S&S said many of the parts are on their way to the park right now, according to the last news article on this site.
I'm thinking CP is looking to have the ride up before the years end. I get this because maXair wasn't started until Janurary, and they're starting Skyhawk the day the park closed. (both projects are very similar in size) My prediction is that they'll have all the needed foundations will be done and the structure will be up by the end of December. All electrical and other things to perpare for opening will be done when the weater permits. *** Edited 11/4/2005 11:28:01 PM UTC by Gomez***

Don't forget Gomez, Weather Permitting. We've had some nasty snow storms come and go through Ohio. Last year was just ugly in my home town. So say we get a nasty snow blizzard, then it will be done in Middle January. I think another reason they want to get this ride up so quickly is probably they have electrical work to do and they have to finish doing what they're doing to White Water Landing. They might be trying to start early on that area for whatever they're building in 2007. I know that sounds crazy but you never know. I'm at 900 posts now, everyone clap for me.
Sorry to be off topic, but has anyone else noticed the park cam hasn't been refreshing?
As of October 30, 2005, I have rode EVERY thrill ride at cedar point! Begining with the Raptor and ending with the Demon Drop.
The bad weather comes in January through early March. December is just cold. Seeing the pictures that were posted on CP's site. It looks like WWL dismantling and Skyhawk construction are two separate projects. Both are being done at the same time.
If any peparations are going to be made for 2007, they won't happen until April. (Judging by what we know about TTD's construction)

They do that, because you'll be looking at a black square if it updated throughout the night. *** Edited 11/4/2005 11:30:30 PM UTC by Gomez***

Sandusky had somewhere on the order of 30" of snow in December last year and there was snow reported on 16 of the 31 days. Here's a picture I took downtown on Christmas Eve 2004.
I'm not saying it's going to be like that every December, but Sandusky can certainly see it's share of bad snow and weather that month.
I'm glad Cedar Point is on the west side of Cleveland, rather than the east.
It amazes me how fast lake effect snow piles up out that way.
Ugh...I'm estatic about driving through that crap this year.
Anyway, on topic. Skyhawk looks fantastic. This will be my first time following the construction of anything too, so I'm pretty excited.
At least we enthusiasts have something to watch over the winter/ off season:). We had to wait awhile to follow maXair's progress since it was announced in December, and that construction didn't start until Janurary.

Dick Goddard who is usualy right on the money with his weather predictions says this year will be a normal winter of about 66" in Cleveland.

I agree with Jason on the compressor building. When you first drop out of the station on mine ride, on your right before turning right, the words "Ride Controls" are there in big letters. In the space around the letters, is a box created by dashed lines of the same color. The size of this marked area would appear to be about the same as the compressor building shown in the picture that Gomez posted.

I don't know if they'd put the compressor that close to the ride/midway. I'd guess they'll use ones similar to the Ingersoll-Rand ones used for Power Tower, and those things are LOUD when they release some built up pressure; which they do quite often.

Aww that picture made me happy. I can't wait for the snowy weather, and this will be my first winter driving through it on my own. Also, offseason snowy pictures are fun too.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
Snow is not fun. It's more a pain in the arse.

Snow is awful. Especially driving through it. I don't like cold and really don't like snow. I like the warm weather. Too bad CP didn't have the weather to stay open year round.

Yeah, my first time too. However, my reaction is quite the opposite. The idea of not being able to stop or running into a ditch really doesn't appeal to me. Plus, my car is kept outside. So I'll have frozen doors and a freezing, snow/ice covered car. As said before, I'm estatic.
Folks have started to touch on it within the last few posts. The ride looks great, and my only concern is (as others have said) whether or not it will really "fit in" to the Frontier Town theme.
I have no experience with a Screamin' Swing: are they indeed loud (as in Power Tower loud) when moving the compressed air around? IMHO, noise like Power Tower makes frequently would -not- be appropriate for Frontier Town.
I hope it doesn't huff-n-puff like Power Tower. I like the somewhat quietness of FT. It's a nice break from the rest of the park.

Yes and the colors I have to wonder if they will blend in as well.
