the mystery of 2015 project(s). Just a graphic for Pointbuzz, not anything official from the park.

I was thinking lets say they take down mean streak this year and put up a new coaster. What would be the next ride for Cedar Point to remove in the future? My guess would have been Mantis since its losing its popularity but if they make it floor less I think it will be up for a while. Also the park doesn't have much room to expand unless they take beach space away.

What's with this obsession over floorless coasters? Take a standard ride, remove the floor, and there you go. Not worth getting rid of a stand-up, which are a dwindling breed.

And I doubt Mean Streak is going anywhere. If anything, they'd bring in Rocky Mountain to pull a Texas Giant. Take away a little bit of beach space and build a boardwalk. Rebuild the Crystal Beach Cyclone or something and the park would be a destination. They could be pretty imaginative if there's nothing worth taking out.

That's a key aspect of this park - the beach. What is considered a negative aspect for expansion purposes is also what sets this park apart from many others.
