Yeah I think this ride will disturb the atmosphere of FT. CP should have put this somewhere else. Maybe near Gemini or CCMR. Not near the front because of maXair and Ocean Motion.
How much closer do you want it to CCMR? The exit ramp from CCMR goes right into the construction site.

Yeah I think this ride will disturb the atmosphere of FT.
Well, you'll barely be able to hear the "whoosh" once that 500 footer is built for '07. ;)
I'm more worried about the sight aspect of the ride fitting in, as opposed to the sound. It's an amusement park, so I think that most people are able to filter the noises out somewhat. But the visual aspect could create a non-uniform look to the area, which would be harder to "filter" out, IMO.

Don’t forget that there are ways to filter out loud noises. Like how (just from the top of my head) Stealth's supports were filled with sand to quiet the ride as by requests from civilians. Though I’m not entirely sure what could be done to reduce the noise from SkyHawks pneumatics.

That is of course if CP wants to keep FT's atmosphere the way it is....or at least as close to it as they can, which I have a feeling they do.

The ride's placement is far away from the rest of FT. How many of you even sat down in that area other than riding CCMR, SRF, or going into the Town Hall?
When I stayed at Lighthouse Point in the past, I was amazed at how well you could here TTD. At times, you could here screams from the riders. Walking down the midway, I can always seem to hear the sound effects of TTD launching. My ears are always listening for to though.
Anybody else hear the sound effects while walking by the ride when it is closed? I swear I'm not crazy. :)

That general area is actually pretty noisy with CCMR, the 'Tiques, and the fact that it tends to be the meeting place in Frontier Town, so I don't think a little bit more noise is going to ruin the atmosphere as long as it isn't PT loud.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
The Antique Cars are very quiet to me, I don't even notice them that much. How can you say thats noisy? Cedar Creek Mine Ride only makes noise when it goes up it's first 50'ft tall hill and then it's 25 foot hill at the end. The only ride that makes a lot of noise in Frontiertown is Mean Streak, and you don't even hear it that much until you walk by White Water Landings former spot.

I hear the sound effects in my sleep.....I guess that makes me the crazy one.;)
"Arms down head back and hold on!".........Did anybody else hear that?!!:)

Nope. And neither did any of the people on that - *whoooooosh* - train...oh wait. :)

After reading through this entire topic, I still wonder one thing. What is the problem with Skyhawk? Sure it swings back and forth like maXair, but are the two considered similar for that reason. I mean, if you actually think about it, OTSR and a single lap bar would change the thrill itself. If someone has experienced on before, could you please let me know of the experience.
As for the one spinning and one not spinning, I totally agree. My brother won't go on maXair because it spins, now he has a new attraction to look forward to.
Also, all of you who say you don't want to go to CP just because your not getting a coaster, that is just silly. Why do you go to CP, to have a good time with you family and friends and experience some of the worlds greatest rides. Yes I too was a little disappointed not having a new coaster, but I look forward to riding Skyhawk in 06'.
Good post CPRocks420, and by the way welcome to Pointbuzz. You'll enjoy posting with us. Anyway I think for Skyhawk with it being just a lapbar, it should be totall different from MaXair. My thinking is since Skyhawk has a labpar, that will provide a lot of good airtime. I totally agree with your post too. You know what, I prefer to see a coaster come like every 3 or 4 years anyway. Ever Since Cedar Point brought us Millennium Force, I've been going like 7-9 times a season. MaXair was awesome this year along with the new games that were refurbished. That area of the park just looks fantastic. I look forward to riding Skyhawk in 2006.
Yes I agree, SkyHawks lapbar will really be a highlight of the ride. It'll be like how we are lucky enough to ride Dragster with T-bars while Kingda Ka riders have to put up with OTSR's.:)

I just didn't want to admit it. :)
2006 looks like it'll be a good year. We might have another Area 51 on our hands too.

Skyhawk is going to rock. I've been saying all along its totally different than maXair since I've actually ridden the swing at Dorney Park. Sure, its a much smaller scale there, but its the same concept. I loved it enough to pay to ride the Dorney one twice. That's how much fun it is.
I'm guessing we'll see some type of construction wall up around the WWL site too. Otherwise, they wouldn't have started to tear it down as soon as the park closed.

That's what we call site prep. Or as Gomez put it, another "Area 51". ;)

I have a question. If you look at the webcam there is masonry blocks by the frontiertown lift station? Why would they need to be laying block for this project? It's not like they're building a house in there.
I thought that those were the lockers being put back underneath the canopy. But after a second closer look, they do look like Cinder (Sp?) Blocks. Maybe they will use those for the operation booth, or Hydralic (Sp?) Building. But that is just my best guess, which is more than often wrong.
