New for 2006 - Skyhawk

I have a random question? Does anyone know where the Webcam is actually positioned? Is it sitting on a tree somewhere, is it on the TownHall Building?

According to Walt's Contruction Update it is on Scaffolding on the porch type thing of the Town Hall Museum. But what I wonder is if the camera will be on the scaffolding for all of next season?

Here is the photo of the camera:

Like sctmn31 said, the webcam is located on some scaffolding that they have rigged up in front of the Town Hall. However, it's completely ridiculous to think that they will keep it there for any amount of time next season. I would think that they will probably move it to the Frontier Lift building, possibly the SRF platform building.

Tony & Tyler responded to a comment about the sound of Skyhawk (You will remember that we talked about it here first. However I forget if we ever came to some conclusion) Anyways, the part I'm talking about is:

"The air being released can actually be muffled, channeled to a big whistle of some sort, sent to a pond where it will bubble up from underwater - the possibilities are endless. We are unsure as to what the end result will be."

Now, I think I remember reading someone suggesting this here, and people branded it as totally insane, however, like T&T said...the possibilities are endless, so I guess we'll find out on May 6th if we see little bubbles coming up over by Millennium Island... *** Edited 11/14/2005 10:26:10 PM UTC by IWantBansheeBack***

Last public train of 2005 on MF!

I doubt they would be little bubbles... :) I would think there's a ton of air being pumped in and out of that.

Or a big whistle......which is kind of defeating the purpose of a "muffler". :)

A whistle sounds interesting though.

It's not like FT is completly silent. CP & LE Railroad makes noise, SRF makes a huge WHOOSH sound when it hits the water, and Antique Cars are very loud. Man...I miss it already. :(

The off season is young my friend. I've been on ebay buying a bunch of old Cedar Point postcards dating back to 1910 to speed along the process and to build my collection.

1910? Wow I bet the park had a lot of trees then. I'm sure during that year we didn't even have a main midway like we do today. You'll have to share these postcards sometime. I wonder how many Rides we had total that year.

It would be neat to have the air released into the water. It would create an interesting sight/sound. Kind of like an anaconda fart. ;)

djDaemon, I'd be curious to know how you know what an anaconda's fart sounds like...

We have an update today from Tony and Tyler today! They have answered a couple questions we've been asking and ones that are coming soon. Here is one that I saved that Tony And Tyler posted.

Is MaXair and SkyHawk Similar?
It is in one way, and one way only. There’s a story behind that too. You’ll learn a lot more about why Skyhawk was chosen and why it’s located where it is – all in a future entry!

Yea, from the previews of them on the internet there sure are a lot of trees. As soon as I get them all I'll scan them.

I bought an interesting item from the internet; the TTD poster of the train like a rocket with everybody in space helmets. It goes nice in my room with my other collections.:)

::Back on topic::

Hmmm, I wonder what the reason/story is behind SkyHawks purchase.

I can tell one answer to that question TTD-120. To give new life to Frontiertown and bring people back to the park....lol. I know you know that, I'm just giving you a hard time.

There is a lot of action going on back in the ShyHawk Area. We had 3 concrete/cement trucks here, along with some kind of truck with a ladder. They must be doing the footers.

Is it me or does it seem like they only did one Footer for Skyhawk today? It looks like the one that's visible is done now.

That "truck with the ladder" that you spoke of, it isn't a ladder. I belive that's a boom that allows them to pour the concrete exactly where they want it. It pumps the concrete through a hose that hangs over the boom.

they can pump concrete pretty far with those trucks.

Found this to be a bit intresting, what do you all think? "

Cedar Fair stated that they will be spending 58 million in their parks for 2006.

But this is interesting...
Confirmed- Cedar Point- 6 million
Confirmed- Michigan's Adventure- 6 million
Confirmed- Worlds of Fun- 14 million
Confirmed- Valleyfair!- 6 million
Semi-Con.- Geauga Lake- 3-5 million (Water Park)
Semi-Con.- DorneyPark- 3-5 million (Wavepool and maybe flat)
Confirmed- Cedar Point marina- 1 million
Confirmed- Castaway Bay Upgrade- 2 million

Total- 41-45 million (interesting, what happened to the other 13-17 million???)

Could that go to another Cedar Point attraction that many are saying they will not announce just yet (woodie) "

Shoot the rapids, tame and dry. Thunder Canyon, wet and laughter. Snake River Falls, soaked and smiling. White Water Landing and the old shoot the rapids, Fun and missed.

Are those per-park numbers based on the attractions (Skyhawk, etc.) or based on CF's actualy per-park numbers?

If those are based on attraction costs, the remaining balance will probably be spent on consequential and miscellaneous improvements (i.e. Gemini repairs/maint., etc.).

Brandon

Spending 58 million in capital improvements, or total budget? That's an interesting find if its just in capital improvement projects. Like djDaemon said though, the balance could be cosmetic upgrades, etc at all parks combined.
