I remember listening to Tony in a radio interview a few months back regarding the 2015 plans, and he said when he was told/shown what was coming in 2015 he had to ask three times "Are you serious?"
I think Tony was talking about the 5 year plan in that interview, not 2015 alone.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
I've kept pretty quiet on this thread, but here is my $0.02 worth.
I think Cedar Fair's days of pushing the outer limits of coaster experiences are over. As much as I want to see a 500 - 700 foot monster in the park, I think it pretty much ended with Dragster.
CP started the "Coaster Wars" and they're the first to leave them.
Look at what they've done since... It's all very "sensible" investments.
Maverick is awesome. It has some unique ideas but it's not pushing the limits of height and speed.
Gatekeeper is a nice ride, but again... Nothing truly groundbreaking.
Between that we've had the dinosaurs, windseeker, pipescream, lake erie eagles, and many more similar things. Even though STR has been a nightmare, on paper it's a sensible purchase.
If we look at Kings Island it's definitely more of the same. Diamondback and Banshee are great rides, but they're small iterations on tried and true concepts. Nothing too crazy or left field. Nothing like Magnum, Millennium, and Dragster were in their days.
I really think that Dragster has given the CF brass so much hell that they're gun shy on ever going big again. 10 years later it still breaks down more than any other ride I've ever seen.
Given the lack of any substantial rumors re: the park's 2015 addition (meaningless marketing Tweets excluded), much less any tangible evidence of demolition and / or construction, I have a hard time believing today's announcement will reveal anything overly incredible.
I feel like a large addition would have been at least partly uncovered by now. When was the last time a major new ride was kept a total secret right up until being announced? I can't think of any recent Cedar Fair examples... Usually there would be some significant clues by now.
And given how Six Flags referred to the RMC technology as "exclusive" to Six Flags in their recent announcement, I have a hard time believing we'll see a Mean Streak transformation this year. (Besides the fact that CF has shown no interest in the company, RMC has quite a bit on their plates this year, anyways.)
I suppose some kind of Mantis transformation is possible (though, it would have to be a significant, marketable transformation in order for the investment of new trains [at the very least] to be worth it, and I'm not sure all that much can be done with the ride).
Nevertheless, my bet is on a thrilling flat ride of some sort. A flat ride would be small enough to explain how we haven't seen much rumored or actual progress toward a new ride while also thrilling enough to fit McClure's "next year's ride will be targeted toward thrill seekers" comment.
Or maybe 2015 will bring some kind of non-traditional attraction (such as a water park addition) that we were least expecting!
Thrills Around the Corner!
Well, my school day lasts from 7:00–2:15…hopefully I'll be able to check out what's new before I get home.

Yes, because it makes sense that the park would hire surveyors to come out and mark utilities simply to confuse folks.

Absolutely not my creation (SteveWoA from coasterbuzz), but the best prediction of the announcement yet.http://vid258.photobucket.com/albums/hh280/invertalon/CP2015_zps1b712764.mp4

That video was inspired by recent rumors... Supposedly, some are going around that challenge park at CP will be closed/relocated for next season with a waterpark expansion coming for Soak City as part of the 2015 announcement.
It is likely far from the truth, who knows. I am excited to see though what really is going on for 2015 though!
I still have my fingers crossed for a GCI, no matter how unlikely.

This logical and common sense information has no place in this thread;)
I've seen this prediction before and it's nothing new but I concur and I'm gonna guess that they'll upgrade and remodel the pavilion area and the new ride will be over by the Blue Streak, possibly take out the old pirate ride building, and that will be the location of the new flat ride. I'm not sure if Mantis will be redone to a floorless or not, but they're doing something to that ride weather it's just a repaint and a name change. Just to many hints and clues to be ignored. They're not just going to put test paint on it to fool a small group of people like us who actually pay this much attention to it. I would be very shocked if nothing at all is happening to it.
Top 5: (1) Superman the Ride (2) Millennium Force (3) Maverick (4) Leviathan (5) Diamondback

But you don't have to hire surveyors to grab a can of spray paint and put some random lines on the ground.

It wasn't random paint... They were marking the location of underground utilities with sizes, type, and depths. The paths matched up with meter and disconnect locations as well. There was also what appeared to be recent underground utility repair in that area. To say that Cedar Point would incur costs such as this just to mess with people online is ridiculous.
What about something like the biggest Soak City expansion in it's history kinda thing? Some others have alluded to this but a ride geared toward thrill-seekers could be destined for the water park. Also water park rides don't take nearly as long to construct really as a roller coaster which is why we may not have any real sign of construction yet.

That tweet to me sounds like something's coming down...Mean Streak or Mantis or Both could be seeing the wrecking ball very soon.

He simply re-tweeted something HonestTea tweeted this morning. Could it mean something? Sure. Could he have just liked the quote and decided to share it? Sure
Could it mean something about the five year plan? Sure
Do we know concrete answers to the above? Not a chance.
2 hrs and 42 mins, we will know what we'll be riding next year.

I am just as stumped as many of you. I don't believe a roller coaster is coming, but a refurb of an existing ride sounds possible.
While I can certainly see a flat ride coming to the park, I don't understand why the park would market this as "a major announcement". A basic flat ride does not sound "major" to me. Newsworthy, yes. Major makes me thing of something that is $10 million or more. Just an opinion.
