New for '05--maXair

From walking through that area all the time to get to Wicked Twister the ride itself seems like a perfect fit. One question though, how the heck will they get a line that fits 1000+ people in that area without removing a Kiddy Kingdom ride? Seems like it will have to squeeze into the area.

Nice avatar Gomez!

I'm wondering if they will add a webcam over there to check out construction.

Honestly, I like the name, but did they get it off a hair dryer?

I don't think there's much to look at right now for a webcam. I'm sure they will though, they had one showing the Lighthouse Point expansion last year. What a waste of a webcam that was.

I think the old Wicked Twister webcam location (from after it opened) would be perfect.

Regarding capacity, while the ride may appear mechanically the same and has the same dimensions, there are certainly things they can do to improve the capacity. For one, you'd think the German engineering would find a way to park the ride faster. It's really, really slow on the PKI ride. Then the floor takes forever to raise and lower. If they can work those two issues out, they could get 10 or 20 seconds off the interval.

Oh, and this deserves its own post... where are all the kids that said it was "confermed" that we were getting a flyer, dueling floorless, White Water Landing was being removed, etc.?

I'm surprised anyone was surprised by the announcement. It's the worst kept secret of any new CP ride I could think of.

Hope this won't turn into a Cedar Fair thing, after Knott's Berry Farm's 50's themed Xcelerator...

I just realized the true bad news behind maXair... Won't Cedar Point have to take out the brick water fountains there? :(

/still sad about the removal of the Magnum bathrooms fountain

/hopes no one takes this seriously

maXair looks like a giant wrecking ball smashing into Disaster Transport. Is this a sign of things to come?;)

Race For The Sky!

I noticed that too.

I was surprised by the announcment, but the type of ride, not really. I was mostly surprised to here about the location, relocations of the games, and redoing of the old games down that midway. I'm please in every which way. We got the thrill ride and we got the park improvements that were needed. How can anybody here ask for any more? :) *** Edited 12/2/2004 3:07:54 AM UTC by Gomez***

Here's the stats. I think its a little far fetched.

60minutes/2.5 ride time = 24 cycles per hour

24 * 50 riders per cycle = 1200 riders per hour w/o stopping

1200- 200 = 1000 hourly riders

200/50 = 4 number of cycles less per hour

24- 4 = 20 actual number of cycles per hour

20 * 2.5 = 50 number of minutes of actual running time

Total of 10 minutes for 20 rides per hour. Thats only 30 seconds to unload, load, and check all harnesses and seatbelts assuming the total ride time is from the time the floor woud start dropping till the floor is back up. 1000 per hour is unreasonable.

does anyone know where the enterance to this thing will be?

If you look closely at the photo. . .I notice two things.

1) To the far right, notice that the games area is indeed different in this rendering. Is the big-top-esque facade part of the new 'pageantry?'

2) Towards the left, that funny looking brown cabin building. . .is that part of the ride structure or is that the Lost Persons/Information Center? (Lost Persons HAS to be close to that area. . .) But maybe it's actually much farther up, since there is that food stand there as well.

But this ride does look like a lot of fun. . .I am excited to try it!

At least it will be running OD/Media day.......And Very Nice Ride.

I want to ride really bad, but it seems scary as heck. For me the flat rides can be just as scary, if not more terrifying than the roller coasters. Maybe it's just me. But I'll still ride.

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

I'm excited and anxious to ride this next season. This is a great Christmas present for Cedar Point. Even though its not a coaster, I'm still happy because its another Huss. And a lot of people don't know this but Chaos and Trokia are made by Huss, so now there will be 3 rides in that area from Huss. Isn't that awesome!!.

Dont forget The swinging boat is a huss also;)

Oh yea! Did anyone notice, that there will be trees, not like a nice bench to pop-a-squat on in the shade to watch people in sheer terror >:)
