New for 2006 - Skyhawk

Curse you and your sweet Cellphone alert! Mine will be better....that is when I get a cell phone (I know it's sad). I'll just bum one off from my sister, she has like 5 of them anyway.:)

Oh and Mikeybo2004, it's hydraulics. But SkyHawk doesn’t use hydraulics, it uses pneumatics. Hydraulics use fluids, pneumatics use air.
For example: Dragster uses hydraulics, Power Tower uses pneumatics.
Another form of power is LIM (Linear Induction Motor)...aka magnets.....which is used by Wicked Twister. There’s also LSM (Linear Synchronous Motor), but don’t worry about those. :)

Yeah, LSMs aren't exactly they wonder that LIMs were. Thats why S:TE is down so much, and also because SF doesn't seem to want to take very good care of it.

But back on topic...I really look forward to riding SKyhawk on opening day.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Why would they need to be laying block for this project?

If in fact that is masonry block, there is a building that the equipent will be in. I think it will be located on your left as you exit mine ride. I have pictures of markings there saying, "RIDE CONTROL." So if in fact that it is block, it could be for that buildings foundation.

Looks like one of the footers is poured. The ride control markings I saw I thought were for Mine Ride. If you looked closely the paint line went from the control panel to the storage shed. I thought there was probably underground wiring going to the controls in the storage shed. It could be marked so they dont dig in that area and tear up the wiring. I could be wrong though.

If it were just excavation markings to prevent hitting lines, why would they bother labeling it ride controls?

It looks like the footers are already poured, I know you already said that CPFan420. I wanted to bring up something though, does anyone else here think that the Footers look crooked? Maybe thats how the Webcam is positioned. Anyway in other news from me, the old Flower bed has been taken away. The peices of concrete that was laying there is gone!

I just think the webcam is crooked... look at the CCMR building's roofline.

I also belive it's a distortion of the camera, I remember when they had a camera pointed at ttd during construction and I thought IT looked crooked.

Maybe once vertical construction starts soon, they'll move the camera somewhere else so it doesn't look crooked. When they had the webcam in the middle of Top Thrill Dragsters Tower, the midway looked crooked for some reason.

Is there anybody working on at Cedar Point today? It looks quiet on the Webcam.

I guess I was right about what the block was for and where the compressor building is going. :)

New blog update and construction pictures, check it out: http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/inside_park/rides/thrill/skyhawk/construction.cfm

The compressor room looks huge!!!

I thought the compressor room looked big too - that's why I asked if it was going to be loud! :-) I actually love the way Power Tower sounds, so I was hoping that Skyhawk would be the same. But, it sounds like they may muffle it. The one at Dorney Park has a slight "whoosh" sound to it, but its also really small.

Imagine how much air you need to move 40 people and the huge swings too. That's gotta be a lot of air.

Thats more air then your average compressor that you can buy at Home Depot or Sears. The same With Power Tower.

I have a random question? Does anyone know where the Webcam is actually positioned? Is it sitting on a tree somewhere, is it on the TownHall Building?

My guess is somewhere on the town hill building. A highly doubt they would mount it to a tree.

Its not just getting a ride that is almost similar to maXair, thats just one thing in a string of things. They haven't really made an attempt to fix Millennium Force's seatbelt situation, to me thats just saying they don't care about those guest who can't fit anymore.

Well, why don't you and all of the other complainers get your check books out and write CP some checks for a total of a million a train so that they can accomodate you? I'm sorry you can't ride any more, but this is NOT something that CP wanted to do. It was just something Intamin forced on them due to the accident on S:ROS.

I'm really lookin forward to Skyhawk. So what if it's similar to maXair? You still ride the Magnum when the MF is similar to it. They both go up and down hills, make some turns, and go through tunnnels. It'll probably be a whole different experience. I mean I love maXair, but I feel trapped on it. You have no freedom on it. Imagine how it'll be with only lap bars and being pushed instead of a gradual increase. Don't you think that if they were too similar that CP would have the sense to not put it in?
