The Amish can build a house in a day because they bring upwards of 100 men to get the job done. The point is construction timeline comparison isn't fair. It all has to do with many factors- the biggest of which is manpower. If you want to pay for the workforce and multiple cranes, etc. you could probably put any ride up rather quickly.

Using the same format you used to calculate NTG construction time gives gatekeepers construction time around 9-10 months. You cannot pick and choose how you calculate construction time. For your arguments to have any validity you must use the same formate when calculating construction time.
Disaster transport closed 7-29-12
Gatekeeper opened 5-11-13
Your estimate would have been off by 16%
Total Gatekeeper construction time 286 days or 9 1/2 months.
How does it make any sense to use a different type of construction by a different company to estimate Gatekeepers construction time? It's like you're just trying to find a way to prove DJ wrong and your head keeps dipping below the surface. It might be best to just grab Adam's life ring now and walk away.

2009. Dick Kinzel brought us Starlight Experience.
That counts as something.

Has there ever been a year when there was NOTHING new? And by that I mean, no attraction, no building renovation, no new food stand or anything.
Good question. Yeah,2009 was pretty uneventful BUT did warrant the park issuing a new souvenir map highlighting Starlight Experience on the Frontier Trail. Even worse was 1973 and 1984, sheesh, very uninteresting stuff, park didn't even put out new souvenir maps then, not enough added to warrant any changes on those gift shop maps. Hope that helps.

If there's one thing that does surprise me so far, it's that we haven't even been given a date as to when we will find anything out.I'm actually getting a little disinterested in the whole thing.
I'm starting to feel the same way. They are keeping too hush hush about the project this year. It's cool that they give us some fake clues to throw us off every once in a while but I honestly don't think a single "clue" has been an actual clue as to what we're getting.
I have no idea what is happening this year or where it will be located. Maybe the park likes that, but it doesn't make it as fun to speculate. Also, most parks have either announced their attractions or have set a date to announce it.
Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!
I'm kind of with you, Kevin. By kind of, I mean I'm into CP and 2015, no matter what happens but this thread has really took a dive. Not that it's been above water at any point. Tony, you've had your fun with us long enough...get on with it ;)

The park is being exactly hush hush as it has planned to be. They'll announce when they announce, on whatever the timetable is the staff members involved developed.
CP doesn't have to give any hints, or clues to anyone. Anything that they do throw out to us should be viewed as little bonus from the park to their fans. Generating any type of buzz with the enthusiast community prior to the announcement will have no effect on the parks revenues for next year.
I would be willing to bet that they have indeed given us much more than we currently know. After they announce next years attraction some of these tweets and pictures may make more sense. Of course I would also bet that the majority of them are meaningless other than to throw us off track.
Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't TTDs announcement not until after the park closed? And I'm pretty sure they kept hush hush about it too and there were really no clues about what it was. People just slowly watched the tower go up.

Dead Sexeh, just what are you trying to gain from pointing out how wrong DJ is according to your logic? He's admitted his logic as pure guesstimation......please move on.

There are plenty of arguments you can make that it will not happen, but making up timelines and using them as a reason why it can't be done is just plain stupid. We get it. Now follow Adam's sage advice:

I was ready to move, but it looks like the rest of the forum can't. Also it looks like you didn't understand the point of the Gatekeeper example. It is there to show that date closed to date open is not the time of construction. That means the information he used to guess at the construction time for Mean Streak is incorrect, thus disproving his whole argument that the project couldn't be completed in time

Edited this because on second thought it just isn't worth it... :)
Tell me about it...
You can't entirely disprove an imaginary scenario. If you could, conspiracy theorists wouldn't exist. You can poke a whole lot of holes in badly presented logic when it is offered as declarative fact though. This was a very demonstrative thread about what people think they know though.
Also, I'd hope to god that Cedar Point learned from the Starlight Experience. I kinda sense they have. Worst case scenario: Breakers will actually look kinda nice! Rejoice!
No, I got it. You grabbed some arbitrary dates from an unrelated construction project and used them to project some possible value onto DJ's admitted guesstimation in order to fulfill some Freudian need to prove him wrong.

CP will open early May of 2015. We will then know for sure what's new, until then does it really matter?
It's all just good fun.
